章 48: Chapter 48: What are you pretending to be?

The Spartan front kick, known for its devastating power, channels force through the heel, making it one of the most lethal strikes in martial arts.

"Puff!"

Even Lou Huiying, renowned for her strength, doubled over like a cooked shrimp as the brutal kick connected with her vulnerable spot. She clutched her abdomen with both hands, blood and bile spewing from her mouth.

Xue Jing didn't hesitate. He pressed his advantage, lifting his right leg high into the air, gathering every ounce of his strength, and brought it down like a guillotine's blade.

Lou Huiying, still bent over in pain, took the full force of the blow on the back of her head. The impact drove her face-first into the concrete, sending dust and debris flying. Cracks radiated from the point of impact, forming a meter-wide circle.

Lou Huiying lay still, her once-mighty presence reduced to a motionless heap on the ground. The black crown she had worn rolled off to the side, its once ominous aura now dormant. In the aftermath, it seemed like nothing more than an ordinary hair accessory.

The onlookers stood in stunned silence, their eyes wide with disbelief at the young man's terrifying power and his ruthless dismantling of Lou Huiying.

Xue Jing, unperturbed by their stares, calmly adjusted his glasses, which had been knocked askew by his movements. He bent down and picked up [GOD-1105: Crown of the Evil Woman].

[Divine matter detected, absorbing divinity…]

He took a photo of the black crown with his cell phone and sent it to Wu Youqing.

"Sheltering was successful," Xue Jing murmured to himself.

With one last glance at Lou Huiying, still unmoving, he gently turned her over with his foot, ensuring she wouldn't suffocate with her face buried in the concrete.

As for the justice she deserved for the atrocities she had committed under the crown's influence, Xue Jing decided to leave that to the people of Nancheng District. The residents, honest and resilient, would surely ensure that Lou Huiying, now powerless and just another ordinary person, faced the consequences of her actions.

Just as Xue Jing was about to leave, a low, indifferent voice came from behind him

"Oh? Seems I'm just in time."

"Hey, kid."

"Hand over what you have. You're not worthy of touching it."

Xue Jing paused, then slowly turned to face the speaker.

The man standing before him was imposing, dressed in a sharp suit and tie. His attire was immaculate, his hair slicked back with not a strand out of place, exuding an air of meticulousness that bordered on Obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD).

His face was hard, his eyes cold and dismissive as they bored into Xue Jing with a condescending gaze.

Xue Jing studied the man's features, feeling a strange unease. The man's skin was unnaturally pale, with visible seams suggesting it had been stitched together with precision. His eyes were mismatched: one was a normal black, while the other glowed a dark, menacing red.

"What if I refuse?" Xue Jing replied, his voice steady.

He glanced at the panel. In the divine skill section, beneath the [Twins] skill, wisps of golden light gathered and coalesced.

He recognized this phenomenon. It had indicated the activation of [Twins] when encountering a divine relic for the first time—a new divine skill was emerging.

Closing the panel, Xue Jing tucked the [Crown of the Evil Woman] into his collar, ensuring constant contact with his skin.

The man's eyes narrowed at the gesture.

"Boy, you're courting death."

The man discarded his suit jacket and advanced, loosening his tie as if preparing for a fight.

Through the lens of his dark red prosthetic eye, data on Xue Jing was rapidly analyzed.

[Estimated physical level: 1.7~1.9]

[Body alienation rate: less than 1%]

[Traces of martial arts training detected; combat style cannot be calculated.]

The analysis culminated in a final assessment.

[Comprehensive hazard level: 2.1~2.5]

The man was mildly surprised by the result. The kid looked barely sixteen or seventeen—remarkable talent for someone living in the Outer Ring City to have a level above 2 at such an age.

But it wasn't enough.

Contempt flashed in the man's eyes.

"Boy, I'll give you one last chance."

"Hand it over."

He stepped up to Xue Jing, arms crossed.

"I'll spare your life and only break one hand and foot."

"Kneel and thank me for my mercy."

The man's words dripped with condescension.

Xue Jing remained silent for a moment, then smiled

"You've never been this pretentious before, have you?"

The man's eyes chilled.

"Let me guess. You're probably the type who grovels and begs to join circles you don't belong to. Now that you think you've made it, you look down on others, trying to emulate the upper class you're so desperate to impress."

"But you've never really pretended before, have you? It's awkward. Listening to you is almost painful."

Xue Jing's grin was as bright as the sun.

"I'm curious—why does a lowly lapdog like you pretend to be something you're not?"

A nearby member of the Razor Gang couldn't hold back a snicker.

"Puff…"

The man's face darkened at the sound, his red prosthetic eye flickering with rage.

"You're dead… You're dead… You're dead…"

"I'm going to kill you!"

Just as the man prepared to strike, Xue Jing took the initiative, aiming a swift kick at his crotch.

"Snap!"

The man's expression remained scornful

"A pathetic fighter relying on cheap tricks. How could I not be prepared?"

Xue Jing realized something was wrong. His kick felt as though it had hit a rubber tire rather than a human body—hard and unyielding.

"It's over!"

The man lunged at Xue Jing, moving with predatory speed.

Based on the prosthetic eye's analysis, the man was confident that Xue Jing, with his physical level below 2, couldn't evade at such close range.

Yet, he missed.

Xue Jing dodged with agility, ducking under the man's grasp and retreating swiftly.

Then, without hesitation, Xue Jing turned and sprinted away!

"Damn it!"

The man roared, stomping the ground as he gave chase.

Xue Jing navigated through the maze-like alleys, his thoughts racing.

'Who is this guy? An intern from another agency?'

'His body's odd… is he enhanced? Or does he have xenotransplants?'

'Outer Ring City prohibits xenotransplants… Is he from the Inner Ring City?'

Loud crashes echoed behind him.

Xue Jing glanced back.

Unlike him, who relied on agility to traverse walls and alleys, the man charged like a tank, smashing through obstacles in a relentless straight line.

Seeing the distance closing and feeling his [Twins] boost beginning to wane, Xue Jing checked the divinity absorption progress.

The pale golden light continued to gather.

"Let's buy some time and see what the new divine skill is," Xue Jing decided.

He darted into another alley, his gaze sweeping the ground like lightning. He quickly found and picked up a rusty, bent iron nail.
