"Good. I want to see you shine brighter than you already are. Concentrate on your training and do your best so that you will not have any regrets. Okay?"
"Mhm. I'll do my best oemm..." Doyun could not finish his statement because, just then, someone called their mother's name from behind the draped curtains.
Hyeri pushed the curtains aside and saw that it was one of the nurses that they had seen yesterday when their mom was admitted.
All of their eight eyes turned to her.
Doyun recognized her as the one who had called him with his mother's phone. She is called Jimin, just like his roommate.
"Nurse Jimin, is there a problem?" Hyewon asks.
"No. There's no problem, but there's something I'll like to ask your brother." She pointed to Doyun who excuses himself and steps out of the room with her.
"First of all let me ask, has anyone informed any of you about the hospital's anniversary program?" The nurse asked once they came outside.
"No? I'll need to ask my sisters, but no one's told me anything about that."
"I thought as much. I'm sure it's because of how chaotic it was yesterday.
Okay. So the thing is that the hospital will be celebrating its centenary in two weeks.
There are are a number of programs designed to reward our current patients.
If you're interested, go to the front desk for a brochure. You can look through and read more about it through our website and social media handles." She explains.
"Sure. Thanks." Doyun thanks her and waves at her as she leaves. He made his way to the front desk for more inquiries before taking a flyer and heading back to his mom's hospital room.
"What did you talk about? Is everything alright?" His mom asked him once he joined them again.
"Yes. She just said to not stress you up and to assist you more with certain chores because of your condition." Doyun lied. He didn't want to raise their hopes, lest this lead to another disappointment.
The three children waved at their mother and finally left the hospital.
Doyun made his sisters go home while he went back to his secret place that his family is not even aware of.
They assumed that he was spending his time at his best friend's place. It is unknown to them that Doyun hasn't even spoken to his friend since his dad passed away.
****************************************
"Hey man, what's up?" Bae Jimin and Doyun bump their shoulders and fists as their way of greeting each other.
"How long have you been waiting?" Doyun asks his roommate from school, who is now a friend to him.
But this place is his own private place.. He got it once he started seeing his cougars.
This is where he sleeps whenever he leaves the hotels very late in the night. And he knows his mom will complain if she finds out that he stays out until that late.
"Not that long. I was about to call when I saw you entering the building. I sent you a text earlier."
"Yeah man, sorry. I was a bit occupied by then." Doyun inserted his key, pushed the door open and went into his room with Bae following behind.
"I had even thought you might be with one of them for the night. You know...your mommies, I mean." Bae said as he followed him inside.
"If you knew there's a chance that I might not be here tonight, then why did you still come? Is something wrong?" Doyun asks as he hangs his bag on the wall.
Bae shook his head in the negative. "I just didn't want to go home yet."
"So what if I hadn't come here at all this evening?"
"Nevermind. You're here now."
Doyun shook his head. He still doesn't understand why his roommate likes to hang out at this tiny place when he has a better room at home.
Since they're on vacation right now, he cannot go back to the dorms.
Ding! Doyun received a notification. When he checked it, it was from one of his three sugar mamas.
It read, "Hey handsome! It's time for mama's lap. Meet me at our usual place at 9:00 p.m. tonight. See you soon."
Doyun nodded to himself and put his phone on the nightstand. "How long do you want to be here? I'll be going to see someone at 9:00 p.m.
"You're going to meet one of them, I guess?" Doyun didn't answer Bae's question.
Jimin just shook his head and got back to focusing on playing a soccer game on his phone. He was lying on the bed with a raised knee, like he owned the place.
Buzzt! Buzzt! Buzzt!
Jimin clears the incoming call that keeps interrupting his game.
Buzzt! Buzzt! Buzzt!
The same number calls again. Jimin clears it away once again.
He was in a one-hour 1:1 daily competition with another player online. He would've turned off his mobile network connection had it not been that he still had to stay connected to the Internet.
Buzzt! Buzzt! Buzzt!
"Oohhh!" Bae exclaimed when the third call came in. "What?" He angrily spoke into the phone after picking up the call.
"Where are you?" Wonshik asks from the other end of the line.
"Why? Why do you need to know where I am? Can you just say why you called? I'm busy on my phone, and you're disturbing me with your calls."
Doyun had already left the room to go and take his bath at the common bath house on his floor.
"I can tell that you're angry. Is it because of Youngmi? You know, she was the first to say she was coming over.
I couldn't call and cancel on her because you too wanted to come around, right?"
Wonshik waited, but Bae didn't say a word. After a short silence, he added.
"You know, I don't really get what's been going on between you and Youngmi. And none of you will tell me anything when I ask.
And now you're angry because I told you she'd be coming over. It's starting to get to me, you know?"
"I never said that I was angry. And there's nothing going on between your girlfriend and me. I have to go." Bae Jimin said and hung up on the call.
