章 2: Chapter 2 (rewrite)

Pov R.O.B

"Now that he's gone, you can show yourself, my friend," I said.

"Well, you didn't look too happy to see me, Adam," my friend replied.

"It's just that I don't have much time to talk to him," I explained, trying to shake off my low mood.

"It's okay, Adam. You did what you could, and if he fulfills his destiny, you can meet him again," my friend said positively, trying to lift my spirits.

He was the only one who had helped me recover from the loss after my death and move on with my new duties as R.O.B. "You're right, my friend. I didn't have to think about it and just wait for him, which I'm now an expert at. It will be great to see his face when he finds out about me, haha," I said, dreaming about the interaction.

"Shishishishi, now that's the spirit! You're free, so let's go explore the places we couldn't before," my friend said, laughing and jumping enthusiastically.

I couldn't believe he had lived for so many years and still behaved like a child. But he had helped me many times, so it was only right to follow him. "Okay, let's go to that place and also find the Meat World, haha," I said, laughing and matching my friend's energy.

Pov  Victor

Here's a rewritten version of the passage with more context and clarity:

After an eternity of darkness, I finally felt a strange sensation, like being pulled through a vortex. It was disorienting, like drowning in a sea of uncertainty. Suddenly, a flash of light illuminated my surroundings, and I opened my eyes to find myself lying in a wicker basket in front of a massive gate. The moon cast its silvery glow over the scene, casting long shadows across the ground.

As I struggled to sit up, I realized I was shivering. I looked down and saw that I was swaddled in a thin fabric, barely enough to keep me warm. A piece of paper lay beside me, perhaps a note from whoever had left me here. I was still trying to process my surroundings when the giant gates creaked open.

A young woman, likely in her late 20s, peered down at me with a mixture of surprise and concern. "Who could have left this little baby here?" she wondered aloud, her voice gentle and soothing.

After setting the basket down, the young woman scooped me up, pinching my cheeks and cooing, "Oh, you look so adorable! Who could leave a child like you?" I tried to protest, thinking, "Hey, I'm a handsome man, not cute!" But all that came out were baby babblings: "Bababoooahhh!"

The woman chuckled and hugged me tightly, saying, "Haha, look who's so happy!" After cuddling me for a moment, she pulled back and examined the papers in the basket. As she read the contents, her eyes lit up. "Victon Von," she said, "So that's your name, little pie."

I thought to myself, "Wait, she's giving me a nickname already? And what's with 'Victon Von'? That's not my full name...and didn't I have a different last name? Doom, wasn't it?" But I couldn't express my thoughts, still limited to baby talk.

As Margaret carried me into the house, she swayed me gently from side to side, cooing, "Look, kids! What we have here is a brand new little baby, and he's absolutely adorable!"

A little girl with curly brown hair and bright green eyes exclaimed, "Oh, how tiny he is!"

Her brother, Mike, a boy with a messy blond mop, rolled his eyes and said, "Well, he's a baby, Alex, so of course he's small. You don't have to react like that."

A young girl with long, straight black hair and a kind smile, Sophia, chimed in from the back of the room, "Yes, Alex, you were also tiny like him once."

Alex's face lit up, and she said, "So, are you going to take him in, Miss Margaret?" Mike asked, looking at me with a curious expression.

Margaret hesitated, "Well, I don't know what to do with him. Someone just left him in a basket on our doorstep with only his name, Victon Von."

Alex, still excited, said, "We should take him in, Miss Margaret! That way, I won't be the youngest one anymore!"

Mike countered, "We need to find out if someone left him intentionally or unintentionally."

Alex pouted, "Mike, don't say mean words!"

Margaret intervened, "Okay, you both, no arguing. Sophia, can you please take care of both of them for now, while I think about what to do with our little Victon Von?" She smiled at Sophia and then gazed at me, her eyes filled with a mix of concern and kindness.

