Everyone look dumbfounded as they witness the ball just hitting the stands out of nowhere. Everything happened so fast before anyone could comprehend.
"H-home run!"
"Where did this first year have come from? What's his middle school why we haven't heard anything about this monster at all?"
"Do you think I know!?"
Jiro once again cause commotion around but this time with his batting instead of pitching. Ichidaisan ace look completely shaken up at what happened as he didn't saw this one coming.
Seido bench erupted in cheers as they celebrated the their additional run while ichidaisan bench is the opposite as it's completely dead silent at the moment.
'What the hell just happened?' Ichidaisan ace thought as he stood on the mound with a blank look on his face.
"Time out!" Ichidaisan coach shouted which woken up ichidaisan catcher on his daze as he too can't process what happened just now so he proceeded to ask the umpire for a Time out as their coach instructed for it.
As Jiro rounded the base everyone's eyes is completely focused on him. He's like a black hole sucking everyone attention by force.
"Jiro is as monstrous as usual even in official matches huh?" Tojo can't help but say with administration on his voice as he saw his friend, a fellow first year have done what all of been have been dreaming of doing.
"Of course it's Jiro after all!" Kanemaru said agreeing to Tojo statement
Haruichi, Furuya and sawamura can't help but remained silent as a complicated look evident on their face, they feel like the gap between their friend and them just keeps widening instead of closing.
'I need to work harder' the trio thought as that is the only solution they have in mind at the moment
Miyuki just stood at the home plate waiting for his kohai arrival to celebrate with him
"Hahah how it feels having your first home run in a official match?" The catcher said as he high five his kohai
Jiro just looked at Miyuki and just smiled at the catcher saying "Good I guess?"
"Nice batting!"
"As expected of our monster"
"Nice batting Tsubayoshi-chan"
"Damn you pretty boy! You keep showing off"
Jiro received slaps at the back from his senpai's while hearing their praises when he got back on their base with Miyuki.
Everyone is happy as they gaze at the scoreboard, 14-8 was displayed at the total runs for each team now Seido is six runs ahead than ichidaisan high.
Ichidaisan time out ended and Everyone got back to their own position. The timeout they took payed out well as their team ace is now back on track with his newfound determination visible on his eyes. As seido saw this they can't help but focus once again.
'They haven't crumbled' everyone has the same thought as they saw the expressions of ichidaisan players on the field
After awhile what they think did indeed was the truth as ichidaisan managed to get the last 2 outs needed to close the inning as Manaka retired the 8th and 9th batter of Seido successfully.
Jiro's POV
As I saw that the other team hasn't given up on the game yet I smiled as I appreciate their resolve and determination.
"Let's go Miyuki senpai" I said looking at my catcher as it's now our turn to defend for the seventh inning.
"Excited eh? Let's go end this perfectly once again monster-kun" Miyuki said on which I just nod at him as I made my way towards my mound. Yes it's my mound, from this moment on I can start my way claiming this place as mine once again.
I saw ichidaisan clean up batter position himself at the batters box.
'ho, I like that look on your face hehe' I thought as I saw the look on ichidaisan clean up batter, 'Let's see you try bite me' I said to myself as I observed the expression on ichidaisan 4th at bat looking as if he's out for my blood.
"I'm sorry but I'm the predator here, not the prey" I muttered to myself as I release my aura on the mound.
I nod as I saw my catchers call asking for an inside fastball near the batters chest. 'I really like the way this guy make his calls!' I thought as I feel my blood pumping up as I started my wind up
I raised my knee high, arms up, stomping my right foot on the ground, rotating as I started whipping my arms out focusing all of my strength at my fingertips as I release the ball
*BOOOMMMM
I smiled as I heard the satisfying sound of my pitch drilling it's way to the the cathers mitt.
I'm addicted to this sound.
"St-Strike!" The umpire cried out.
Once again I can hear the loud cheering of my teammates behind me. I just smiled at them appreciating their encouragements and I focus once again as Miyuki senpai gave me the sign for a fastball this time in the outside corner.
'I guess we're really throwing just fastballs today huh?' I thought as I started my pitching motion.
*BOOOMMMM
A loud sound that was so pleasing to my ears once again sounded as I watch my ball drilling it's way into Miyuki senpai mitt.
"Strike two!" The umpire cried out once again.
