Alexander glanced at the old man, who eyed him like a prey.
"Are you the owner?" Alexander asked softly, making sure not to appear rude.
"I think I asked first," the old man stated, raising his brows and glancing at Alexander's attire.
Alexander's eyes twitched since he didn't like to submit to a commoner, but he had to. "Yes, I'm looking for books. A couple, to be honest," he replied, hoping it would bait the old man.
"Oh.." The old man's eyes twinkled, and he hurriedly opened the door widely. "We don't open this early, but for you, I will. Come in," he said enthusiastically.
Alexander smiled in delight since his plans weren't doom after all. He followed the old man and entered the bookstore; it was clean and decent but not enough to impress him.
"Okay, what books are you looking for? We almost have everything here. Even the old, rotten ones," the old man stated, looking at the sheets of paper on his table.
Creation is hard, cheer me up!
