Chapter 48: Pakura of the Scorch Release and the Priestess Miroku
May, Konoha's 59th Year.
Shishou welcomed his first guest to his mansion in Fire City: Pakura from the Sand Village.
Pakura had become a rising star, her strength and popularity threatening the position of the Fourth Kazekage, Rasa. Feeling this threat, Rasa betrayed Pakura in a political exchange with the Mist Village, trading her life for their financial support.
With the help of Shishou's healing insects, Pakura narrowly escaped death. Betrayed by her own village, she found herself lost and seeking refuge.
"Pakura, if you ever feel lost and have nowhere to go, you can always find me here," Shishou had once told her.
Remembering these words, Pakura hesitated briefly before making her way to Fire City.
"How did you know I would be betrayed by the Sand Village?" she asked, her voice tinged with bitterness and curiosity after some small talk.
Shishou, enjoying the sight of Pakura's forlorn expression, thought to himself, "Because I know the script, of course." But he didn't voice this. Instead, he asked, "Now that you're here, do you have any plans?"
Pakura shook her head. Though she had no intention of returning to the Sand Village, she was uncertain about her next steps.
"If you don't have any plans, you can stay here for now," Shishou offered. "I need a strong and experienced ally to help look after my household."
Though Uchiha Mikoto was a jonin, her combat experience was limited, and she wasn't yet at the elite jonin level. Yugao and Izumi, despite Shishou's training, were just touching the threshold of jonin.
If Pakura, an elite jonin with a bloodline limit, joined his ranks, Shishou could be more at ease, especially with his plans to take over the mining operations in Fire City.
Pakura nodded, accepting Shishou's offer. She had come here with the intention of seeking his protection.
Shishou then introduced Pakura to Mikoto and the others. While Izumi wasn't pleased about Pakura's arrival, there was little she could do.
Pakura would be responsible for training Mikoto, Izumi, and Yugao, enhancing their combat skills and teaching them chakra nature transformation. As an elite ninja with a kekkei genkai, Pakura was well-suited for this task.
As for Shishou, he was fully immersed in mastering Wood Release, showing little interest in chakra nature transformation for the time being.
In the capital city of the Land of Fire, Shishou visited the ninja black market to release two missions. One was to find Tsunade's whereabouts, and the other was to locate the turtle island of the Hidden Cloud Village. He sought Tsunade for her medical and Wood Release jutsus, and the turtle island for cultivating his Phosphorous Worms.
After exploring the black market without finding anything useful, Shishou used the Flying Thunder God Technique to travel to the Land of Demons.
At the Priestess's palace, he was greeted by Miroku with a smile. Shishou hadn't visited since bringing Karin and Eri Uzumaki to learn sealing techniques from her.
"Shishou, it's been a while," Miroku said, her face lighting up with surprise and joy at his unexpected visit.
"Priestess Miroku, would you like to go on a little adventure?" Shishou asked, smiling.
"An adventure?" Miroku was taken aback, feeling a surge of excitement. Though respected by her people, her role confined her to the palace.
"Is there any place you'd like to visit?" Shishou asked, noticing her interest.
"A priestess shouldn't leave the palace without important reasons," Miroku said, though she was clearly tempted. She had rarely left the palace, having no specific destination in mind.
"Well, let's visit the capital city of the Land of Fire," Shishou said, grabbing her shoulder and teleporting them away.
Miroku's protest was cut short as they appeared in a forest, then quickly shifted again, and again, until they stood in a bustling city. She was awestruck, having not seen such a lively scene since before she became a priestess.
"Your priestess robes stand out too much. Let's get you something different to wear," Shishou said, taking her hand and leading her to the shopping district.
"Sh-Shishou..." Miroku stammered, blushing as she tried to pull her hand away but failing.
Half an hour later, Miroku stepped out of the dressing room, shyly asking, "How do I look?" She was dressed in a simple white kimono, looking both elegant and serene.
"Wow, you look beautiful," Shishou thought, though he shook his head and handed her a different outfit—a sleek, professional dress.
After several changes, Shishou finally selected a fitted dress that accentuated Miroku's figure perfectly. They spent the day exploring the city, with Miroku marveling at everything, from amusement parks to cafes and shopping malls.
In a cozy café, Shishou handed her an ice cream. Miroku took a bite, her eyes lighting up with delight as she savored the taste. "Mmm, this is delicious!"
Shishou chuckled, pleased with her reaction. They enjoyed various sweets before heading out to continue their adventure.
As they left the café, Shishou extended his hand. Blushing, Miroku placed her hand in his. Being in the Land of Fire, surrounded by strangers, she felt more at ease and began to enjoy herself.
They spent the rest of the day hand in hand, exploring the city. Despite her enjoyment, Miroku remained mindful of her duties as a priestess and eventually requested to return to the palace.
Shishou agreed without hesitation and teleported them back, leaving Miroku with unforgettable memories of their day together.