"Nice ball!" Miyuki senpai said as he throws to me the ball back and have started crouching down again asking me for a fastball directly down the middle.
'Overwhelm him with your speed!' that's the message that I have received with this call and I wasn't one to back down in challenges so I just smiled at my catcher and started my pitching motion.
'That felt good' I thought as I feel the sensation of the ball releasing from my fingertips.
*BOOOMMMMM
'I wouldn't get enough of this' I thought as I once again heard the sound of my ball hitting the mitt.
"St-STRIKE OUT!" The umpire once more cried out as he gets out his daze. I watched as I saw ichidaisan 4th at bat looking at me with a disbelief look on his face so I look at him in the eye and just smiled at him.
"Nice ball!" Once again Miyuki senpai said as he throw me back the ball and as I saw him suddenly stunned on his track and I followed his gaze out of curiosity and their at the scoreboard I saw something that made me smile once again
'159km/h' That is what being displayed on the radar as it recorded the speed of my last ball.
'Finally' I thought to myself as I've finally saw improvement once again in my pitching speed. I haven't broken past 158km/h for a long time now and it made me happy inside that I've finally broken that barrier as it's the testament that all of my hard work is paying off
I heard the crowd goes wild as they also notice what's on display on the radar but I can't help but ignore them as I still have something to take care of because ichidaisan 5th batter is already making his way to the batters box.
'It's not the time to be distracted yet'
Just like the previous batter I've managed to struck out ichidaisan 5th and 6th batter with 3 pitches closing the sixth inning perfectly.
Once we entered the seventh inning, ichidaisan ace have managed to get back at his rhythm as he retired our batters consecutively and I also struck evey batter out. In the eighth inning Yuki senpai managed to hit a single allowing him to reach the first base but masuko senpai unexpectedly hit a grounder towards ichidaisan pitcher so a double play happened and Miyuki was obviously struck out as there was no one on base and I once again suppress ichidaisan line up successfully.
It's the last inning now and I was the first batter this time so I am currently making my way towards the batters box smiling.
I swing my wooden bat a few times before stepping onto the left batters box. I just looked at ichidaisan Ace on the mound glaring at me, If looks could kill I'm sure I'd be dead by now. I chuckled at my thoughts as I removed it from my mind to focus at this time
As I saw the ball heading my way I just waited for it calmly while still not moving an inch.
'My 2nd home run' I thought as I started swinging my bat
*DOONGGGG
The loud sound resonated at the stadium as I perfectly hit the first pitch which is a fastball thrown at me once again to the stands
I just smiled as I once again saw the baseball landing at the stands and some people started a run to get the ball. I dropped my bat and started rounding up the bases back to the home plate.
I celebrated with my senpai's once I got back and the coach instructed my senpai's that is next at bat to score more runs for the team
"YES SIR!" They answered but unfortunately Ichidaisan ace wasn't that shaken but this time and managed to get the remaining outs needed.
"It's really been fun today" I said softly as we are now heading to the field as it's our turn to defend this last inning.
This is ichidaisan last chance to turn the game around but unfortunately for them I was the one standing on the mound.
"Pull off some miraculous comeback boys!" I heard ichidaisan coach shouted on which I look at his direction and just smiled.
It's now ichidaisan 4th batter at bat, the guy is exuding out a pressure that wasn't there before. 'These guys haven't given up yet' I thought
'You're spirit is commendable but I'm sorry. As long as I am the one standing on the mound I'll crush whatever miracle you guys are believing' I thought as I pitch.
*BOOOOMMM
"Strike!"
*BOOOMMMM
"Strike two!"
*BOOMMMMMM
"STIKE OUT!"
Everything proceeded as it's supposed to be.
"STRIKE OUT!"
"STRIKE OUT!"
Once the 4th batter of the opposing team was struck out the 5th and 6th batter followed the same fate. Jiro didn't give them a single chance of staging a comeback at all.
"GAME SET!"
I smiled as I heard the umpire finally announces the game as over. My teammates swarmed up towards me to celebrate.
Showering me with praises on which I just smiled at them.
"It's the team victory everyone" I said at my senpai's smiling. I was really happy inside as this isy first official game victory in this life.
'Today is really fun and I'm just getting started' I thought to myself while we celebrate our hard earned victory.
