Valerie smiled warmly. "Although you two broke the company's rules, putting me in a difficult position, I'm not going to fire you." She uncrossed her legs and got up from the couch, heading to her desk. She grabbed a document from the desk and walked back, leaving Grace confused.

"My reputation and integrity must be maintained," Valerie explained. "If I don't take action, your fellow employees might think I'm showing favoritism towards you." She flashed a sly grin, adding, "Though, I am."

Valerie tossed the document onto the table before Grace, then settled into her chair. With a nod, she gestured for Grace to take a seat.

"I'm demoting you..." Valerie coughed into her fist, a sly grin spreading across her face. "I'm making you the head of the HR department."

Valerie sighed, her expression turning serious. "I'm aggrieved, Grace. Why did you have to fall in love with a North Xorian?"
