She threw off the thin blanket and walked barefoot on the soft carpet toward the bathroom, scooping up some cold water to splash on her face.

Her reflection in the mirror was haggard and bewildered, with bloodshot eyes and pale lips tinged with a hint of crimson.

Qiao Zhaoyue pulled out a tissue to wipe the corner of her mouth.

She looked up at herself in the mirror and let out a bitter laugh.
