章 6: Chapter 6: A Plan in Motion

The day of the wedding arrived, and I was nowhere near ready to face it. The invitation still sat on my desk, a reminder of everything I had lost and everything I was about to lose. But I was no longer that girl who had been discarded so easily. I was Emily—stronger, wiser, and unyielding.

The morning of the wedding, I stood in front of the mirror, staring at my reflection. My black dress was simple but elegant, a stark contrast to the ostentatious gown my sister would no doubt wear. I wasn't there to compete for attention; I was there to make a statement. This was my life now. I would no longer let anyone control my fate.

I had no intention of attending this wedding as the meek, broken woman they expected me to be. No, I was going to show them that I was more than the victim they'd always seen me as. I was going to make them regret ever underestimating me.

"Boss, are you sure you want to go through with this?" Josef's voice interrupted my thoughts, his usual calm demeanor replaced by a hint of concern. He had been with me through every step of this journey, and I knew he cared about me—perhaps more than he should.

"I have to," I said, my voice steady but filled with an underlying determination. "I need them to see who I really am. It's time for them to learn that I'm no longer the same girl who was discarded and forgotten. This time, I choose my path."

Josef nodded, but his face still carried a hint of worry. "Just be careful. Your sister... she's not going to let you walk away from this without a fight."

"Let her try," I muttered under my breath, the words coming out with a confidence I didn't know I had until now.

---

The wedding hall was grand, dripping with opulence and excess. The air was heavy with the scent of expensive flowers, and guests were already arriving in droves, gossiping excitedly about the union of two of the wealthiest families in the city.

I stepped into the venue, the doors opening with a dramatic flourish. Heads turned, eyes scanning me with curiosity. The murmurs began almost immediately—whispers about the estranged sister, the one who had been out of sight for so long, only to return now, on this day.

My eyes scanned the crowd, but I didn't have to look far to find them.

There they were—my sister, radiant and flawless, standing beside Aghav, her arm draped possessively around his. He looked the same as I remembered—handsome, cold, and indifferent. The sight of him made my heart twist in ways I didn't expect. The memories of our past life—the pain, the betrayal—came rushing back in an overwhelming flood. But I forced myself to breathe through it, to remain composed.

My sister noticed me first, her eyes narrowing as recognition flashed across her face. She stiffened, but only for a moment before she plastered on a smile that was as fake as the love she claimed to have for Aghav.

"Emily, how nice of you to join us," she said, her voice dripping with false sweetness. "I didn't think you'd come."

"I wouldn't miss it for the world," I replied, my tone icy and sharp. I could see the nervous twitch at the corner of her mouth, the way she tried to mask the unease that suddenly overtook her.

Aghav, ever the stoic, didn't acknowledge me. But I could see the flicker of recognition in his eyes—perhaps a hint of guilt? Or maybe it was just the remnants of the affection he had once claimed to feel for me. But whatever it was, I wasn't interested in his empty gestures anymore.

"Emily, you look... striking," Aghav finally spoke, his voice smooth, but there was a coldness to it that sent a shiver down my spine. "I didn't expect to see you here today."

"I'm sure you didn't," I replied, my eyes narrowing. "But then again, I'm full of surprises."

The tension between us was palpable, the room suddenly feeling too small as if the space between us was suffocating. My sister and Aghav exchanged a quick, uncomfortable glance, and for the first time in what felt like forever, I had the upper hand.

---

The ceremony began shortly after, but I wasn't there to witness it. I had no intention of watching them pledge themselves to each other, not when I knew the truth. The truth that my sister had stolen everything from me—my love, my life, my future—and now she was taking my place in the life I had once dreamed of.

But I wasn't about to let her have it all.

I turned away from the altar and walked toward the back of the venue, where a small gathering of guests were mingling. My mind was already moving, already planning. I had come for a reason, and I was going to get what I came for.

Aghav had a secret—one I knew he had buried deep, one that could unravel everything.

I had my ways of getting information. I had my ways of making people talk.

And tonight, I was going to make Aghav regret ever crossing me.

---

The night stretched on, the wedding going exactly as planned—until it didn't. I waited until the reception had started, until the guests had begun to drink and celebrate, thinking their happiness was untouchable. And then, I made my move.

I slipped into a back room, where Aghav had retreated to get away from the crowd. He was standing by the window, looking out over the city, lost in thought. I moved quietly, my footsteps barely a whisper against the marble floor.

"Aghav," I said softly, but with authority.

He turned to face me, his eyes cold but wary. "What do you want, Emily?"

I stepped closer, feeling the power surge within me. "I want you to know that I haven't forgotten."

"Forgotten what?" he asked, his voice suddenly tight.

"Forgotten what you did to me," I said, my voice low but steady. "And I haven't forgotten the lies. The betrayal. The way you shattered everything I was. You don't get to walk away from this, Aghav. Not this time."

His eyes flickered with something—guilt, regret? Or maybe it was just fear.

"You don't understand," he said, his voice trembling slightly. "I didn't have a choice."

"Everyone has a choice, Aghav," I replied, my eyes locking with his. "And you chose her. But I'm not the same girl who let you break her. I've rebuilt myself. And this time, I will be the one to decide your fate."

---

The battle for control had begun, and I wasn't about to lose this fight.

---

Would you like to continue with Emily's confrontation with her sister or focus on the events that follow in her plan against Aghav and her family?
