章 47: Shady Thoughts, Lacy Panties

"Here you go, Takashi. I made a bento for you. I think it turned out well today."
"Thanks. But really, you don't have to make one every day."
"You're letting me stay at your place, so it's the least I can do. Besides, it's no trouble at all. Actually, I'm more worried it's a bother to you. My cooking was pretty awful at first, even I could tell, though it's gotten better recently."

It's been about a month since Mitarai met Irina and they started living together.
'My relationship with Takashi has grown quite close. Seeing each other every day has changed the way we address one another.
Now, it feels like we're best friends, beyond just boy and girl. What surprised me, though, was finding out that despite living a life of a mere human, he had a contract with a famous devil from the Gremory Clan, and he had a dragonic aura that he didn't talk about.
I wondered why a human had such a devilish aura or if he was even a human and I found out about his connections when I asked him.
After that, I met with Rias Gremory and agreed with her views.
She told me about her last clash against Riser Phenex and how Mitarai helped her get her freedom once and for all from that arrogant devil, from the way she talked about Takashi I noticed they were more close to each other.
Our conversation came to an end, and we both agreed to take care of him and always be beside him, Rias had been taking care of Takashi-kun ever since he turned a devil, which annoyed me for a little while but when I learned the whole story I came to peace with it.
Takashi Mitarai who also gave me a place to stay in when I had no will to live, and I wanted to repay that kindness.
Days passed by and my feelings for him grew with every passing minute though we haven't become a couple yet, it seems just a matter of time. To make him more aware of me as a woman, I've been wearing revealing lingerie sometimes his shirt that I borrowed, spending every night in it. It's a bit big for me, but the way it clings to my body over my underwear makes my figure quite visible.
Seeing his blushing face fills my heart with joy.
I've lived as a warrior for so long, but maybe living as a woman wouldn't be so bad, and from how Rias talked about him, it seems there are still things I'm not quite familiar with Takashi.
However, from time to time I get those gloomy thoughts of my former partner, a girl who came to Kuoh following her mission, unlike me who abandoned mine and fled from the church.

While he is at school, I spend my time walking around the town. My skills as a former exorcist aren't just for show, I hunt down stray devils, getting paid by Rias for my efforts, which I then give to him, and as always he never accepts my money.
I've told him everything about my situation. Even though I have skills, my lack of experience and weapons makes him worry about me, which feels comforting, It's been so long since anyone cared or worried about me.
About a week ago, I discovered that I actually had a weapon. My former partner was a natural holy sword user, and it seems like natural holy swords attract each other because I turned out to be one too. In response to my wish to protect the one I love, I was able to obtain a Holy Sword that was even stronger than the one I had before.
Without letting power go to my head, I quietly continue to hunt stray devils. There's so much I didn't know when I was in the church, I discovered now that I'm free from all those bonds.
There, devils were taught to be absolutely evil, but I've come to realize there are good-hearted devils like Rias Gremory and Mitarai-kun.
So, strays might have their reasons too. According to Rias, not all strays are bad. However, I have my own reasons too: to earn money to live with Takashi and to gain the skills and experience to protect him.
'Now then, who will come today? Lately, no strays have shown up that could even be a challenge. It's a bit disappointing.' Irina thought to herself.
Kuoh Town attracts many stray devils. The main reason is that it's managed by the princess of Gremory Clan. With devils in charge, well-mannered devils and even the Maou visit often. For strays pretending to be harmless, it's an ideal place since they need to feed to survive, and humans make easy prey.
Additionally, strays are sometimes sent by war hawks hoping to reignite an ancient conflict. Rias used to send her peers to monitor the town during the day and would leave class to handle any issues.
Now it's different. With Irina Shidou, who possesses a Holy Weapon, patrolling during the day under the guise of a stroll, Rias can focus on her classes and her other things…
Shidou Irina returned home after successfully defeating a stray.
After washing her hands and gargling, she began preparing dinner. She put in great effort every day to cook delicious meals for Mitarai, but it didn't always go as planned. While her bento-making had recently improved to a decent level, her ability to prepare larger meals for dinner was still lacking.
"Maybe I'll make Hamburg steak today. He did say it's his favorite."
She took out the ingredients for the Hamburg steak from the fridge and quickly started cooking.
Thirty minutes later, the ingredients were ready to be cooked, and all that was left was to wait for his return. Once the dinner preparations were done, Irina moved on to her next tasks: cleaning the bath, and bringing in and folding the laundry. She diligently and happily carried out the household chores, like a good wife supporting her husband.
By the time she finished folding the laundry, Takashi had returned home, carrying a bag with something he had bought.
"Welcome back, Takashi."
"I'm home, Irina. I bought a cake as a treat. It's almost been a month since we met, so I thought it would be nice to celebrate."
"You didn't have to, but thank you. Let's have it after dinner. I tried making Hamburg steak today since you said you liked it."
"Awesome! I'll go run a bath, so please finish preparing dinner."
"Okay!"
The apartment they lived in was surprisingly spacious and well-kept despite its appearance.
It had three rooms, which had an interesting backstory. Originally, it had been renovated for the apartment manager to live in, but after some dissatisfaction, it was put up for rent. Mitarai found it and rented it at a reasonable price. It was a very comfortable place to live in especially with how many girls around him.
The apartment included a bath and a toilet, making it a rare find for the price. Takashi put the plug in the bathtub, turned on the faucet, and let the water run. While the bath filled, he changed out of his uniform and checked the water level before heading back to the dining area.
"Let's eat."
"Let's eat." Irina repeated.
Initially, Irina had kept her habit of praying before meals, but recently, she had simplified it to just saying "Let's eat."
She explained that she no longer needed the church's blessings, having gained her own strength.
The dinner on the table was already steaming. The Hamburg steak was a bit misshapen, but when he cut into it with his chopsticks, Mitarai found it perfectly cooked inside, with juices flowing out. The seared surface and demi-glace sauce added to the flavor, spreading happiness with each bite.
"Mmm, it's delicious."
"Really? That's great. I'm glad it was worth the effort. Since it's your favorite, I made plenty, so feel free to have more." Irina said.
'Just six months ago, I used to eat and do everything alone, and yeah I felt a bit isolated being a mob and all. But now, I have Irina as a roommate, before her, was Asia, and it's fun having someone.' Mitarai thought… as his brain continued non-stop.

In the bedroom, we have two futons laid out, separated by a curtain I bought. I set it up to give her privacy while changing and doing other things.
Though Irina doesn't mind being seen, she appreciates the thoughtfulness behind it.
