Dressrosa not being taken seriously by the Marines was, in Reijin's view, a good thing. He planned to develop rapidly and would inevitably need to operate in the shadows. The World Government and Marines' disregard for them allowed Reijin to pursue his technological ambitions.
"Hand Doflamingo over to the Marines, but keep his subordinates here," Reijin instructed. "Especially Sugar. She's the most important."
Reijin was particularly interested in Sugar's Devil Fruit ability. Such power couldn't be easily relinquished. If it were to reappear in the world, it could cause immense chaos and even jeopardize Reijin's plans.
"Yes, Lord Reijin. King Riku also inquired about the wedding preparations," Shikaku reported, a hint of awkwardness in his expression.
Two days had passed since Doflamingo's downfall, and King Riku had been tirelessly working to restore Dressrosa. It was only natural for Reijin to seamlessly assume the throne.
"You can begin the arrangements. We'll hold the wedding under the Marines' witness," Reijin replied calmly. "Then, we'll announce the change in Dressrosa's rulership."
Reijin's focus was on how to benefit the Uchiha clan once he ascended to power. He wasn't overly concerned about any objections from the Uchiha. There would undoubtedly be some dissent, as no one wanted to rush into marriage. However, once Reijin invoked the greater good of the clan, they would have no choice but to comply.
Shikaku received the order and immediately set things in motion. As for the reconstruction efforts, they were temporarily halted. Nothing was more important than Uchiha Reijin's wedding.
Shikaku was now fully embracing his role as a loyal subordinate. Whatever benefited the Uchiha clan was their priority. Concerns about potential losses for their own clan were secondary. The Uchiha's approval was all that mattered.
They hadn't needed to participate in the major battle, nor were they involved in day-to-day affairs. Their curReijint role was to support the Uchiha clan wholeheartedly. This arrangement was far more comfortable than serving under Hiruzen Sarutobi, who was constantly suspicious and manipulative.
Even Shikaku's understanding of Konoha had been limited. He had only seen the tip of the iceberg. Certain matters were beyond his reach.
In contrast, the Uchiha clan's internal affairs were largely left to Reijin. Others rarely interfered. Orders were given, and execution was swift and efficient, without unnecessary complications. Even financial matters, overseen by Uchiha Hiashi, were straightforward.
This was the true Konoha. As for the Hokage position, Shikaku, having tasted the sweetness of this new arrangement, was now contemplating relocating his entire clan. The Uchiha were powerful and direct in their dealings. While there was a risk of being manipulated, their numerous clans weReijin't fools. They were simply a bit naive at times, but otherwise capable.
They now felt a sense of being under the Senju's rule, reminiscent of the First Hokage's era.
The wedding preparations proceeded, albeit with limited resources due to their recent arrival. King Riku advocated for a simple ceremony to avoid burdening the people during Dressrosa's reconstruction.
The wedding was held at the King's Plateau, attended by a select group including the Marines, King Riku's former subordinates, the Uchiha clan, and the ninja clans they had brought with them. Even the childReijin Reijin had released from captivity were present.
Though modest, the wedding had its share of witnesses, all of whom were important figures. Reijin ensured that Viola was treated well.
During the ceremony, King Riku officially announced Reijin's succession to the throne of Dressrosa, with the Marines serving as witnesses. Everything was legitimate and proper, unlike Doflamingo's deceitful takeover.
The Marines had no objections. Tsuru simply observed the proceedings with a neutral expression. Darkness existed everywhere in this world. Dressrosa was fortunate that its royal family had survived and remained intact. Moreover, this newcomer seemed genuinely invested in Dressrosa's reconstruction, showing no signs of exploiting the situation for personal gain.
Therefore, the Marines saw no reason to intervene. As for King Riku's subordinates, they had even fewer qualms. Kyros stood beside King Riku, offering no dissent. Others, however, perceived the Uchiha clan as opportunists.
But they didn't say much.
That night, a young woman sat on the edge of the bed, feeling uneasy.
"Uchiha Reijin..."
Everything had happened within three days. On the day Doflamingo fell, Viola had reunited with her father, but it also brought her a nightmare: she had been promised to someone else.
In the blink of an eye, she had become someone's bride without any mental preparation.
For the sake of her country, her father, and her niece, Viola chose not to resist and accepted her fate.
