章 127: Chapter 127 Assault on Kacha

Napoleon's position was extremely important, and under no circumstances could anything happen to him. Therefore, upon receiving Napoleon's command, Mirella immediately led his cavalry to support Tortona.

That morning, General Mirella convened the officers of his cavalry division, along with several infantry division commanders.

"Gentlemen, just now, the Consul issued an urgent order. Tortona is in dire need of assistance, and we must go to their aid. Brothers, we've rested for quite some time now, and our losses have been replenished. It's time for us to continue our offensive," General Mirella said with a stern expression.

"General, that goes without saying. We've rested long enough, and our troops are fully recovered and ready for battle at any moment. Moreover, for the sake of rescuing the Consul, we're willing to risk it all," Mirella's officers responded fervently.

After numerous victories, Napoleon's personal prestige had become deeply ingrained in the hearts of the French people. Countless French soldiers idolized Napoleon.

So when the French soldiers heard that they were going to rescue Napoleon, they were filled with righteous indignation, eager to rush to Tortona and save Napoleon.

"In that case, I will issue the order to commence operations. Tomorrow morning, my Central Cavalry Division will lead the charge as the vanguard, while Desai, you will command the nine infantry divisions to provide support. No matter what, we must defeat the Austrian army besieging Tortona and rescue Consul Napoleon," Mirella said firmly.

The next morning, the entire French camp erupted into activity. French soldiers swiftly rose to their feet at the call of their officers, preparing their gear and weapons.

They were the troops heading to support Napoleon.

"Let's go!" With the morning sun shining down, Mirella rode on a white horse at the head of his cavalry division. With a loud shout, nearly six thousand cavalrymen urged their horses forward, the entire army resembling a long dragon as they raced towards the horizon.

"Mirella Uncle, I have something to say. I don't think we should go to Tortona," Roland rode up to Mirella's side during the march and spoke.

"Roland, what are you saying? Say that again?" Mirella asked in astonishment, wondering if he had misheard.

Mirella couldn't comprehend Roland's words. If Roland weren't Napoleon's nephew, Mirella might have mistaken him for someone opposing Napoleon.

"Mirella Uncle, you heard me right. My suggestion is that we turn back," Roland repeated.

"Uncle Mirella, the main Austrian forces are all in Tortona right now. If we rush there and engage in direct conflict, we might not achieve significant results. Instead, we could get bogged down in a prolonged battle with the Austrian army, which would be more trouble than it's worth. So, I think we should turn around and attack Kacha," Roland said calmly.

"Kacha?" Mirella asked, puzzled. He had never heard of this place before.

"Mirella Uncle, here is Kacha," Roland pulled out a map and showed it to Mirella.

"Kacha is a small town, but its strategic location is extremely important. Any route from Venice to Tortona passes through Kacha. Therefore, it has become a crucial logistical hub for the Austrian army. My suggestion is that we avoid the main Austrian army and attack Kacha instead. With Desai's nine infantry divisions supporting, I believe that's enough," Roland explained.

"Are you suggesting that we attack the Austrian rear, disrupt their supplies, and force them to retreat without a fight?" Mirella stroked his chin, deep in thought.

"Exactly! That's precisely what I mean. The Austrian army has assembled 200,000 troops to attack Tortona. Feeding such a massive force every day is an astronomical task. They are heavily reliant on their logistical supplies. By destroying their supplies, we can turn their 200,000 strong army into easy prey," Roland pointed at the map.

"Cutting off the enemy's logistical supplies is a simple tactic, but it has always been highly effective whenever it's been used," Roland said.

"Roland! You're incredibly smart. Even if you weren't Napoleon's nephew, with your outstanding military talent, you would undoubtedly become a very famous general in the French army," Mirella exclaimed, shocked and impressed as he turned to Roland after a brief silence.

"Uncle Mirella!" Roland exclaimed joyously. Having been with Mirella for so long, he was familiar with Mirella's temperament. He knew that Mirella's reaction meant he agreed.

"All troops, listen up! Turn around and head towards Kacha!" Mirella commanded with a sweeping gesture.

---

On the border of Venice, a small town called Kacha served as a logistical hub for the Austrian army. Every day, large quantities of supplies were sent from Vienna, passed through Venice, and transported to Kacha before being distributed to the frontline Austrian troops.

Naturally, the town was bustling with activity. Warehouses were filled with supplies, and Austrian soldiers were busy at work everywhere.

"Ah, this war is killing me. When will it end?" a grumbling Austrian soldier complained as he loaded supplies onto a cart.

"Stop complaining. We're lucky to be here. You don't know how bad it is at the frontlines. People are dying every day. Just look at the wounded soldiers coming back. Logistics is safer. You should be grateful," another soldier retorted.

"Oliver, don't mind Bill. He's just stubborn. Wait till he gets his legs blown off by a French cannon. Then he'll regret it," a bearded senior soldier joked with them.

"Bill, Oliver is talking about you! Why don't you go and report to the captain, ask him to transfer you to the frontline?" Oliver teased his companion.

"Forget it. I'm not married yet. There may be opportunities for promotion on the frontline, but I want to keep my life," Bill shivered involuntarily. He had seen firsthand how terrible it was for the wounded soldiers returning from the front lines. Some had lost their legs, and some were disfigured. He didn't want to end up like that.

"Boom!"

As several Austrian soldiers were bantering with each other, a thunderous sound suddenly echoed from the sky, causing many of the laboring Austrian soldiers to furrow their brows. They looked up at the sky; the sun was still hanging high, and there were no dark clouds.

"That's strange. Why would there be thunder? Is it going to rain again?" Oliver wondered.

"No, it's not thunder! It's cavalry. Oh God! So many cavalry!" another Austrian soldier pointed into the distance, shouting in fear.

In the distance, at the edge of the sky, a wave of blue and white was rapidly approaching Kacha. From their attire, it was evident that these were not the Austrian Hussars but the French Imperial Guard cavalry.

The Hussars wore green uniforms, while the cavalry before them were clad in blue and white, clearly distinguishing the two sides.

"The French cavalry. How did the French cavalry reach here?" Upon seeing the cavalry army before them, all the Austrians were thrown into a panic.

The Austrian troops before them were the logistical units of the Austrian army, lacking in combat training and therefore their fighting capability was naturally low. Hence, upon encountering the French cavalry, they were all filled with panic. They fled towards the city, cursing their luck for being born with two legs.

Soon, Mirella's cavalry formed up, surrounding the small town. Countless French cavalrymen took formation, drawing their sabers, encircling the town menacingly. Their faces were fierce, their eyes filled with an unstoppable determination.
