Ciara's POV

Not expecting him to pick up so quickly, my words caught in my throat. Somehow, I managed to utter the words I wasn't supposed to say, "I miss you, Jared. Do you miss me?"

He let out a sardonic laugh that pierced my heart. "What exactly are you on, Ciara? Did you drink something? Where even are you?"

"I really mean it, I miss you. Why don't you believe me?" I asked.

He continued to laugh, the sound blasting my ears.

"Do you miss me? Did you ever love me, Jared?"

"Stop it! What is wrong with you and all these sudden questions?" he snapped, his voice filled with hurt and anger. "Ciara, you and I know that I loved and cherished you, but you messed it all up. You cheated on me while we were waiting for us, and not only that, you got pregnant! Now don't call my number anymore."

I felt like he was about to hang up on me and I needed to get straight to why I called him. "Wait. I need your help."
