章 6: seek Eugene and gigi

Quickly, Virtya was ushered into the palace and while he was inside, the knights retracted their shields and disappeared therefore leaving Virtya and Tanya alone in the hall way.

The hallway was slightly long and several paintings were placed on its walls. The walls were tall of about 4 metres in height which made the roof of the hallway to be slightly far away. Actually, most of the nobles' buildings were made to have tall walls just to show their majestic taste and how wealthy and powerful they were.

Virtya didn't say anything as Tanya led him to the dining room. One should know that Virtya had not eaten anything since he began his journey to Polkok.

It was past 4pm when Virtya arrived at the dinning table, he was exhausted and hungry because he had been running the whole day without resting or having to eat food thus, he needed some rest after eating.

The king's dining table was long in that forty five people could sit comfortably around it. However, there were only a few individuals seated around this table.

"Long live your highness!" All the people at the dining table including the palace maids who were carrying the trays of food lowered their heads and uttered the praise.

Virtya didn't stop them to praise him as he enjoyed every moment of it. Tanya pulled out the king's seat and Virtya went and sat on it. This royal chair had been allocated especially for him.

While taking a peek around him, Virtya could recognize everyone that was at the table,

There was his little sister Galina who was playing with her hair, Alexandre Daviau who was the minister of trade and industrialization and then there was of course Tanya who sat beside him and lastly, Virtya saw the girl who was betrothed to him when he was still a toddler, she was Cataline Brisbois.

Catalina was a tall girl that was the same height with Virtya. Though she haven't matured properly according to Virtya, her feminity was still conspicuous. However, she was only 14years old.

Virtya exchange a glance with Catalina before he quickly looked away.

From the memories of his predecessor, Virtya had to marry Catalina who was a daughter of the king of Magyo kingdom because Catalina was no only betrothed to him but Virtya also had to use this little relationship so that he could keep away the other kingdoms which might want to uproot his leadership while his kingdom was in a dire state, thus, Catalina was a needed tool that ensured the continuity of Virtya's reign.

Catalina knew how important she was to Virtya and that was why she was always cocky as if she was more powerful than the king himself nonetheless, even if Virtya had married Catalina, the marriage had not been officiated so that Catalina could be the queen of Azuhai, no! Virtya kept postponing this ceremony as if he was expecting something or there was something that was holding him from doing the ceremony.

"My little sister, stop playing with your hair and eat your food. You need to grow fat." Virtya taunted his sister as he picked up a yam and bit it before he munched on it and swallowed.

One should know that the king had many testers who verified if the food was poisoned or not before the king could eat that food, thus, there was no possible window to poison the king while using his prepared food unless the poison was a silent one just like the one that killed the previous Virtya.

Virtya drunk the soup from his plate and nodded in satisfaction and then he stared at Alexandre who was munching on his food without looking up as if he had not eaten for days. He then stared at Tanya and smiled, she was silent and she ate her food without panic as if she was not afraid of anything.

Virtya then turned to the one of the palace guard who was standing at the corner while holding a sword in his hand. The sharp pointed part of the sword was touching the ground but this knight was vigilant just like the other four in the room, they were not careless as they glanced side by side, not wanting anything to escape their eyes.

"Yony! Come here!" Virtya called the palace guard. Yony was the name that his sister gave it to the palace guards and this name had strangely been acceptable. Currently, everyone in the palace would call the palace guards yony, thus, this time round, Virtya decided to use this very name.

"At your disposal, your majesty." The knight who was called by Virtya strode towards him and bowed his head without staring at Virtya in the eye.

Galina curled up her lips when she heard Virtya calling one of the palace guard a yony but she didn't say anything. She yawned before she reclined on her chair and closed her eyes, she looked tired as if she had come from a manual workplace.

"I want to see Gigi Dafuor and Eugene Perrin right now!" Virtya Markov gave the order to the palace guard in a low voice that all could hear.

"Your majesty, I don't think Eugene is at his workplace at this hour but if you need him urgently, I could order some knights to go and search in every single brothel and tavern out there and see if they might find that fool." Alexandre burped before he said. He wiped the corners of his mouth with a piece of linen and glanced at both Virtya and the palace guard.

"Why is he in a brothel at this time? I need him here immediately. This work can't wait forever." Virtya banged his fist on the table. He was agitated. He wanted to start his mission of changing the face of this kingdom by the next day but stupid stuffs just kept blocking him.

'Damn!' Virtya calmed down because being irritated would not help him.

"Just look for a way to reach unto Eugene Perrin and Gigi Dafour quickly. I don't want to waste time. Time is of the essence here." Virtya urged the palace guard.

"At your service, your majesty." The palace guard bowed one last time before he disappeared.

"That yony alone will not find that dimwit. Let me go and order some more knights who could do the job quickly." Alexandre didn't wait for Virtya to give him a go ahead as he stood up and walked out of the dining room. He was totally serious with what he had said.

From his predecessor's memories, Virtya knew that Alexandre Daviau was a crazy fella but he was also someone that he could trust and depend on to do the dirty work and other useless matters that were outside Alexandre's job circle.
