"So he is a Natural?"
Klint rolled his eyes.
"You still have a doubt in your tone. What other reason could be?"
"Maybe I somehow absorbed the spell with a random power glitch?"
"No. Your imprint doesn't appear that much here. What about your powers delay though? How's that working out for you?"
It was going well. Actually, Rose's powers sometimes didn't listen to her. If she performed a spell, it took a second delay to act. And that was a deadly combination when she was in the Magical world.
"Surprisingly, it's all good now. No problem."
He nodded.
"Stay beside your boss. He is a natural power bank for you. So useful."
Yes, Rose thought so too.
Natural persons, according to the Magical World, are humans who could have become wizards or witches but didn't. It seemed like Asher had a chance but he didn't accept magic.
But he could now be like a WiFi router and increase the strength of other magical people. He could naturally absorb magic. That explained why he was burning all the files. And she thought he was being pranked.
Which power-hungry wizard wouldn't want infinite strength? That's why he was so important.
But again, no one could use Natural's power without their consent. If you don't have a favorable impression, the effect would be the opposite.
A person who could influence a war, that's how important Natural people were for the Magical community.
That's why, they were killed. Not shocking! History is like that.
"How can we keep his identity a secret?"
Rose was worried.
"You see, he is a CEO, and he is also a well-known celebrity, and no one had a clue about his so-called powers. There should be something helping him hide. We should just keep this secret for him."
"Yeah but he should know it, right?"
Rose would like to know if she had such power.
"His ignorance about this matter is a layer of protection for him."
He was right.
Asher, on the other hand, was almost going crazy with him burning everything. The scary thing was he couldn't burn himself.
But no, how was he supposed to go without touching anything?
Such kind of thing was supernatural.
And he remembered some words his mom had told him.
"Ashy, if you find something unscientific happening to you, open your charm locket."
He remembered her, he remembered everything.
She left him.
He didn't resent her, he just missed her. She left him when he was fifteen.
She was tall, like an unyielding tree in a storm, he remembered the loving look she gave him before she disappeared from his life.
No contact, nothing.
He was an adult now, he thought he was over it, or that at least he could bypass this feeling. But it was still painful.
He hesitated. Should he really do as she said?
Trying wouldn't hurt.
Asher unbuttoned his shirt and touched the charm on the locket. He looked at it and nothing happened.
What was he expecting? A sudden opening of a portal?
He was crazy to believe such an obvious lie.
And anyway, he had an assistant, so he could go home and think about this problem without touching anything.
"Sir, you called?"
"Yes, let's go home."
Asher's mood was really low. He found that he was really lonely.
He watched the swaying of the trees and the moon hidden by the clouds. The night was calm but somehow, he still felt sad.
The curtains moved and the fog started forming behind him. Asher didn't notice yet but there was a silhouette forming behind him.
The fog solidified into the figure of a person.
Rose was still reminiscing with Klint. She had to know what happened in the Magic world after she left.
"You mean, the band took off. Wow. I have their autographs. Pity, I can't show off. I got them to sign and now I may have the rare fan signs."
Apparently, Rose's seniors really got successful now.
"How about one more question?"
Klint was exhausted. He sprawled on the chair while Rose watched him like a kid watching a cartoon.
"Yes," he answered without looking at her.
The library had shut down and they were still in the secret room.
"How are my parents? My brother?"
Klint's eyes flashed.
"They are good. They miss you."
"Really, I miss them too. I just want to see them, you know! It's been so long and my messages were all unanswered. I sent you some too, you know."
Her first ones to him were just "I hate you" kind of messages. Then she sent a long string of why!
But yeah, she sometimes sent photos and asked them if they remembered her.
Klint glanced at her and remained quiet. He didn't tell her what she needed to know.
"Okay, I'll leave now, it's getting late."
Rose felt embarrassed and she felt the need to flee.
She stepped out of the room and found darkness.
"Take this portal!"
Rose stepped into the portal and stepped out two streets away from her apartment lane.
It was a weird day with a good ending. For her, at least, she thought.
She then remembered her boss who had a weird experience and maybe he was still experiencing it.
She would have helped him but he didn't need it. He could figure it out.
But still, she thought she could send a message.
The human phones were all great. No need to conjure a spell. The message went in a blink.
Boss, are you okay?
She sent and waited for a reply while walking. She didn't get one, she thought Asher was asleep or something.
She knew he couldn't harm himself with the way he was burning everything. Natural's powers don't harm the owner.
It was good that way.
Rose didn't know how wrong she was because Asher was anything but asleep. He was wide awake. More awake than he could ever be.
Because what he saw couldn't be explained by science, magic, or destiny, in his opinion.
It was just plain fantasy.
He had sat on the chair wondering about his life when he felt a strong gaze and turned back.
That's where the figure was. Clad in blue in the white fog smiling at him.
Asher just felt shocked. Touching the charm worked.
It was someone he knew well!
