Three days after the battle with the wolves, while Wu Ling was preparing to give Fang Lin yet another portion of broth, the young scholar's eyes finally fluttered open. For several breaths, he lay completely still, eyes staring at the unfamiliar bamboo ceiling above his head while he allowed his senses to slowly reveal the condition of his body. 

Surprisingly, the leg savaged by the Blood Moon Mist Wolf, while it ached with a dull, occasionally throbbing pain, didn't hurt nearly as much as the twinges and stings he felt from the opposite leg that had been clawed at when he tried to kick the wolf away.
