A faint smile touched Madam Quinn's lips as she poured herself a cup of tea, her mind turning over the events of the afternoon. The delicate clinking of the china filled the silence in her study until a soft knock on the door interrupted her thoughts.
"Come in," she called, her voice calm yet commanding.
The door opened, and Alex stepped inside, his face serious, his stride purposeful. He closed the door behind him, pausing for a moment before approaching her.
"Do you have a minute?" he asked, and when she gave him a nod, he bowed his head slightly in respect as he took a seat across from her.
"Why haven't you left for the station yet? Isn't Chloe going to give her statement to the police?" Madam Quinn asked as she set her teacup down.
"She went to use the restroom'," Alex explained.
