章 50: Chapter 50: Stelle's Quick Sleep Techniques

"The match... begins!"

"The match is over!"

"With a time of 0.5 seconds! Let's once again congratulate the Pink-Haired Scientist Duo for setting a new record!"

"…Huh?" Scott was completely stunned.

Yes, the machine soldier was indeed the one that had been charmed by Gu Tang and had become his ally. Hence, it would never oppose Gu Tang and surrendered instantly.

Relying on the machine's reflexes, it surrendered even faster than the previous drifter brothers.

"I see, you found a new job here and plan to start a new life… That's nice," Gu Tang said, nodding with satisfaction as he conversed with the machine soldier.

March 7th looked at the machine soldier with confusion, "Did it say anything?"

Scott's hands trembled as he handed over a large bag of money to Gu Tang.

Gu Tang caught it with a casual slap and stuffed it into his storage bag, nonchalantly saying, "Thanks."

The group left the boxing gym, leaving Scott alone in the chilly wind.

"Sigh, in the end, I didn't even get to make a move. I wanted to show off in front of Gu Tang," March 7th said regretfully.

Dan Heng looked up at the sky, a tear rolling down his cheek, "Ah… the heavens are so cruel to me..."

He seemed far more regretful than March 7th.

"I still think we should beat that old man up," Stelle said, tapping her bat against her palm.

March 7th persuaded, "Forget it. He's already old; a few hits from you might just do him in. Besides, I think he's already lost quite a lot this time."

They continued to have fun for a while, using the money they got from Scott to have a big meal.

When it was about time, they returned to the inn to rest, as they had a busy day ahead tomorrow.

Interestingly, the inn here was called the Goethe Grand Hotel, the same name as the one in the upper district.

When March 7th and the others first stayed here and heard the name, they immediately became wary.

After all, back in the upper district, they were surrounded by the Iron Guards and became fugitives while resting at the Goethe Hotel.

Of course, Gu Tang didn't feel anything about it since his intelligence wasn't enough to remember something that long ago.

--------------------------------

"Phew... That feels great..."

Stelle walked out of the bathroom, drying her hair.

She was covered in steaming white mist, and her skin was rosy and smooth from the bath, with a few drops of water running down her graceful curves.

"Looks like I'll have a good night's sleep tonight," Stelle said, feeling relaxed.

Finding Gu Tang, eating delicious food, and fighting—was there a more perfect day than this?

Stelle stroked her body, feeling the smoothness of her skin.

The injuries she had sustained today had completely healed, without a single scar.

"Seems like my body is quite resilient..." she nodded.

She collapsed onto the soft bed, letting the sleepiness drag her consciousness into the depths...

"I lost her… My wish, your so-called plan… What's the point of it all?"

The voice belonged to Cocolia.

Unlike the previous childish tone, this time Cocolia's voice was exactly the same as what they heard at the Copperbell Fortress.

"Abandon despair... Abandon sorrow... Abandon useless emotions..."

"Shut up! She is my daughter, my only..."

"What do you know, you soulless entities? You will never understand… never!"

Don't worry, your daughter is doing quite well in the lower district.

Killing machine soldiers, drinking heavily, flirting with handsome guys, quite a life.

Even though Stelle knew it was a dream, she couldn't help but retort.

Gu Tang had also told them about Bronya's activities over the past few days; it seemed that the Great Guardian's daughter was quite adaptable to life in the lower district.

"You haven't lost her… She's waiting to reunite with you on the other side."

"A new world…"

"Stand up… Guardian…"

"Fulfill your destiny… Fulfill a mother's wish."

----------------------------

Stelle opened her eyes in bed.

"Darn it, didn't sleep well again..." she muttered, sitting up.

Since arriving on Jarilo-VI, she had often been plagued by these strange dreams.

At times like this, an ordinary person might choose to go outside and get some fresh air to relax.

But Stelle was no ordinary person.

She took out her bat and directly knocked herself on the head.

Thunk!

Stelle collapsed onto the bed.

This time, no dream could wake her.

-----------------------------------

Next to Stelle's room was Gu Tang's.

Unlike Stelle, Gu Tang was in a deep, baby-like sleep.

Unless it was something extremely unusual, Gu Tang wouldn't dream.

His intelligence was too low; his brain couldn't render dreams.

*Ding! Task "Collect Supplies" activated*

*Task Objective: Help Seele collect medical supplies*

*Reward: Skill "Fiery God Palm"*

Gu Tang slept like a baby, and this level of system notification couldn't wake him.

*Ding!* *Ding!* *Ding!* *Ding!*

Gu Tang slept like a corpse, and this level of system notification couldn't wake him.

*Ding!* *Ding!* *Ding!* *Ding!*

Gu Tang slept like an ancient mummy, and this level of system notification couldn't wake him.

*Ding!* *Ding!* *Ding!* *Ding!* *Ding!* *Ding!* *Ding!* *Ding!*

"..."

Gu Tang woke up very unhappily.

...

---------------------------------------

In the back alley of Natasha's clinic, Seele and Natasha were having a conversation.

"I got it. I'll go to Rivet Town and bring back the supplies," Seele nodded.

Natasha looked worried, "Isn't it too dangerous to go alone? Let Oleg send someone with you."

"The big guys haven't slept in days; they need to rest. Forcing themselves would only make them a burden. Besides, like you said, some of the miners are in critical condition, and time is life..." Seele shook her head.

"I'll help," a calm voice interrupted.

Gu Tang walked over.

Seele looked at him in surprise, "Huh? You're still awake?"

"I was woken up by something, so I decided to wander around and overheard your conversation," Gu Tang explained.

This was the truth.

Although the system had marked the task location on the map, he couldn't read maps and couldn't find it.

So he wandered aimlessly until he stumbled upon this place and overheard Seele and Natasha's conversation.

Gu Tang looked at Natasha, "Tell me about the situation."

"That incident in the mine left many injured. The clinic is overwhelmed, and we're running low on medical supplies. We need to get some from elsewhere," Natasha explained succinctly.

"I'm guessing this 'elsewhere' is dangerous," Gu Tang rubbed his chin.

"Yes... Seele and I aren't originally from this town. We come from a northern industrial town that was infiltrated by the Fragmentum years ago," Natasha said, with a mix of sadness and nostalgia as she looked at Seele before turning back to Gu Tang. "I used to run an orphanage and clinic there, but when the invasion happened, we had to move to Boulder Town."

"So, you need to go to that Fragmentum-infiltrated town to collect medical supplies. Got it, I'll go with you," Gu Tang nodded.

Seele stared at Gu Tang for a moment.

Then, she extended her right fist, "Alright, I owe you one."

Natasha smiled, "Seele's favors are precious."

Gu Tang bumped fists with Seele, "I'll make sure to use it well."

Their gesture was like that of close comrades.

"I feel the presence of a comrade," Dan Heng suddenly sat up in bed.

He looked around; the inn room was as quiet as ever.

"Was it an illusion..." he murmured, stuffing more photos of Gu Tang under his pillow, then lay back down and drifted off to sleep.

Dan Heng slept the best that night.

What, you ask about March 7th?

Stelle relieved stress through fighting, and March 7th had her own way of relieving stress, though it could only be done in the dead of night when no one was around.

...

...…

Yes, it was sneaking a midnight snack.
