In the year 1480 of the Sea Calendar, Sharlo turned eighteen.
The following morning, Sharlo, accompanied by a dozen loyal followers, set sail on three fishing boats that had been modified from pirate ships. These men, skilled sailors, eagerly volunteered to join Sharlo on his mission to hunt Sea Kings.
As the boats left the port and ventured into the vast unknown ocean, Sharlo felt a mix of excitement and readiness for battle. This was the farthest he had ever sailed. When the port quickly disappeared from sight, he steadied himself.
"Captain, there's a ship ahead!" one of the crew members called out as they spotted a ship in the distance. Sharlo stood on the deck, closed his eyes, and used his Observation Haki to sense the approaching vessel.
Suddenly, a loud explosion echoed from afar. It was clear—they were being targeted by a pirate ship. Sharlo opened his eyes to see a cannonball flying toward their boat, although the enemy's aim was off, with the cannonballs landing around them. Despite the near misses, the crew was thrown into a panic.
"Don't panic! I'm here!" Sharlo's voice resonated through the boat, calming the crew. He instructed them to focus on maneuvering the boat while he handled the pirates.
Leaping into the air, Sharlo punched a cannonball that was on a collision course with their boat, shattering it mid-air. He landed back on the deck unscathed, earning cheers from his crew.
"Boss is amazing!" they shouted, filled with renewed confidence.
Meanwhile, on the pirate ship, the crew watched in disbelief. "Captain, he's no ordinary kid," a lookout reported.
"Don't be afraid! We have the numbers. Get closer!" the pirate captain barked, shoving the lookout aside.
As the pirate ship approached, Sharlo smiled. He had worried they would keep their distance and bombard him with cannonballs. Now, they were coming within reach. "Stay calm. I'll handle them," he reassured his crew before jumping into the air, using a rudimentary version of the Marines' Moonwalk technique to propel himself toward the pirate ship.
"What the hell? Who are you?" the pirate captain demanded, unnerved by Sharlo's sudden appearance.
"You're pirates, right?" Sharlo asked, glancing at the large pirate flag. Without waiting for an answer, he lunged at the captain, landing a punch that knocked him to the ground.
"Attack!" the captain, clutching his face, ordered his men.
Sharlo grinned, not even bothering to draw his sword. He waded into the fray with his fists, taking down pirate after pirate. Each blow was lethal, leaving shattered chests and crushed skulls in his wake.
The pirate captain, witnessing the carnage, stumbled backward in fear. Sharlo, his fists bloodied, approached. He didn't give the captain a chance to react, delivering a fatal punch that decapitated him.
Looking around at the carnage, Sharlo mused, "When did I become this ruthless? Not a single survivor." He waved to his boat, signaling his crew to come over. They navigated closer, gawking at the bodies strewn across the deck.
"B-boss!" they stammered, legs trembling.
"Pile these bodies together. We'll use them to attract Sea Kings," Sharlo ordered. He preferred this method over aimlessly searching the sea.
"Y-yes, sir," the crew responded, shaky but compliant.
Sharlo entered the pirate ship's cabin, searching for valuables. He found a treasure chest in the captain's quarters and eagerly opened it, hoping for a Devil Fruit. Instead, he found a set of maps.
"What's this?" he muttered, unfolding the maps. "A treasure map, maybe?" The charts showed routes and locations, potentially leading to the pirate captain's hidden treasure. He decided to keep them for future reference. He also found a few bounty posters, including one for the pirate captain worth a mere eleven million Berries.
"Hmph, only eleven million and he dared to act so boldly," Sharlo scoffed. Searching further, he found about six million Berries, which he pocketed.
Suddenly, he heard a cry from his boat. "Boss, help! So many Sea Kings!"
Sharlo extended his Observation Haki and gasped. "How many are there? Did I stumble upon a nest?" He rushed out to see the pirate ship surrounded by Sea Kings.
"Quick, throw the bodies to distract them and get us out of here!" Sharlo commanded. The crew hurried to comply, but the Sea Kings blocked their escape route.
"Boss, the Sea Kings are blocking our way!" the helmsman cried out in despair.
"Damn it!" Sharlo drew his sword, ready for a fight.
