章 35: Akainu's Wrath

The bloodied bag fell to the ground next to Shapu, who lay unconscious after King's terrifying revelation. As the bag opened, its contents spilled out for all present to see:

Emerging from it was the head of Vice Admiral Tokikakec, but with a disturbing peculiarity: it lacked eyes, leaving only two bloody sockets.

A chill ran through the base. The Marines couldn't believe what they were seeing. Their eyes widened in horror, and a deathly silence took over the place. The smell of fresh blood permeated the air, intensifying the feeling of terror and desolation.

Unconsciously, the Marines began to retreat, crawling on the ground, seeking refuge in any corner of the base. The image of Vice Admiral Tokikake's head, one of the most respected men in Marine Headquarters, mutilated and bloodied, shattered their spirit and filled them with an indescribable panic.

Shapu, slowly recovering from the initial shock, roared with a mix of pain, anger, and despair. "The Den Den Mushi!" he ordered in a broken voice. "Bring it to me now!"

A trembling and terrified Marine apprentice quickly approached with the communication device. Shapu took it with shaking hands and prepared to inform Headquarters of the tragedy that had just occurred.

New World, New Marineford.

Fleet Admiral's Office

At the pinnacle of Marine power, in the Fleet Admiral's office, Akainu, Kizaru, and Tensei were gathered. The gravity of the moment was reflected in their serious faces and the solemn tone of their words.

Tensei, with a document in hand, outlined the current situation: "The situation at sea has become extremely complex. Sabo, the Emperor of Flames, dealt a masterstroke by assassinating Nefertari Cobra, the only representative of the Reverie who descended from the 20 founding kings of the World Government. This action has skyrocketed Sabo's fame, making him a hero in the eyes of many."

Kizaru, without lifting his gaze from his nails, interjected with his characteristic sarcasm: "I don't understand the World Government's strategy. Publishing the news of Cobra's assassination only fuels the Revolutionary Army's reputation."

Tensei, shrugging, added: "It's a mystery. However, it's undeniable that Sabo's influence, as the younger brother of Straw Hat Luffy, one of the new Four Emperors, has grown exponentially."

Akainu, with his usual cold and authoritative tone, extinguished the cigar he was smoking and declared: "Emotions have no place in this game. The higher the Revolutionary Army flies, the harder their fall will be. Any country that dares to rebel will be annihilated without mercy."

Tensei, nodding, seemed to agree with Akainu's stance.

Kizaru, after a moment of reflection, changed the subject: "The attempted assassination of Saint Charlos will be investigated by those individuals...", he said with an ironic smile. "What a pleasure not having to get involved."

The last few weeks had been exhausting for him, with the multiple crises that erupted during the Reverie. He preferred to stay on the sidelines and let Fujitora handle the issues with the World Government in Mary Geoise.

Akainu, regaining control of the conversation, set the priorities: "For now, our focus must be on Wano, the Straw Hat Pirates, Cross Guild, the Red-Haired Pirates, the Blackbeard Pirates, and the Revolutionary Army."

Cross Guild, in particular, had sparked his fury by daring to put bounties on Marine heads. Slamming the table forcefully, he emphasized his determination to eliminate this organization.

"Purupurupuru....."

However, tension filled the room again when the Den Den Mushi on Akainu's desk began to ring.

Akainu, frowning, picked up the receiver and responded in a grave voice: "What's happening?"

The trembling voice of Captain Shapu broke into Akainu's office through the Den Den Mushi: "Fleet Admiral Akainu... I... This is Captain Shapu from the 80th Marine Base in West Blue!"

Akainu, surprised by an unexpected call from a base captain, frowned. According to protocol, shouldn't a Vice Admiral be the one contacting him?

"Fleet Admiral... a significant event has occurred in West Blue," Shapu reported in a halting tone, still gripped by fear.

"What significant event?" Akainu asked, suppressing the anger beginning to rise within him.

"Admiral... Vice Admiral Tokikake is dead..." Shapu revealed, struggling to breathe before uttering the terrible words.

Akainu, stunned by the news, couldn't believe what he was hearing. "What?" he exclaimed incredulously, nearly losing control. "What did you say?"

"They killed the Vice Admiral, and the killer was King," Shapu confirmed with a hoarse voice, laden with sorrow. "King also left a message for Headquarters: he said a real battle will begin soon..."

Akainu's fury erupted like a volcano. "Damn it! Does he dare to threaten me?" he roared coldly. "How can a loser say such nonsense? You must be joking, right?"

"He really killed him," Shapu confirmed seriously. "Now... what remains of the Vice Admiral is still at our base. King brought it with him."

Akainu closed his eyes tightly, clenching his left fist so hard that drops of magma began to drip from it.
