After a brief introduction and exchange of pleasantries, Roger let Henrik fend for himself. The rest was not his concern; he took advantage of the lull and left the hall, making his way into the abandoned manor behind.
The sun at its zenith streamed through the windows, illuminating the room. Roger reached the end of the corridor, where the dark Shadow Gate still loomed.
He pushed the door open, and the scene changed. However, this time Roger noticed something different.
It was high noon in the real world, the sunlight radiant, but the world beyond the door, though still during the daylight hours, had a gloomy hue to the surrounding environment.
With plenty of time, he carefully checked each room one by one.
Everything was normal.
He pushed the door and stepped outside.
An eerie quiet surrounded him. Leaning against the crumbled outer wall of the manor, Roger walked slowly, covering every corner of the garden.
