Flap... Flap...
The sound of my wings quietly cutting through the air filled my sensitive ears as I slowly soared up into the dark night sky.
Swish...
The cold breeze caressed my scales, sending a shiver down my spine.
However, I didn't even feel it because of the fear that was pulsating through every fiber of my being.
I really didn't want to do this, but now, I can only move forward.
Although I was scared to death, I knew that there was no turning back.
Flap... Flap...
The higher I rose into the sky, the further I felt myself drifting away from my comfort zone.
I was in the same space as 'that' creature.
Turning my snout to the side, I tried to catch a glimpse of its White Scales but the night sky was empty and devoid of any hint of its presence.
'Why the hell would Wyverns have a camouflage ability?'
Cursing under my breath, I willed my wings to propel me even higher, rising slightly above the White Marble wall in the distance.
My goal was to reach the same altitude as the grey clouds hovering in the sky, so I could hide from the Wyvern.
Roar...
Somewhere in the distance, I heard the distinct sound of a fearsome roar, sending a chill down my spine.
It probably found another prey that tried to cross the border.
'It's now or never...'
Feeling the adrenaline coursing through my veins, I strained my wings and pushed myself against the air, propelling myself into one of the grey clouds that hugged the night sky.
As I soared into the protective embrace of the grey cloud, I couldn't help but steal a quick glance downward. The White Marble wall looked so far away, and the land beneath seemed to shrink in comparison to the vastness of the night sky. Fear still gripped me, but the cloud provided a small sanctuary, and for now, that was enough.
'It's like playing a horror game...'
As I moved deeper into the heart of the cloud, the world around me became obscured, and I hoped it would be enough to conceal my presence from the Wyvern's sharp eyes. My heart pounded in my chest, the beats echoing in my ears, and the sound of my breaths filled my mind.
'Focus, focus... I can't let fear cloud my judgment. I have to be smart about this. Maybe, just maybe, the cloud will confuse the Wyvern's senses. It won't find me here...'
I steadied my wings, trying to maintain a steady rhythm. The cloud's cool moisture clung to my scales, dampening them slightly, but I welcomed the sensation as it helped disguise my scent. My eyes darted around, searching for any sign of movement or glint of White Scales, but all I saw was the ever-changing mist.
Flap... Flap...
As moments passed, the fear began to ebb slightly, replaced by a mix of determination and curiosity.
Maybe the Wyvern was busy taking care of other intruders?
The thought was almost laughable, considering that a Wyvern trained by Demon Extinction Force would be hindered by some pesky creatures that tried to cross the border.
The cloud's gentle sway and the muted world within it were oddly comforting, and I found a sense of solace amid the chaos that awaited me outside. But I knew I couldn't stay hidden forever; I had a mission to complete, a goal to achieve.
'Alright, I can't linger here forever. The Wyvern will eventually move on, and I'll seize that opportunity to cross its territory unnoticed. I just need to be patient and bide my time.'
I flexed my wings, readying myself to leave the safety of the cloud. Taking a deep breath, I reminded myself that sometimes, great risks lead to even greater rewards. I might be frightened, but I couldn't let that stop me from doing what I knew needed to be done.
With renewed resolve, I burst out of the cloud's embrace, squinting at the brightness of the moonlit sky. I surveyed the area below, scanning for any signs of danger. The Wyvern's roar still echoed in the distance, a stark reminder of the peril that lurked around me.
'Here goes nothing.'
Flap... Flap...
I pushed myself forward, moving with greater purpose and a hint of desperation. The journey ahead was treacherous, and I couldn't afford to falter.
One...
The Wyvern was nowhere to see.
Two...
The night sky was still and quiet.
Three...
I think I might make it.
Four...
Maybe I really did cross the border?
Five...
I'm just moment-
Roar...
Suddenly, the roar shook the night sky and before I could even react, a massive maw descended upon me.
Crack...
My abdomen was split open without warning, and searing pain coursed through my body.
I was bitten in half by the damn Wyvern.