This was her destiny. If she refused, the burden would likely fall upon Rebecca. She had to shoulder this responsibility.
"Click!"
The door opened softly, and a man with short black hair entered. He dismissed the attending maids with a wave of his hand, leaving only the two of them in the room.
Viola had tried to mentally prepare herself, but the moment Reijin arrived, her heart raced with anxiety. She didn't know what to do, her hands fidgeting nervously.
"Come here," Reijin said, looking Viola up and down.
She had tanned skin, long brown hair, and her legs trembled slightly, betraying her nervousness.
Viola rose and walked towards Reijin with small steps.
"Whether this is a transaction or not, we're family now," Reijin said, gently stroking her hair. "I've never seen you as a commodity. You don't need to feel any pressure."
This arrangement was crucial to Reijin. It allowed him to legitimately take over the country and become its king. Viola was merely a means to an end. A foreigner suddenly inheriting the throne would raise eyebrows. However, by marrying Viola, any objections would be silenced. There were countless historical examples of sons-in-law inheriting kingdoms.
"Yes," Viola replied, relieved but still unable to fully relax. Such matters couldn't be easily dismissed.
The lights in the room suddenly went out, and Viola was pushed onto the bed.
That night, you hurt me...
The next day, news of Uchiha Reijin's ascension to the throne of Dressrosa spread throughout the kingdom. However, in this war-torn land undergoing reconstruction, few paid much attention.
But when Reijin arrived with a massive shipment of supplies to aid in the rebuilding efforts, countless people cheered for their new king. The entire nation expressed gratitude towards Reijin.
Did it matter that he was the one who had caused the destruction in the first place? Reijin was seen as a righteous force who had liberated them from Doflamingo's tyranny and exposed the truth about Dressrosa's dark past. Without him, they might still be living in ignorance.
Now, Reijin was even providing substantial aid for the reconstruction. Who else deserved their praise?
As for King Riku, he was actively involved in the rebuilding efforts, working alongside the people. While this moved them, gratitude alone couldn't fill their stomachs.
Meanwhile, at the King's Plateau, all those Reijin had brought with him gathered, including Viola was also present; Reijin had no intention of hiding anything.
"I've established a foothold for us in this world," Reijin declared, addressing the over four hundred people before him. Less than three hundred were Uchiha, and among them, over eighty were elderly. The Uchiha clan was curReijintly short on able-bodied adults.
"What orders do you have for us?" Uchiha Hiashi inquired.
Everyone looked at Reijin curiously. He had always been lenient with his clan members, never imposing many demands beyond obedience. But now, he was establishing rules... Though unspoken, they feared a return to the restrictions they had faced in Konoha.
"I have no other demands of you. My only request is to expand the Uchiha clan," Reijin stated, observing their expressions.
"Expand?" The Uchiha exchanged puzzled glances, unsure of Reijin's intentions.
Nara Shikaku, seated nearby, couldn't help but twitch his lips. Others might be confused, but he instantly understood. Only Reijin could come up with such an idea.
"The remaining members of the Uchiha clan are a mere fraction of what we once were during our peak," Reijin continued. "We're on the brink of extinction. How can you still be laughing?"
"Don't think I'm joking. We only have about forty childReijin left. In a few generations, we'll be practically extinct. Do you want the Uchiha to vanish from this world like the Senju?"
Seeing some smiles, Reijin assumed they thought he was jesting. But he was dead serious. The Uchiha clan should be as large as the Sarutobi clan. With their curReijint numbers, they could be wiped out in a couple of battles. This was no laughing matter.
"Lord Reijin, what should we do?" Uchiha Tetsu inquired, playing along.
"Marry and have childReijin. Some of you may already have wives and strong bonds. But I encourage polygamy. If you prefer to avoid complicated relationships, simply have at least three childReijin within five years. That's my only requirement," Reijin explained.
The Uchiha were taken aback. They found Reijin's demand outrageous. Having at least three childReijin within five years was no easy feat. They couldn't dedicate themselves entirely to procreation.
"But Lord Reijin, shouldn't we take a more gradual approach?" one Uchiha with three tomoe Sharingan suggested. "Perhaps those without awakened Sharingan should focus on having child with Reijin..."
This sparked glares from those without Sharingan, but they could only sigh in resignation. It wasn't their fault their eyes hadn't awakened.
