She shook me awake, and as soon as I opened my eyes, I heard his voice—my grandpa's.

I shot upright, the words tumbling from my mouth. "Shit, he's going to kill me."

I hadn't made any move to find Ciara yet, plus the media mess… Fuck!

Odessa's eyes widened, watching my every move, probably shocked by how panicked I was. I scrambled out of bed, trying to buckle my pants only to realize I was wearing shorts. Odessa stifled a laugh, but I barely noticed. My grandpa was going to skin me alive today.

"Relax or he'll hear you," she whispered, her voice low.

"Go to the door. I mean, go ahead first and I'll follow behind," I ordered, still frazzled.

"What? No. He'll see us both if I do that," she protested, her face scrunching up in disbelief.
