Jacquelyn wrapped her arms around Kael's neck, with her head buried in his chest. She didn't know if she could ever come out of this shame or look at Kael's face again. How could she have pushed her husband away? Jacquelyn wanted to scream and yank her hair out, but she couldn't because Kael was holding her. Though his gaze had softened and his voice was calm, Jacquelyn didn't know if he was still annoyed and might decide not to kiss her again.

How was she going to bring herself out of this? Jacquelyn screamed internally. After so many long moments of self-loathing, she finally relaxed and so did the wetness between her thighs. Jacquelyn allowed herself to feel Kael's body and his muscular chest. She had seen it before, and now she was resting on it. Jacquelyn listened closely to hear his heartbeat, to know if it was beating as helplessly as hers, but all she heard was silence.
