Chapter 34

Kade stood atop a tall building, surveying the city below. The transformation was underway, infected citizens were diligently rebuilding the city, making it anew. The streets were no longer in ruins but instead filled with construction and progress.

From the shadows, a group of Japanese S-Rank hunters, now under Kade's control, emerged. Among them were Goto Ryuji and his top hunters, their expressions blank and their movements were quite robotic.

Kade observed them with a mix of satisfaction and curiosity. "Line up," he commanded and they followed.

The hunters complied without hesitation, forming a line before him. Kade's eyes gleamed with a sinister light as he extended his dark tendrils, selecting three of the strongest hunters. The tendrils wrapped around their bodies, lifting them off the ground.

"You will serve me well," The tendrils tightened, and the hunters' bodies convulsed as Kade consumed them.

As the last of the hunters was consumed, Kade felt a surge of power coursing through him. He had gained a new ability—the power to give consciousness to his subjects, allowing them to retain their emotions and intelligence while remaining under his control.

A sinister smile spread across his face. "This changes everything."

At the Korean Association's new base in Busan, the atmosphere was tense. This area had the least infected, making it a strategic location for their operations. Chairman Go and the other S-Rank hunters were gathered, discussing their next move.

There are still some few people from their temporary base close to Seoul, like Baek and Choi, but most of them went to Busan and set up the new headquarters, which is just the Association branch building, they just extended it.

They have a goal in mind to make this place their safe haven, protecting the whole city from the infected.

Chairman Go frowned as he read the communication. "Japan is demanding to speak with us about their missing hunters."

One of his assistant , standing nearby, looked up. "This isn't going to be good."

The video conference was set up quickly. On the screen appeared the stern faces of Japan's top officials, their expressions a mix of anger and concern. Goto Ryuji's absence was evident, and his absence spoke volumes.

Chairman Go took a deep breath and initiated the call. "This is Chairman Go of the Korean Hunters Association. How can we assist you?"

The Japanese representative, a senior official named Takashi Sato, didn't waste any time. "Chairman Go, we sent our best hunters to aid you in your crisis. Now, we can't reach them. What has happened to Goto Ryuji and his team?"

Chairman Go's expression grew somber. "Mr. Sato, it's with great regret that I must inform you of a tragic turn of events. Your hunters encountered Kade, the primary threat we are facing. They fought valiantly, but Kade overpowered them. He has… taken control of them."

There was a stunned silence on the Japanese side before Sato's voice, now laced with anger, broke it. "Taken control? Are you saying they are now his minions? This is unacceptable!"

Chairman Go remained calm, though the tension in his voice was unmistakable. "I understand your frustration, Mr. Sato. We are dealing with an unprecedented situation. Kade's abilities are beyond anything we've encountered before. We are doing everything we can to stop him."

Sato's face darkened. "This is a disaster, Chairman Go. You assured us that our hunters would make a difference, and now they're being used against us. This failure is on you. If we don't get our hunters back, there will be consequences."

Jinwoo, who had been listening intently, stepped forward. "Threatening us won't help. We're all in this together. Kade is a threat to everyone, not just Korea. We need to work together, not against each other."

Sato's gaze shifted to Jinwoo, his eyes narrowing. "And who are you?"

Jinwoo's expression was as stoic as ever. "Sung Jinwoo. I'm leading the effort to take Kade down."

Sato scoffed. "One man against a monster that beat our best team? This is beyond foolish."

Chairman Go interjected. "Sung Jinwoo is our strongest hunter. If anyone can stop Kade, it's him. But we need your support, not your threats. We're all fighting for survival here."

There was a long pause before Sato finally responded, his tone slightly softened but still firm. "We will monitor the situation closely. But make no mistake, Chairman Go, Japan will not tolerate further losses. If you fail to contain Kade, we will take matters into our own hands."

The call ended abruptly, leaving the Korean Association leaders in a strained silence.

Before the tension from the call with Japan had even settled, an assistant rushed into the room. "Chairman, we have a response from the American Hunter Association."

Chairman Go, Jinwoo, and the other S-Rank hunters turned their attention to the screen. The video call was quickly connected, revealing the serious faces of the American officials, their expressions reflecting a mix of concern and confusion.

Chairman Go initiated the call. "This is Chairman Go of the Korean Hunters Association. We urgently need information about a hunter named Kade. He claims to be American and possesses abilities beyond anything we've encountered."

The American representative, Director Amanda Reese, frowned as she listened. "Chairman Go, we have thoroughly checked our records. We have no information about a hunter named Kade. No one by that name or description exists in our database."

The Korean officials exchanged puzzled looks. Jinwoo stepped forward, his gaze intense. "Are you certain? Kade has shown extraordinary abilities and claims to be from your country."

Director Reese nodded. "We are certain. We've cross-referenced all known hunters and anyone with similar abilities. There is no match. This Kade is an enigma, even to us."

Chairman Go's expression grew more serious. "This is troubling news. Kade has already caused significant damage here. If he isn't in your records, then who is he? And where did he come from?"

The American officials exchanged glances, clearly bewildered. "We wish we had more answers, Chairman Go. We will continue to investigate on our end, but for now, we are as in the dark as you are."

Meanwhile, Kade looked down at his hands, feeling the raw power flowing through his veins. He issued a silent command to the remaining infected, ordering them to dive into dungeons and bring him all the essence stones they could find.

He himself went dungeon diving to get stronger, he did not want to risk anything especially after knowing there are beings called monarchs, who knows if there's anymore beings similar to them.
