Miriam woke up with a panic attack, balls of perspiration trickled down her face as she scanned around the room frantically. The moment her eyes caught sight of Lucian and Simon seated by her side, her anxiety and fear seemed to wither away for a moment.

Just a second ago she had opened her eyes to meet Ronald standing over her bed. She had caught him mixing something into her medicine, and before she could scream for help, he had overpowered her and forced the liquid down her throat. She had lost consciousness almost immediately, and the last place she expected to find herself was in the middle of her younger brother and his squire.

"Lucian? Simon? What are you doing here...?" Miriam inquired as she slowly did her best to steady her foggy mind and vision.

Lucian immediately reached for Miriam's hand, his touch gentle yet filled with concern. "You're safe now, Miriam. We're here because Ronald brought you to us."
