The defensive formation, which was proving to be effective in repelling the malevolent guests that come to the forest uninvited at night and leave before dawn, consisted of 30 guards.
Leading this formation was a 6-foot-4-inch tall, muscular man with short-cropped, sandy blonde hair and a square face complemented by a strong jawline and rugged features.
This was none other than Calder.
He looked extremely imposing, leading his men and clad in thick steel armor covered in blood. Not a single drop of that blood was his—it was all from the demons he had felled tonight.
Like the others, the dread caused by the changes brought to the forest by the presence of the evil spirits was getting to him, but he couldn't afford to be afraid as he was helming the formation that the entire group depended on for survival. So, he gritted his teeth, swallowed his fears, and forced himself to remain calm.
Is this chapter length good or should I reduce it? I would like to know what readers think.
The next chapter would be more intense as the confrontation will take place in it.
