章 14: Silence and Ecstacy
"What a goal," the commentator said still trying to process what just happened.
'Did every fan here came to watch just Daisuke?' Sung-Min said to himself in reaction to the sudden silence in the fan section after he scored the goal. He dropped the ball at the center.
"It's game on!" The commentator said enthusiastically.
Play restart with with only 20 minutes of play time left. After ssfely passing the ball around to each other, the ball was played to Jae Won, Daisuke's young left winger. He halted with the ball under his left foot, then he looked around trying to access the position of his teamates.
"You haven't stopped me today, and you are not stopping me now." Jae won said to Momyung's left back who Immidiately closed in on him.
After throwing his leg over the ball a few times, Jae Won tipped the ball forward, past the left back to make it a race to the ball. He started running to the ball and the left back followed suit, giving him barely any space. Jae Won got to the ball first, and broke his run with a Ronaldo chop to the right. This threw the left back off and Jae Won seized that little moment of disarray and ran off with the ball to the edge of the penalty box. From there, he took his shot giving the ball a little curve as it hit the air.
The goalkeeper threw himself into the air with his arms outstretched to block the incoming shot. The ball flew past the goalkeeper with a curve, the fans instantly stood up to scream. The ball hit the woodwork and bounced back into play, a loud was heard throughout the stadium. The ball rolled to the captain, who passed it to Ji Su, the defensive midfielder who then passed the ball to the left winger Min Ho.
The wing is usually played by very fast and skillful set of players. Min Ho had neither of the two, his only weapon was his precision. Daisuke's denfensive left back Immidiately ran towards Min Ho to make the tackle.
Knowing he couldn't get past him with either skills nor speed, Min Ho turned around, saw Sung-Min, and then passed the ball to him.
The ball at Sung Min's feet sent danger signals to the left back, and he immediately ran towards Min Ho to make the tackle.
The opposing defensive joined in too, hoping that a double marking will get the ball off Sung Min.
Sung Min made a move with the ball, then he tipped the ball over the left back to Min Ho who already started running.
The left back turned instantly to move to Min Ho, because Min Ho had some seconds head start, he already created a little distance between them.
As the Left Back was about to finally get to the ball, Min Ho crossed the ball from the wing to the penalty box.
Horata, who was already at the eighteen yard box began calculating the speed and velocity of the ball. So he can determine the point where the ball will drop so he can time his movement well. His calculations was inch perfect because the ball dropped right on his head, and he redirected it to the goal post.
The goalkeeper dived, giving himself a good stretch to successfully punch the ball away from the goal post.
"What a crazy save from the goalkeeper!!!" The commentator yelled out.
Through a series of passes, the ball was back at Momyung Fc's half. The ball was in the possession of Jae Won, he tried to dribble past again but the defensive left back saw through his tricks and stopped his advance by blocking the ball.
Luckily for him he got the ball back before it rolled out of play, then he just started running with the ball rolling on the 'throw in' line with the left back running side by side with him.
He then crossed the ball to the penalty box, a slight touch by the left backs leg reduced the ball's momentum by making it fly higher than it should've.
Momyung's defender got to the ball first and headed it out of the penalty box and into the feet Hong So, Daisuke's attacking midfielder who then struck the ball before it touched the grass.
The goalkeeper dived to the direction of the volley but the ball was stopped mid way in the penalty box by the arm of one of his defender.
The referee Immidiately blew his whistle and pointed to the penalty spot, he then walked to the defender that blocked the shot and gave him a straight red card.
Every single Momyung's player ran to the referee in shock
"That was unintentional!" The captain yelled out.
"I didn't even know the ball will hit my hand." The defender argued innocently.
"He blocked a clear goal." The referee said as he wrote the defender's name at the back of the card.
"Unintentionally!" The defender argued.
"Please leave the football pitch." The referee said while pointing to the tunnel.
After throwing his hand up in defeat, the defender walked off the pitch with his head down and fists clenched.
Baek Dong picked up the ball and dropped it at the penalty spot after everyone has cleared off the penalty box.
Momyung's goalie readied himself for the shot with his feet planted firmly on the goal line, and his arms outstretched.
Baek Dong took the shot and the goal keeper dived to the bottom left, while watching the ball slowly hit the net at the top right corner.
"Goall!!!!!!!" The stadium erupted in ecstasy.
Baek Dong did the knee slide with his hand on his ear as his celebration while his teamates threw themselves on him.
"With just five minutes left to play, Momyung Fc is down one goal and one man, is this the end for them?"
Play restarted with Momyung in possession of the ball. They passed the ball around with no press from the opposing team because every one of the players withdrew to their own half waiting for Momyung to bring the ball to them.
Momyung players knew that if they lose the ball the game will be over for them. The passed the ball around to one another, scared of taking risks that they don't even attack.
The assistant referee raised his board as the time hit the 90th minute to show that just 2 minutes of extra time will be added.
The ball finally got to Sung Min at the wing, and threw people covered him Immidiately.
'I can't get past all three of them.... I can try.. but I might lose the ball..." He turned and passed the back to Tae Hyun who returned the ball to the defenders.
"Daisuke has created a wall, no one can get past them now. With this shape, the game is going to end with this scoreline, and they are happy to keep it this way.
After series of passes, the ball got back to Sung Min, this time he was in the midfield.
Only one person came to tackle him, while the others waited for him to bring the ball closer. He moved the ball swiftly past the opponent and from 24 miles away from goal he kicked the ball with all the strength in his right leg.

The ball flew past every opposing player and into the goal post. The goalkeeper just stood still and watched.
"What a goal!!!" The commentators yelled out while the stadium went grave silent again. Even though Sung Min wanted to pick the ball and continue the game. His teamates started jumping on him while screaming in joy.
"With just few minutes left to play, will Momyung finally get a win? Or will Daisuke pull one back once again?!" Tanaka commented.
"A late drama has begun."
