Chapter 555: On the Possibility of Natural Conception Between High-Sequence Couples
It's like brine curdling tofu—one thing conquers another.
Aisala's unruly nature can only be tamed by Sharon.
Hastur ignored Aisala's pleading eyes and simply suggested she take advantage of the morning to go out and have some fun.
Aisala thought this made sense and hurriedly left the house, with the butler Neil quickly instructing two maids to follow her.
On the second floor, Sharon glanced at Hastur, who was sitting in the living room seriously reading a newspaper, and then turned back to her room without disturbing him.
When she returned to her room, Hastur was already there, looking at her thoughtfully.
"Sharon, I need your cooperation on something."
"No."
Sharon refused outright; she knew exactly what Hastur was referring to.
"This is a very serious scientific question. If we can solve it, it will benefit future generations."
"You're not that kind of person."
"Sometimes, I also want to do something good, leave something for the world, make some contributions."
Unable to resist Hastur's earnest words, Sharon slowly walked over.
"Don't worry, it's still daytime," Hastur reassured her, dispelling her last doubts. He placed a chair directly opposite him and began discussing the matter of having children, while also explaining some modern knowledge about male and female biology.
"It's very difficult," Sharon finally responded.
Natural conception is almost impossible for high-sequence Beyonders. Generally, if Beyonder parents conceive naturally, it happens when they are still at low sequences. Once they advance to Sequence 4, the parents might follow different Beyonder paths, becoming mythological creatures vastly different from each other, essentially two different species.
Reproductive isolation between different species is basic scientific knowledge.
If only one partner is a Beyonder and the other is an ordinary person, natural conception might still be possible, even at high sequences. The child would inherit the Beyonder characteristics of the Beyonder parent, potentially being born as a Sequence 9, 8, or even higher. However, the newborn's Beyonder traits must be sealed immediately, as their weak body and consciousness cannot handle such power.
If conception is not natural, the resulting offspring could be monstrous.
There have been many such examples throughout history.
"Do you know the legendary giants?"
"Yes."
"Do you know about the Giant King Ormir and his queen, the Harvest Goddess Omibella?"
"I only know the Giant King."
Sharon began to listen more seriously. Initially, she thought Hastur was just using this topic to tease her, but he seemed genuinely interested.
Does he really want a child?
"The Giant King and the Harvest Goddess were high-sequence Beyonders, even gods, and they had offspring," Hastur continued after some thought. "They had two children: the God of Dawn and the God of Glory."
Sharon looked at Hastur in silence, surprised at how easily he spoke of such ancient knowledge without any reverence for the gods.
"Did they conceive naturally, or did they use their Beyonder abilities to create their offspring?"
Hastur was genuinely interested in this question. The ancient Sun God was solitary, and Adam and Amon were not born through natural means. But the Giant King and the Harvest Goddess, as well as the Elf King and Queen, were couples. Did they use Beyonder abilities, or did they conceive naturally over long periods?
It seems unrealistic for all these races to rely solely on Beyonder abilities for reproduction.
They were mostly Beyonders, and there were certainly high-sequence Beyonder couples who conceived naturally.
This suggests that in ancient times, high-sequence Beyonders could conceive naturally.
"Ancient history is buried. I don't think you can find the correct answer."
"Not necessarily," Hastur smiled. "Do you know The Forsaken Land of the Gods?"
"I've heard of it."
"There are still cities there, remnants from the Giant era, and living giants."
Sharon's eyes flashed with surprise. Living giants and ancient cities made her curious, but she quickly restrained her thoughts, speaking gravely, "It's very dangerous."
"I know the way to The Forsaken Land of the Gods. Come with me."
"It's very dangerous," Sharon repeated, her voice more serious.
"You are looking for the Beyonder characteristics of the Sequence 3 Silent Disciple. The Forsaken Land of the Gods has what you need."
Zaratul has a puppet, a Sequence 3 Silent Disciple, which is exactly what Sharon needs. Zaratul has gone to The Forsaken Land of the Gods to find the mysterious servant's Beyonder characteristics.
"I don't want you to take risks," Sharon said calmly, watching Hastur until he agreed not to venture into The Forsaken Land of the Gods for now. "Rapid advancement on the Beyonder path is not a good thing; we are still young."
She had already advanced to Sequence 4 at a young age, which was terrifyingly fast. Her teacher had advised her not to rush to Sequence 3, to experience life more, enrich her spiritual level, and then slowly climb higher.
Hastur's advancement speed was even faster, which was abnormal.
...
In Backlund, after the second psychological treatment from Miss Justice, Klein was gradually recovering and had learned from Will that Mr. Hastur was currently in Southville County. If he wanted to talk to him, he would have to go there himself.
"Has he guessed my real purpose for seeking him?"
Klein couldn't help but think this absurd thought.
On second thought, it seemed unlikely.
Even if Hastur, like him, was a transmigrator, how could Hastur, who hadn't gone above the gray fog, determine that Klein knew the secret of transmigration?
Unless he could observe everything from above, like the stars.
Klein dismissed the thought and glanced at familiar Backlund. He knew he needed to leave again to perform as a Trickster.
Around five o'clock in the afternoon, Klein, under a new identity, invited Benson and Melissa to a lavish dinner, telling them he would be leaving Backlund for a while.
It wasn't hard to get close to Benson and Melissa. Knowing their personalities, Klein easily became a good friend, occasionally inviting them to meals.
Once, Benson even invited him to dinner at their home, and the familiar taste of the food made him reluctant to leave.
Around ten o'clock in the evening, Klein, now in the identity of the wealthy Dawn Dunstay, went to the Brave Bar to talk to Leonard.
Will had informed him that Leonard would definitely be at the Brave Bar tonight.
From Will's mysterious tone, Klein sensed something unusual had happened to Leonard recently.
When Klein entered the Brave Bar, he saw Leonard drinking alone at the bar. He looked troubled, his beard unkempt, his eyes both gloomy and determined.
He seemed to be hesitating about something, torn between wanting and not wanting.
Knowing Leonard's character, Klein could roughly guess his thoughts.
To avoid disturbing Leonard and out of curiosity about what Will had hinted at, Klein found a spot where he could see Leonard but Leonard couldn't see him.
After about an hour, Leonard, who had drunk five or six glasses of Southville beer, finally met his guest for the night.
A young, beautiful woman in a black dress, exuding a blend of gentleness and wisdom. Her clear, bright eyes seemed both pure and weathered.
Wait, she looks familiar.
Klein recalled the last time he attended the Yellow Robe Church's founding ceremony; the representative from the Witch Sect looked just like this woman in the black dress.
Confirming her identity, Klein gasped. Was Leonard on a date with a witch?
Could he not see the problem with this woman?
Or did he want to experience a witch's charm?
Was this what Will had hinted at?
Klein pondered many things, quietly sipping his drink, waiting to see Leonard's next move.
