50% India: I became a Politician / Chapter 11: Arriving in Pune

章 11: Arriving in Pune

The candle march that started from Mumbai, with about 200 people outside of the party joining it, including some bollywood stars like Amitabh Singh.

Who is Amitabh Singh? Nobody really knows. He is a young kid trying anything to get attention to become an actor.

From the police, leading more than 1000 people wasn't allowed, since Maharashtra has Congress-led alliance government currently. And the alliance parties are like CPI(M).

While no problem was faced in the Mumbai and Pune regions, party members occasionally riding their bikes as people joined to keep the number of people in the march at about a thousand, and taking some rest as well.

As for Shreya, she was absolutely exhausted, and her feet were already in pain.

'I suddenly feel some respect for Gandhiji.'

Just getting to Pune took 8 days. And everyone was severely exhausted.

The media was in their vehicles and filming everything. Perhaps the allegations of being silent on the genocide has hit the media very badly afterall.

From Bengaluru, Sukesh is leading the march, and the two marchs will meet at Nagpur, from where they will take trains to delhi.

"Look at her feet bla bla bla!"

I was getting tired of those reporters, not letting us rest properly.

"Keep your voice down! Everyone is exhausted! Leave the commentary to your studios."

Shreya shut up those annoying reporters. Just why do they need to be always shouting?

The whole march laid down in the ground where Shreya's second rally is going to be.

Unlike Mumbai, Pune can expand more easily horizontally. So it can house more manufacturing than Mumbai. If the frieght transport network wasn't so bad, Nagpur and its surrounding area would have been perfect, since it is more central to the country too.

She looked at her feet, and they were in horrible condition. Perhaps walking to Nagpur is a bad idea? It will take atleast two months to reach there.

After an hour of everyone laying down, Shreya decided that she isn't going to stand for this rally. She is just going to sit.

"Can we walk all the way to Nagpur?"

Pretty much everyone shook their head.

"Well, congratulations then. Our goal wasn't to walk all the way to Nagpur. That's about 770 kms from Mumbai. And we are taking a longer path by coming to Pune as well.

The goal isn't for us to walk all the way to there. It is to make people aware. Make the country aware. We will rest here for 6 more hours, and then, we are heading by train. Since we can't bring candles in it, I will be walking my way there, with lifts from the party members occasionally.

I know you all are exhausted, so go to Nagpur by train and stay there for a week. I will take a week to reach there with all the lifts."

Most of them agreed. And proceeded to sleep in the ground.

Some people kept guard in rotation, and sufficient number of police was also present. So everyone drifted into sleep. The sun has set some hours ago, and everyone was given blankets since it is still January.
