"I'm here! Where is he?" Furui rushed inside the hospital. He was still wearing his construction uniform. "Is he okay?"
"He's fine," Akane said, easing Furui's worries.
"So what happened?" Furui sat at the edge of the hospital bed. When he heard his wife calling him about their son, Furui immediately left his work and rushed to the hospital.
Akane began explaining to her husband what had occurred. "That's what happened. I'm sorry."
"No need to be sorry Honey. All that matters is that both of you are safe." Furui caressed Akane's cheeks. He then rose a proud smile. "But really though? He did that?" He asked, his eyes gleaming with excitement.
Just like Akane, Furui also dreamed of becoming a hero. But alas he wasn't that gifted.
"Yes, even I was surprised," Akane said and added. "Strong gust of wind formed on his hands, and shot like a shockwave."
"Awesome! Kazuki awakened his quirk, not only that but a powerful quirk!" Furui was excited. His once dreams of becoming a hero ignited, but it wasn't for him, but for his son.
"Oh, you both are here." The doctor walks inside and takes out a chair. "I took the results, well your son is perfectly fine, he's just exhausted from using his quirk."
Furui and Akane breathed a sigh of relief.
"But. There's bad news." The doctor adjusted his glasses. "Your son has a powerful quirk, the problem is, his body can't take it."
Furui furrowed his brows. "What do you mean doctor?"
"Your son has your quirk Mrs. Uchiku, but much more powerful and enhanced. He can create powerful shockwaves, but, it takes a toll on his body." The doctor said with a grim expression.
"If he continues to use his quirk every time then the shockwaves would backfire on him. Well resulting to his body." The doctor moved his hands imitating a bomb.
"What?." Furui stood up. "But Doctor, isn't there any other way? Like what if my wife and I train his body to fully utilize his quirk?"
"I don't think that'll work. Your son absorbs the surrounding air to create the shockwave. It doesn't come from his body imagine a balloon that continues sucking in air. The more it gathers, the more it bloats. And eventually pops, even if you try to train his body to handle the aftereffects. It wouldn't help much." The doctor said.
"But I've concluded, he can use his quirk. But once a day only. If he does it a second time or a third, well you know what'll happen." The doctor said and stood up. "Anyways that'll be all." He left the ward.
"What kind of hero can only use his quirks once a day?" Furui said to Akane. He was already making plans for his son's future yet it crumbled in an instant.
"Honey, we don't even know if Kazuki wants to be a hero," Akane said.
"But honey, although I wasn't there and I didn't see it, judging from what you said our son is blessed with a powerful quirk! It's only right for him to use that power for good!" Furui said.
Some are not very blessed. Some wanted to become a hero but their quirks just didn't match the criteria. It was because their quirks were weak.
"Please don't push your unfulfilled dreams to our son." Akane sighed, she glared at Furui while caressing Kazuki's cheeks. "Let's ask him when he's awake."
Furui nodded in response.
After some time, Kazuki woke up.
A smile rose on Kazuki's face. He glanced at his system interface. He could still remember it vividly. When he saw his quirk, Kazuki wanted to jump as high as he could.
[Name: Kazuki Uchiku]
[Quirk: Crush]
[Description: Crush: Gildarts' signature Magic. Crush is an extremely powerful Caster Magic that smashes everything the user comes into contact with into pieces. Even the most powerful spells are rendered useless when faced with this destructive and advanced Magic, which is difficult to control even for an extremely powerful individual like Gildarts himself.]
"Kekeke." Kazuki had an excited smile on his face. 'Crush, a powerful magic from Fairy Tail, and now it's my quirk!'
It was an overpowered magic. For Kazuki who watched the series, he was already laughing his heart out chanting that it was a gift for his terrible past life.
"Kazuki?" Akane entered the hospital ward, she rushed to her son, hugging him in her embrace. "Kazuki!"
"Mom! You're suffocating me!" Kazuki shouted.
"Sorry sweetie, I was so worried." Akane continued hugging her son. "Everything is fine now, no one's going to hurt you," Akane recalled her son's lifeless eyes while being taken, hostage. She knew that her son needed her the most, especially after such a traumatic event.
"I'm fine now Mom," Kazuki said trying to ease his mother. Kazuki darted his eyes at the corner, his father was standing there. "Dad!"
"Hey, bud." Furui sat at the edge of the bed. "How are you feeling?" He asked worriedly.
"I'm feeling great, why?" Kazuki asked. He glanced at his mother and father's grim expressions. "Is something wrong?"
Furui explained to his son what the doctor had said to them. After explaining he asked. "Son, do you want to become a hero?"
Kazuki blinked a few times. He was still processing what his father had said. 'I can only use my quirk, once a day? What a load of crap?'
Hearing no answer, Furui sighed and asked again. "Kazuki? Do you want to become a hero?"
Kazuki glanced at his father. "Yes, I want to become a hero." He said. 'Well I was going to become a hero anyways, but my quirk. Come to think of it, even Gildart himself had trouble controlling his power. What should I do?'
Furui smiled hearing Kazuki's answer. "That's the spirit, your father will support you in any way!" Furui didn't let his thoughts delve into what the doctor had said. 'Although I haven't seen it, I'm sure his quirk is powerful. I bet he wouldn't even need to use his quirk the second time!'
Akane forced a smile on her face seeing Kazuki's determined expression.
After one last checkup and registering his quirk. The Uchiku family took a taxi and went home to their apartment.
"So you just flicked your hand and a shockwave blasted the villain?" Furui asked Kazuki enthusiastically.
"Yep! I didn't even sweat, I just like flicked my hand and a powerful shockwave came out. But I don't know if I defeated the villain, I lost consciousness. I think the hero Best Jeanist took care of him." Kazuki said.
"Yeah, but still you showcased an amazing ability! I'm sure that hero was impressed." Furui said.
Kazuki chuckled in response. The two of them continued talking about his quirk. While Akane just stayed silent as she cooked lunch.
Akane put down the sandwich on the coffee table. "Kazuki, I know your Dad has always talked about heroes on and off. Sweetie, if you choose to become a hero for your father's unreached dreams, then don't okay?"
"What?" Furui almost choked on the sandwich.
"Mom, Dad, I choose to become a hero for myself. I won't do it to satisfy Dad's dreams, instead, it's my choice." Kazuki said. "I want to become a hero to save others, I don't want them to experience what happened to you Mom, and what happened to me."
Hearing her son's answer. Akane sat beside him and hugged him. She didn't say anything and stayed silent.
"Son, being a hero isn't easy. Sometimes you face strong villains, just like the one that Allmight faced. Evil and Vile, are you sure though? You can only use your quirk once a day." Furui said, he did have hopes for his son, but he saw how heroes would painstakingly sacrifice their lives for the people.
Many villains are sly, and a huge gap such as a once-a-day use quirk is a huge disadvantage. Although he wished for Kazuki to become a hero, he was also worried for his son's safety.
"Yeah, but I'll make the most of it." Kazuki grinned, he glanced at his system's interface. "I'm sure I'll make the most of it."
Hmm everything's good? I think?
