Izuna's jutsu was no ordinary Fire Release; a close look revealed sharp, jagged edges in the flames, like the fangs of a mythical beast charging ferociously toward Senju Kawaragi. This Flame Release technique, a fusion of Fire and Lightning Release, combined the wide-reaching destruction of fire with the lightning's intense, high-speed impact.
Seeing the attack coming, Kawaragi responded with equal speed. He pressed his thumb to his palm, forming a complex seal. "Water Release: Aqua Spiral!" A massive waterspout erupted around him, spiraling upward and clashing against Izuna's Flame Release. The two forces met with a thunderous roar, like two ancient beasts locked in combat.
Ninjas nearby, even the most seasoned jōnin, scrambled to a safe distance, overwhelmed by the sheer power on display.
"This is what it means to fight on the level of clan leaders," Izuna muttered, his eyes narrowing as he assessed Kawaragi's technique. Despite his confidence, Izuna felt the gravity of the situation. Kawaragi wasn't Senju Hashirama, but his strength was still formidable.
Suddenly, hands shot up from the ground and clamped onto Izuna's ankles. "Earth Release: Head-Hunting Jutsu!" The earth pulled him downward, attempting to trap him. But Izuna's Susanoo manifested instantly, its skeletal arm wrenching a Senju jōnin from the ground and crushing him without hesitation.
"Focus on the other Uchiha! Leave Izuna to me!" Kawaragi barked, wary after seeing his comrade fall so swiftly.
With a sudden movement, Kawaragi's blade glinted as he slashed downward in a powerful, space-splitting attack. "Sky-Splitting Slash!" His S-rank sword technique, nearly on par with the legendary Raikiri, aimed directly at the weakest point of Susanoo's defenses.
"I can read you perfectly," Izuna retorted, his Sharingan whirling. He met Kawaragi's blade with his own kunai, sensing every movement in real-time thanks to Sage Mode. Their weapons clashed with a metallic ring as Izuna activated his Sharingan Genjutsu. Kawaragi hesitated mid-air, and Susanoo took advantage, thrusting a chakra-forged bayonet into Kawaragi's abdomen.
A nearby Uchiha chūnin cheered, "He's done for!"
But with a sudden puff of smoke, Kawaragi's form vanished—it was only a shadow clone. The real Kawaragi appeared behind him, turning the earth beneath Izuna into a swamp. "Earth Release: Earth Flow River!"
The ground softened, pulling Izuna downward. Kawaragi's assault was relentless; he quickly formed new seals, summoning four earth dragons that surrounded Izuna, each one roaring as it charged.
"Still alive, Uchiha brat?" Kawaragi roared, launching yet another combination: "Fire Release: Dragon Flame Jutsu!" He followed it with "Lightning Release: Thunder Flash!" The intense flames baked the ground, trapping Izuna in a paralyzing cage of heat and electricity.
The Uchiha forces looked on, their faces tense with worry. "Is the Deputy Chief all right?" Uchiha Akechi called out, anxiety clear in his voice.
Izuna's cold voice echoed from within the smoke. "Summoning Jutsu!"
With a thunderous explosion, a giant claw wreathed in blue flames broke through Kawaragi's attacks. It was Matatabi, the Two-Tails, her fierce blue flames dissipating the elemental jutsu and retaliating with her own. "Cat Flame Paws!" The blue inferno surged forward, nullifying Kawaragi's assault and forcing the Senju forces to retreat in shock.
"What…what is that?!" The Senju fighters had heard rumors of Izuna's terrifying power, but the sight of a tailed beast in the flesh was beyond anything they'd imagined.
Standing atop Matatabi's head, Izuna surveyed the battlefield, his gaze sharp and unyielding. He quickly assessed the situation; even with Matatabi's aid, the Senju had the advantage in numbers. A tactical retreat was the only option.
"Retreat!" Izuna commanded. "I'll cover the rear."
Uchiha Retsu, who had been locked in combat with Senju Yunma, broke away and shouted, "Everyone, fall back!"
The remaining Uchiha followed orders, executing swift Fire Release techniques to create a smoke screen and shield their escape. But Kawaragi was not one to let them go so easily.
"Wind Release: Vacuum Bullet!" Kawaragi's wind jutsu cleared the smoke, exposing the Uchiha forces once more.
But before he could press the advantage, he was confronted with a fearsome sight: Matatabi had her jaws wide open, a dark orb of dense, swirling chakra forming in her mouth—a Tailed Beast Bomb.
Kawaragi froze, his instincts screaming danger.
Izuna smirked coldly. "Matatabi, Tailed Beast Bomb—let's end this."
