LEON
There is a numb pain in my shoulder as I let Joe lean on me and sleep. His breathing is even and he is surprisingly so quiet when he is sleeping. His sandy black hair is falling over his forehead, I can't see his green eyes but that is fine.
I stare at him for who knows how long and the ache in my shoulder is growing. Well it is not like I am complaining or I am actually minding it. It is just the pain here, it is reminding me that I am still awake and it's not a dream.
After midnight, someone walks in through the front door. John is carrying a sleeping Steeve in his arms. This little boy doesn't seem to have grown much since the last time I saw him at Leo's Christmas dinner last year.
John halts as he spots me and Joe on the couch. His eyes widen as realization hits him at last, "Oh God… I am so sorry!" John exclaims apologetically, "I totally forgot about you guys!"