Time skip

Victor was engrossed in his biology book, surrounded by other college-level texts on mathematics, physics, and more. He was reading about T cells and their development when Margaret's voice interrupted him. "Victor, breakfast is ready! Bring Alex along, and let's eat!" she called from the kitchen.

Victor closed his book, sighing, "I'll finish this later." He got up from his study chair and headed to Alex's room, knocking on the door.

A cheerful young girl answered, "Oh, my Victor, what do you want this time, little brother?" She emphasized the word "little" with a playful tone.

Victor replied, "Margaret's calling for breakfast, so let's go, older sister." He stressed the word "older" with a grin.

Alex pouted, "So now you're making fun of me, Victor?"

She accused, "You're learning this from Mike, and I won't give you more money for your experiments!"

Victor thought it wise not to tease her further, risking his progress. Instead, he said, "No, my lovely sister, I was just lightening the mood."

Alex laughed, "Haha, that's the Victor I know - always good with his words!" She pulled him towards the kitchen, and they headed to breakfast together.

In the kitchen, Margaret and Sophia had just finished setting the table with a delicious breakfast spread, while Mike was putting out the tableware.

Alex cheerfully greeted everyone, "Good morning, Miss Margaret, Sophia, and Mike! How are you all doing?"

I followed with a simple "Good morning" as we sat down.

Margaret beamed, "Good morning, my little princess and little pie! I'm fine, and I made your favorite blueberry pancakes with maple syrup." I ignored my nickname, having grown used to it over the past seven years, and began serving myself.

As we ate, Mike teased, "So, what's the book you read, doof?"

I irritably replied, "It's about T cells in the human body, and can you please stop calling me that?"

Mike reminded me of my past experiment gone wrong, which had destroyed his favorite skateboard. I defended myself, explaining the ratio mistake and the skateboard's age.

Margaret intervened, changing the subject, "Today's your first day of school, little pie. Are you prepared for this new step?"

I rolled my eyes, thinking, "What can I possibly learn there? I've already read all the books Sophia and Mike have, and now I'm on college-level texts."

Margaret firmly replied, "You need to go, make friends, and enjoy life like other children." I reluctantly agreed, thinking, "I can't say no to Margaret."

I requested, "Fine, but in return, can I get the new 'The Pragmatic Programmer' book?"

After breakfast, Margaret dropped us off at school. The classes were a breeze, and I effortlessly aced every test, topping my class with ease.

"Victor, don't forget to call me every night, and make sure to eat well," Margaret said, holding me tightly in a warm embrace. "I'll be fine, Margaret. I'm only going to State University for a short time, and I'll return before you know it," I replied, hugging her back just as tightly.

Over the past 16 years, I had created countless memories with my new family, and I felt like the happiest man alive. I would deeply miss Alex, Sophia, and Mike, who had become like real siblings to me, filling a void I never knew existed. They had taught me to cherish the present and live life to the fullest with loved ones.

"Goodbye, Alex, Sophia, and Mike. Take care of yourselves and Margaret. I'll call you all when I can," I said, my voice cracking with emotion.

"Goodbye, Mom," I added, avoiding eye contact with Margaret, as I had never called her that before, fearing she might leave me too. But she had shown me unwavering love and support over the years, and she deserved it.

"Oh, my son," she whispered, tears streaming down her face as we hugged. I shed tears too, and soon, my siblings joined in, turning our goodbye into a group hug.

"Let's meet again soon. Goodbye, everyone," I said, breaking away from the embrace and wiping away my tears.

With a heavy heart, I took the steps to board the train to New York, ready to start my new journey.

Author's Note: And that's a wrap for today's chapter! I apologize if it fell short in some areas, but I aimed to make it as engaging as possible.

Don't worry,  I'll delve into marvel universe in the next chapter. For now, I wanted to explore our MC's early life, which will differ from the original Dr. Doom's backstory, as this is my unique take on the character.

Please keep in mind that this fanfic will have some variations compared to the movies and comic books.

I hope you enjoyed reading this chapter, and I look forward to sharing more of the story with you!
