Xi Ming's eyes flickered to the guard beside him. He unsheathed the sword at the guard's waist and swung it, the blade crackling against the marble tiles before he raised it and cut off the head of an armed man who was about to attack him.

"Protect the Empress!" Xi Ming ordered fiercely to his shadow guards as he stabbed another armed man.

Ye Jin kicked a knife out of an attacker's hand, caught it mid-air, flipped it, and drove it into the man's throat, blood gushing out.

She glanced at Xi Ming and smirked.

"Remember who made the promise to protect you?"

Xi Ming frowned. "Well, it's my turn to protect you, and I don't want you to get hurt."
