章 74: ALL TIED UP
As the game resumed Makoto dribbled up the court and made a pass to Tetsuo who was guarded by Takahiro. We can't afford for him to score another three pointer, so we have to play it safe this time around said Takahiro to himself as he applied pressure. Out of nowhere Yukio sets a screen for Tetsuo who utilized it and dribbled the basketball to an open spot. He then shoots a three pointer that swishes. Should have known that they'd pull a stunt like that said Takahiro to himself.
On the next possession, Hayato came down and quickly shot a three pointer that rattled in. Yes, I made it he said with excitement. That shot was pure luck, you can't be taking risks like that what if it was a real game and that shot mattered? Asked Makoto. Well I didn't missed the shot and now we are still close in a scores so, it was the right decision said Hayato as he ran back on defense. Makoto dribbled the ball up court and signaled a screen from Yukio. After Utilizing the screen Yukio runs to the rim and both Liam and Hayato followed. Makoto then stopped and pulled up for a midrange shot that swishes.
Hayato came down once more and called for a one on one between Makoto. Although the two of them were equally matched in terms of height, Makoto is always ahead of him and he steals the ball. Crap, he stole it said Hayato to himself as he chases after Makoto who drived towards the rim. Glancing behind him Makoto noticed that Shino was also trailing them so he smile and swiftly passed the ball to Shino who took his two steps and scored a layup.
It's clear that Makoto's team has the greatest advantage but what was I supposed to do, we can't have Yukio and Liam on the same team said Nanaho to herself. Upon passing the ball to Liam in the post, he spins around and easily scored a layup on Yukio. After Makoto passes the ball to Yukio on offense, he establishes a triple threat position while he was being guard by Liam.
He fakes a shot that got Liam to react. He then drives to the baseline where Liam manage to maintain his control. Yukio then spun out of the way and attempted a layup thing he got free. However, Liam jumped into the air and swatted the ball unto the ground. After securing the loose ball Hayato quickly threw a long pass and Shouted "Noboru catch". After catching the ball Noboru scored a layup.
Makoto then brought down the ball and made a quick pass to Yukio who goes up for a layup however, Liam once again jumped into the air attempting to block him. Yukio then passed the ball to Tetsuo who scores a layup.
Come on Takahiro, keep an eye on him he's really swift said Hayato. Yeah, sorry about that, I'll get him next time said Takahiro.
After reaching Makoto's team half of the court, Hayato quickly passes the ball to Takahiro who passed the ball back and cut through the key. Hayato then fakes to the right to draw away Makoto's attention, he then passed the ball Takahiro who attempted a layup, meanwhile Tetsuo was on him preparing to block the shot.
Using his experience Takahiro used his body as a shield between the ball and Tetsuo, he then shoots a layup that swishes. You might be talented Tetsuo but there is still alot of room for growth and experience said Takahiro as he ran back on defense. I'm so glad that we made it on time, there's no way I'm going to miss a single practice said Harumi to her friends.
Yeah me neither I just love watching Yukio play basketball said one of her friend. Yeah you're right Shino is so adorable. Let's do our best to cheer them on during training okay said Harumi as all of her friends agreed excitedly. After receiving a pass from Makoto, Tetsuo dribbled the basketball and he was met by Takahiro who guarded him well. This kid really takes alot to guard and we are around the same height as well said Takahiro to himself.
Tetsuo then dribbled to the left causing Takahiro to cut him off. He then spins to right and locked his pivot foot infront of Takahiro, giving him no chances to block and then he took his two steps and shoots a layup that swishes. Wow, nice one Kawaguchi, brilliant play said a girl. Nice shot Kawaguchi keep it up , I'm rooting for you!! Shouted another. Tetsuo that was a nice shot, great work!! Shouted Harumi as she smiled.
I know those voices, it's those damn annoying fan girls again said Noboru to himself pissed. How many times do I have to tell you girls to stop coming here , you're distracting us from training, don't you have anything else better to do than gawking at our Captain, Tetsuo or Shino? Come on , get lost or something said Noboru as he shooed them with his hand.
Hey, how dare you talk to me like that and you don't own the gym so you can't tell me what to do said one of the girls. Yes she's right we're not here to watch an ugly dwarf play , we're here to watch them so just shut and avoid us said a girl.
Who the hell are you calling an ugly dwarf I'm taller than all of you. Now please leave before I make you said Noboru angrily. Uh, Noboru you do realize that we are still in a game right? Asked Hayato awkwardly. I knew he was going to be a pain, he's ruining the damn possession flow said Makoto to himself annoyed. But not from where I'm standing though , you look like a tiny spec to the rest of the team. Says the girl with freckles on her face and trying to cover them up with those goofy glasses said Noboru.
Are you saying that I look weird? Asked the girl as she cried. That was uncalled for you made her cry said her friend. If you got a problem with me then just leave said Noboru however Nanaho walked unto the court and gave him a slap on the head. Ouch, that hurt man, what was that for Nanaho ? Asked Noboru.
You're in the middle of an important game and you make outsiders distract you, now I'm really upset you're going to have to stay after training and clean up everything all by yourself. But that's unfair Nanaho, they started it and how can I do everything alone. Noboru , come on look alive said Hayato as he passed the ball to Noboru who quickly passed it to Liam.
Liam then easily scored another layup. On the next possession Yukio scored a two pointer. Immediately after Hayato shoots a three pointer that swishes. Makoto who was crafty easily crossed Hayato and got to the rim where Liam was waiting, he then pulled up for a paint shot that swishes. Liam then drives to the rim and easily dunks the ball.
Makoto then passes to Shino, who in transition beats team Hayato to the rim and scored a layup. Immediately after Noboru got the ball on a fast break and scored a layup.
Makoto then seize the opportunity to utilize Tetsuo on the wing and passed him the ball. Utilizing his swiftness Tetsuo corssed Takahiro who managed to play excellent defense however everyone was stunned when Tetsuo turned around and shoots a floater that swishes.
Come on Hayato only a couple of seconds left, you need score said Nanaho. No need to worry Nanaho,there's no way I'll let them take the first quarter said Hayato to himself as he calmly dribbled the ball up court. Makoto then stepped to guard him. As the clock counted down Hayato called for a screen from Liam. After receiving the screen Hayato dribbled to his spot and shoot a two pointer that swishes at the sound of the whistle. Hell yeah, we are back in business said Hayato as he smirked. This game is intense, they are really fighting out there . Thirty to thirty the game is all tied up said Nanaho impressed.
