Logan took a cold shower and changed his clothes. The past week had been uneventful.
The arrival of the casino machines was delayed by a few days, which had dampened everyone's spirits. While Sam dealt with the transport issues, Logan worked at the bar. They continued running gambling operations at night.
Charles had taught Logan the workings of the bar.
During this time, Logan had not contacted Alexander. Learning things indirectly from Alexander was causing trust issues.
Logan was heading to the bar. He got a bit wet due to the rain. When he reached the bar, it was unusually quiet.
The last time it was this quiet, they had been ambushed in that rundown house. Logan took his gun out, ready to use it.
He walked slowly toward the bar's door. When he reached the door, he noticed it was ajar.
He took his gun out. Carefully, he opened the door. What he saw inside made him frown.
There was blood everywhere. Charles and a few bartenders were lying on the floor, covered in blood.
Logan stood frozen for a moment, stunned by the sight. His heart was pounding as his eyes scanned every corner of the room. He took a deep breath and stepped inside, moving cautiously. This could be a trap.
After a while, Logan reached Charles's side. He leaned down to check if Charles was still breathing. He noticed that Charles was breathing weakly and irregularly. Logan quickly took out his phone to call emergency services, but there was no signal.
Logan assessed the situation. Leaving Charles here with his blood loss would be as good as abandoning him to die. Logan, while trying to lift Charles under his arms, kept his eyes on his surroundings. He needed to check if there was anyone else around.
Just then, he heard a noise from the back door of the bar. His eyes quickly turned in that direction, instantly alert. This could mean the attackers were still here. Logan had to move Charles to a safer place. He dragged him to one of the back rooms of the bar, locked the door, and barricaded it with a few heavy items.
Logan silently checked his gun again. He ensured it was loaded and ready. Then, he moved towards the back door of the bar. He tried to regulate his breathing as he approached the door. Peeking through the crack of the door, he couldn't see anything. Slowly, he opened the door and stepped outside.
In the narrow alley behind the bar, there was no one, but the sound of raindrops and distant sirens was enough to make Logan uneasy. He circled around the bar, finding no one before re-entering. He returned to Charles and started talking to him to keep him conscious.
"Hold on, Charles. We need to call an ambulance, but the lines are down. I won't leave you here, okay?"
Charles mumbled weakly. Logan felt a bit of relief knowing he was still alive, but there was still much to do. Logan quickly searched for first aid supplies. He found some cloth pieces and alcohol, using them to clean and bandage Charles's wounds.
Just then, the sound of footsteps from the front of the bar put Logan on high alert again. He grabbed his gun and took cover by the door, ready to react. The person entering was Sam. Logan relaxed momentarily, but the expression on Sam's face showed that this wasn't over yet.
"Logan, what's happening here?"
"I don't know, Carter. I just got here too."
Logan, with Sam's help, began planning to move Charles to a safer place. "We need to get Charles out of here, to your car immediately," Logan said firmly.
Sam nodded. "Alright, Logan. My car is in the back alley. Let's move quickly."
The two of them carefully lifted Charles and moved toward the back door of the bar. The rain was still pouring heavily, but it helped cover their tracks. When they reached Sam's car, they laid Charles in the back seat and sped off towards the hospital. Sam drove, heading quickly towards their destination.
On the way, Logan kept talking to Charles to keep him conscious. "Hold on, Charles. We're getting close to the hospital. We're going to save you."
When they arrived at the hospital, Logan and Sam carried Charles into the emergency room. They quickly explained the situation to the doctors, who took Charles into surgery.
In the waiting room, Logan and Sam exchanged looks, taking deep breaths. Sam looked troubled. Logan tried to comfort him by placing a hand on his shoulder. "We did what we could. Now we need to let the doctors do their job."
Sam thought about Logan's words and then nodded quietly. "You're right. The doctors need to do their job, and we need to do ours. We need to find out who did this. Anyone who harms my family or my friends will pay with their own blood."
"Let's go before the police get here," Logan said, heading towards the exit.
Sam walked beside Logan.
They got into the car. Sam drove them back to the bar.
When they arrived at the bar, there were several cars around. Sam had left his men to investigate.
As Sam and Logan got out of the car, Martin approached quickly.
"Martin, did you find out who did this?" Sam asked, looking angrily at the bar.
"We couldn't find anything, boss. The camera footage is missing. There are no traces around." Martin seemed a bit intimidated by Sam's anger.
"You will find them. Find out who did this," Sam said, entering the bar without waiting for Martin to respond.
The bar had been cleaned up inside, but blood stains were still visible on the floor. Logan continued to look around carefully.
As Logan moved around, he walked carefully among the blood stains and broken items on the floor. He examined every corner and every detail meticulously. This attack might have left clues that could reveal the attackers' identities. Sam, furious, wandered around the bar while Logan kept his composure, observing every move.
Sam kicked a chair in frustration, expressing his anger. "These bastards challenged us, Logan. We need to find out who they are and give them what they deserve."
Logan noticed something on the floor that caught his attention. There was a mark that looked like it had been drawn in blood. Upon closer inspection, he realized it was a symbol. "Sam, look at this."
Sam came over to Logan and looked at the symbol. His eyes narrowed, and for a moment, a look of recognition crossed his face. "This is the symbol of the Silver Serpents gang. This is their style."
Sam stood up decisively. "Then it's time to take action. This gang operates in the area. We need to find their hideouts. I have some contacts; we can get more information from them."
Logan, seeing Sam's determination, approached him to offer support. "Alright, Sam. Let's move quickly. We'll do whatever it takes to stop this gang and get justice for Charles."
Sam turned to Martin and gave his instructions. "Martin, gather the whole team and start collecting information about the Silver Serpents gang. We need to find their hideouts and their leader. Get this done immediately."
Martin nodded and quickly left. Sam and Logan began waiting outside the bar. A few minutes later, one of Sam's contacts, Tony, arrived in his car. Tony was a reliable source for gathering information in the underground world of the area.
As Tony got out of his car, he greeted Sam. "Sam, Logan. It's not good to see you under these circumstances. What's going on?"
Sam briefly explained the situation and then showed Tony the symbol. "The Silver Serpents gang is behind this. We need to find their hideouts and their leader."
Tony looked at the symbol and then nodded. "Understood. Tracking this gang won't be easy, but I can reach out to some of my sources. Give me some time, and I'll bring you the necessary information."
Sam put a hand on Tony's shoulder, thanking him. "Move quickly, Tony. Time is running out."
Tony got back into his car and sped off. Logan and Sam, standing in front of the bar, felt a growing sense of anger and determination. They were determined to find the gang behind this attack and ensure justice. Tracking down the Silver Serpents gang wouldn't be easy, but Logan and Sam were ready to do whatever it took to protect their friends and business.
In less than an hour, Tony returned to the bar. As he got out of his car, his face was serious. "Sam, Logan. I found the information. The Silver Serpents gang is using an old warehouse as their base. Their leader is known as Jason 'The Snake.' He's very dangerous and ruthless."
Sam was ready to act on the information Tony had brought. "Logan, tonight we'll raid that place. We'll make them pay for messing with us. Today everyone should learn that they can't mess with us."
Logan shared Sam's resolve and nodded. "Let's finish this."
