Chapter 6: Maia

After returning home, Alex was surprised to find out that the door was open. The only people who have the key to his house are his father, mother, and girlfriend. He was wondering which of them was here.

Although he didn't inform his father and mother since it was only confirmed this morning, he is sure that even if they didn't follow the press conference, they must have been informed by a friend congratulating them. So no matter what, they already know. As for his girlfriend, she is not even in England right now.

Among all the scenarios he imagined, he didn't expect that when he entered, there were not only his parents but also his girlfriend at the same time, which was quite a surprise to him.

"Hey, mom, dad," he said, then looked at his girlfriend with a surprised expression, "and Maia."

Maia had just learned from his parents that Alex was officially the head coach of Sunderland AFC. As a half Argentine, of course, she has football in her blood. Although she wanted to jump into his arms, with his parents around, Maia was a little shy.

His father was so excited that he didn't respond to Alex and directly asked him, "Alex, why didn't you tell us about this great news? You didn't know how surprised I was when I learned the news."

His mother also supported his father, but her attention was elsewhere, thinking that Maia had introduced herself as Alex's girlfriend. "Yeah, Alex, you should inform us of this kind of news. By the way, since when did you have a new girlfriend?"

Alex could only sigh. It's the gig of having nice parents; they are always worried about what you did and what you would do.

After living in the same house for eighteen years, from the rough to the good times, it's difficult for him to really be angry with them.

He knew that his parents didn't mean anything bad. His father is just proud of his son's achievement. He never tried to interfere with Alex's professional life like some parents did, and he neither suggested Alex leave nor stay at Sunderland.

As for his mother, she is worried. She has watched Alex grow up. Contrary to those young athletes who are always at the bar or changing girlfriends at lightning speed, he has only had two girlfriends in total. One now has 139 million followers on Instagram while the other has 28 million followers.

He was nicknamed 'celebrity maker' by some fans. What she worries about is that those past girlfriends of his chose their careers over love. She didn't want this to happen again, lest it make him autistic about love.

"Haha, dad, I was only nominated this morning. Even I only knew the board's decision after firing Jack yesterday."

"Mom, this is my girlfriend, Maia Reficco. We started dating two months ago, but she was filming a movie, and I was planning to introduce you to her when she came back. I didn't expect that she's already here."

Maia smiled and said, "The filming wrapped up yesterday, and I was planning to surprise you today. I came here very early but didn't expect you weren't here. Your parents came here later. They informed me about your new job. Congratulations."

Alex's mother, Alexandra, had a good impression of this Argentine girl, but she didn't show it on her face. Young women nowadays prefer careers over love, and from the conversation now, she knew that Maia is an actress.

She couldn't help but sigh, thinking about how she and Alex's father supported each other during the hard days. But now, either the husband abandons or cheats on his wife, or vice versa.

After some discussion and some advice from his father, they left in the evening, leaving some space for Alex and his girlfriend. Although his mother is worried, she trusts Alex very much because from childhood to now, he has been a genius and well-behaved kid.

After Alex's parents left, Maia was finally relaxed. Imagine coming to your new boyfriend's house, and suddenly, his parents come, especially when you are only 19 years old.

"So now, the series you have been filming since 2017 has officially finished filming?"

"Yeah, now I plan to take some time and, of course, concentrate a little bit on my career."

Alex nodded, showing his understanding. Maia's original goal was to become a musician; acting can only be a side job. Even in the series, she was playing the role of a music student.

Just like this, they slept together with Maia in his arms. They didn't do anything since Alex was a little considerate, knowing that she must be very fatigued after the filming plus taking the plane early that morning.

The next day after waking up, Alex saw that Maia wasn't there but didn't think much. He was excited, recalling what happened yesterday, and he remarked that his vision seemed a little clearer. He immediately called the system.
