~ JESSE ~
I stumbled out of that room in a blind panic.
For a moment there, I thought he'd given in. Surrendered. I'd had tears, it was so beautiful, so thrilling when he cupped his hand over my head and just held me. Those few seconds had touched a place within me his body could never reach. And I'd responded, unable to stop myself. I was hungry for him. Not just for his body, but for him. To be close. To be held. To be… together.
When he'd dived into the bond and held me so gently, I thought that was it. We were over whatever this barrier was between us.
Then, when I tried to talk to him, it was like he flipped a switch and the lights went out. He had shut down so completely for a second I thought the bond was severed.
And even after that, when there was only the barest hint- like seeing a shadow pass over the light coming through the crack under the door- I'd still had hope. Blessed, beautiful hope.
