Chapter 222: The Great Filial Piety
_____
Aoki quietly focused on his newfound ability, Devour.
The skill allowed him to absorb suitable bloodline powers to strengthen himself.
At first glance, it seemed somewhat similar to Devouring Demons, but the two abilities had significant differences.
Devouring Demons allowed Aoki to gain a few attributes and skill points. By absorbing demons with spatial attributes, he could enhance Space Travel.
Devour, on the other hand, absorbed the bloodline's power and granted corresponding abilities.
For example, if he devoured a demon, he could obtain Blood Demon Magic.
Of course, the process wasn't perfect.
During fusion, the bloodline power would inevitably adapt to suit the Infinite Dragon Beast, resulting in slight modifications.
Even so, this did not diminish the potential of Devour.
He could absorb up to four distinct bloodline powers. With each level-up, he would gain the chance to fuse one.
"The targets must be carefully chosen."
Aoki closed the system, took a last glance around, and disappeared with a single thought.
---
The sun's harsh rays were blocked by parasols, and the faint aroma of tea lingered in the air.
Robin sat at a small table, a book in hand, though her focus was clearly elsewhere.
"I wonder if Aoki has managed to handle the Twin Blade Pirates."
If he failed, they would have to prepare to flee.
A sudden movement caught her attention. Aoki's figure appeared beside her, his expression calm. Without a word, he pulled out a chair and sat down.
"What are you thinking about?" he asked, breaking the silence.
Robin flinched slightly. "Aoki? You're back?"
"I finished my work and came back," he replied as if it were the most natural thing in the world.
"Already?"
Robin blinked in disbelief, her gem-like eyes widening. "You've dealt with the Twin Blade Pirates?"
Aoki nodded. "Yes. Didn't I say I'd be back soon?"
But this is way too fast!
Robin stared at him, dumbfounded. Less than a day had passed since he left. That wasn't even enough time to locate the Twin Blade Pirates, let alone eliminate them.
"How's your side coming along?" Aoki asked.
Robin shook off her astonishment and composed herself. "I'm ready."
"Good." Aoki glanced at the horizon. "It's getting dark. Let's move soon."
Robin was startled. "So soon? Shouldn't we make more preparations?"
"No need," Aoki replied confidently.
He hadn't even needed to use his Ultimate Form to destroy the Twin Blade Pirates. That alone was enough reassurance—there was nothing else to prepare.
"Well, if you're sure."
Robin nodded slowly, deciding not to press the matter. Aoki was in charge of the operation; he likely knew what he was doing better than she did.
---
As night fell, two figures stood side by side atop the roof of an abandoned building, gazing at the grand palace ahead.
"That's the palace," Robin said. "How do we get inside?"
"Like this."
Aoki spread his bat-like wings, gave a casual wave, and took off into the night sky, heading straight for the palace.
"A Devil fruit user, huh?"
Robin watched his retreating figure disappear into the darkness. She wasn't entirely surprised anymore.
She was beginning to understand how Aoki had taken down the Twin Blade Pirates and returned in such a short amount of time.
Under the cover of night, Aoki soared over the palace.
He moved with practiced ease—breaking into imperial palaces at night was something he had done many times before.
Compared to the grandeur and tight security of the Imperial Palace in the Akame ga kill world, the Ram Palace was far less impressive.
Its scale, luxury, and even its guards were lacking in comparison.
While the high-end powers in the pirate world were stronger than those in the Akame ga kill world, the Ram Kingdom was merely a small nation in the West Blue and far from representing the pirate world's peak.
Inside the Palace
Harold sat at a grand table, meticulously reviewing documents, his pen moving smoothly across the parchment.
Ding, ding, ding!
A sharp knock echoed through the room, breaking the silence.
"Come in!" Harold commanded without looking up.
Few dared disturb him at this hour, and only one person knocked with such urgency.
The door swung open, and Bonar strode in, his face grim. "Father, we have a problem!"
"What is it?" Harold asked, still focused on the document as his pen made two deliberate strokes.
Bonar took a deep breath. "I've just received news—the Twin Blade Pirates have been annihilated!"
Harold's hand paused mid-motion. He put the pen down carefully. "The Twin Blade Pirates? Not the Third Fleet?"
Bonar shook his head. "No, it's the Twin Blade Pirates. This afternoon, all the top leaders of the First and Second Fleets were killed!"
Harold's tone grew icy. "What happened?"
The Twin Blade Pirates were a critical asset to him, carefully cultivated and invaluable.
Bonar grimaced. "We're not sure. All the witnesses are dead. No one knows exactly what happened."
"All the witnesses… dead?"
The peculiar detail struck a chord with Harold.
Bonar nodded. "I suspect it's the same people who destroyed the experimental base in Barabbio."
Leaning back in his chair, Harold's gaze turned cold and calculating. "Investigate immediately! How dare they come to Ram! This is not Barabbio—they won't be allowed to run wild here. Whoever they are, find them and make them pay!"
"Yes, Father!" Bonar replied with deference.
Harold added sharply, "Notify the Navy and have them assist in the investigation. I pour a fortune into their coffers every year. Now it's time for them to earn it!"
A strange voice cut through the air.
"Excuse me, were you looking for me?"
The unexpected sound sent chills down Bonar's spine. Harold's expression darkened, his mouth opening to call for help.
Before a word escaped, a pitch-black tail coiled around Harold's neck. Its blade gleamed menacingly as it pressed against his skin, sending a cold shock through his veins.
Aoki stepped forward, his eyes scanning the pair. "What a coincidence—both of you are here."
He recognized them instantly from the pirate leader's memories: the king and crown prince of the Ram Kingdom.
Bonar's face hardened, his voice steady but tense. "Release my father! Do you intend to make an enemy of the Ram Kingdom?"
Aoki smirked. "Aren't we already enemies? Weren't you just discussing how to deal with me?"
Bonar's expression shifted. "So it was you… the one who destroyed Barabbio's experimental base and wiped out the Twin Blade Pirates?"
"The answer is correct," Aoki said coolly, "but there's no reward."
Bonar inhaled deeply, his tone growing serious. "What do you want? Don't harm my father—everything can be negotiated!"
Aoki tilted his head, a faintly amused expression on his face. "You're doing a poor job hiding the excitement in your eyes."
"Am I?" Bonar touched his face reflexively and sighed. The pretense dropped, replaced with candid honesty.
"Fine. I admit it—I'm in a good mood. The old man's finally going to die. You have no idea how long I've waited for this day!"
"How touching." Aoki turned his gaze to Harold, still restrained by his tail. "Your Majesty, it seems your parenting skills leave much to be desired."
Bonar, unapologetic, replied, "On the contrary, this proves my father's teaching was impeccable. My temperament is almost a mirror image of his."
Harold's face contorted with fury, and he managed to rasp out two bitter words: "Rebellious son!"
