THE BREAKFAST at the table was awkward to say the least. Louisa didn't dare to come downstairs. She ate her breakfast in her room. She promised that she could not get humiliated again. 

But her guest didn't take her hiding very likely. Araminta stabbed her food as she looked bothered and annoyed. 

"First, we couldn't see Luella yesterday, and now we don't even have a hostess." Araminta sighed. 

"What a wonderful dukedom," Meredith sighed, rolling her eyes.

Araminta turned to her angrily, "Well, we would have had a hostess this morning, if you didn't condemn the girl yesterday"

Meredith rolled her eyes at Araminta, sipping her wine, feeling unbothered by her words.
