　　"Cazz, no," I said, much more firmly. "They're equipped. They have tools. You can't just rush at them because they'll see you coming- and besides, I won't be able to keep up."

　　"Which is fine, because you won't be coming. This is a hunt, Jesse. You've just swept this entire area of threats. Now you're going to stay here while I take the power in there with the Gammas and-"

　　My entire body jolted and my back spasmed. "Cazz, no! We do this together, remember?!"

　　"Love, you got us this far- but you can't do this part. And there's no way you're taking our son into a maze of death and war. I am a wolf- my people are wolves. We will hunt and we will win."

　　"But if we get too far away from each other I can't share my power with you!"

　　"Which is good, because you'll need it out here to protect the wolves if any of our enemies catch wind of what I'm doing and somehow get past me to flee."
