After a lengthy session of practice, Liam finally managed to unlock all the storage devices he had looted from the God Servants. During the process, two of them even exploded due to the restrictions placed on them. Just as Sophia had mentioned, the internal space of these devices was relatively small, with most of them offering only about a cubic meter of storage.
While such space was sufficient for a large backpack, it fell far short of Liam's hopes for a portable warehouse. However, the storage ring that Sophia had given him had a space equivalent to two classrooms—an extraordinary capacity by comparison!
Storage items, being space-related, were only usable by superhumans, so they had no standard market value. Still, given the comparison to the God Servants' rings, it was clear that Sophia's gift was incredibly valuable.
"Wow, she really is a wealthy woman. She must be more than just a proctor if she can casually give away something like this," Liam marveled, sliding the ring onto his finger, with no intention of taking it off anytime soon.
He didn't even consider whether it might be inappropriate to immediately wear a ring given to him by a girl...
After sorting through the storage items, Liam began inventorying the heap of goods on the ground. But as he looked through them, he frowned.
He didn't recognize most of the items, and to his disappointment, there wasn't much money among them!
The various items were primarily tools imbued with the God Servants' distinct bloody aura, which gave off an unsettling scent. After sifting through the pile, Liam set aside anything that looked like it could be made of gold or silver, thinking he could sell those for money. The rest of the items, however, left him puzzled.
A thought suddenly crossed his mind—although he didn't recognize these items, perhaps they could introduce themselves!
Following the intense battle from the previous night, Liam's abilities had undergone a significant improvement. Not only was his control over ice better, but his mastery of "Voices of All Things" had also reached a new level.
Activating the "Voices of All Things," Liam eagerly waited for each item to reveal itself to him.
The first thing he heard, however, was a blow to his expectations.
[Pure Silver Staff: I represent the authority of God. Though I may look thick, long, and large, I am actually a serious object.]
Liam: ...
Ugh, I wasn't even thinking about it that way before, but now that you've described it like that, it's hard not to see it as something... inappropriate.
Without any expression, he moved the oddly-shaped staff out of sight, deciding it was better not to think about it.
[Mask: Once you wear me, you will have the chance to glimpse the light of God!]
[Blood Arrow Charm: A one-time use item for launching an attack.]
[Pure Gold Bracelet: I possess unparalleled power... But I know you don't give a damn about that. I'm 99.99% pure gold, worth a fortune!]
As Liam examined each item, most of them turned out to be tools specifically for the God Servants, or items used for conducting divine rituals. Aside from a few single-use charms, none of the items particularly interested him.
Just as he was about to give up, something caught his attention—a red envelope, inconspicuous and buried at the bottom of the pile. At first, Liam hadn't even noticed it.
[Divine Descent Envelope: Contains detailed information about the mission, the great name of the Lord, and the route provided by an internal spy.]
[Note: This mission is of utmost importance, being a direct communication between the Lord and humanity. It must not fail!]
Liam carefully picked up the red envelope, his expression serious.
From the description alone, he knew that his "Voices of All Things" ability had definitely come in handy this time!
"This mission... it must be referring to last night's events," Liam muttered, holding the red envelope. "And the spy... could that mean there's a mole within the superhuman organization?"
"And... judging by this description, 'the Lord' seems to be a real entity?"
Pondering these thoughts, Liam attempted to open the envelope, but it wouldn't budge. It felt as solid as a piece of jade, merely shaped like an envelope.
After some consideration, he decided to try using the same method he used to probe storage rings, intending to sink his consciousness into the envelope.
But as soon as he had this thought, "Voices of All Things" activated on its own, and a deafening noise roared in his ears—far more intense than anything he had experienced, even more terrifying than the blood-soaked sword rain from the previous night.
[Beware!]
[Do not gaze upon the God!]
The piercing sound caused Liam's ears to ring. He instinctively let go, dropping the envelope onto the floor.
"Damn... this thing is dangerous!"
Realizing that the envelope was too risky to keep, he decided it needed to be handed over to someone in authority as soon as possible.
Yeah, I'll give it to Sophia. That should do.
...
Elsewhere, Sophia was deeply immersed in her work, clearly very busy.
Thanks to Liam's heroic efforts the previous night, the Divine Descent had been thwarted, preventing any catastrophic consequences. The students remained blissfully unaware of what had transpired, assuming nothing had happened at all.
But the truth was, it had been a major incident, especially with the capture of a living Divine Fetus. Given the timing, it had shaken the entire superhuman community.
As a senior figure, Sophia had to report to various authorities and participate in discussions about the situation.
After ending a phone call, Sophia massaged her temples, which were starting to ache. "So the assessment will proceed as planned... I guess that's fine, since no real damage was done."
She relaxed a bit, turning to observe the group of superhumans who were deep in discussion.
"Last night's Divine Descent was truly dangerous. There was no warning at all—it's bizarre, really. We've never let our guard down."
"Exactly, it's so strange, especially with that non-energy-based barrier. Unless you find the right method, there's no way to break it."
"Indeed. Whoever that nameless hero was, they did an incredible job—found the barrier, wiped out the God Servants, and must be a master!"
"And they're so modest too, doing such a huge thing and just leaving."
"Such humility! A true legend!"
As she listened to the lively discussion around her, Sophia couldn't help but smile to herself.
It was hard to imagine how these people would react when they found out that the hero of last night's events was an unregistered student with an E-rank talent. She was quite looking forward to it.
Just then, her phone rang again. Assuming it was another inquiry, she picked it up without looking.
But soon after, her expression turned a bit exasperated.
