Chapter 348: The Night Descends!

"I will fulfill your wish!"

Gregory flew in front of Azik. In the depths of her eyes, a golden flame transformed into a phoenix soaring with wings spread wide, diving into Azik's mind.

Inside the room, Azik remained calm, cooperating with Gregory's power. Using the golden bird-shaped artifact, he completely suppressed Salinger's consciousness.

Realizing the dire situation, Salinger began his final struggle.

A giant feathered serpent with dark green scales and pale yellow oily feathers growing between the gaps emerged. Its eye sockets burned with a pale flame, and its face was human-like.

It was another unfamiliar version of Azik Eggers!

As the phoenix and the feathered serpent clashed, Azik, who served as the battlefield, felt as if two steel spikes were piercing his temples, threatening to split his head in half.

Past memories and scenes hammered his mind like Thor's hammer, making it unbearable. He clutched his head, knees weakening, nearly collapsing to the ground.

"Hah, hah, hah!"

Azik's hands unknowingly supported him on the desk in front of him, and his throat emitted sounds no human could make.

Sweat dripped from his forehead, staining the floor with a layer of pale yellow grease, sprouting fine white fuzz.

At this moment, he felt the call and yearning of his other half's soul again. Two selves separated for over a thousand years desperately wanted to reunite and become whole.

"No!"

Azik resisted the desire for his soul to become whole with his last bit of self-awareness.

He did not want to become the cold and mad Death Archon again. The bits and pieces of his past rebirths were his warm and precious memories, his strongest shield against madness and fusion. They were his anchor!

But his eyes still involuntarily lifted, and dark, cold scales began to grow around his eye sockets.

His forehead seemed to come alive, bulging and splitting open, revealing a bloody gash.

A golden light emerged from the void, taking shape within his flesh.

It was an ancient golden ornament, shaped like a slender bird, surrounded by wings of pale flame. Its bronze eyes glowed, forming a mysterious and illusory gate.

Azik's expression grew more pained, but over time, the ancient golden bird-shaped ornament seemed to be reborn from the ashes, transforming from static to a real phoenix capable of soaring the skies!

The surrounding pale flames were gradually devoured and replaced by golden flames.

"No!"

In the end, Azik let out a twisted and unwilling roar.

The giant feathered serpent's form shrank continuously, becoming like a caterpillar, caught in the phoenix's beak and swallowed whole.

"Burp..."

Gregory pretended to burp.

Azik's body returned to normal, except for the golden ornament in his forehead, now a part of his flesh.

"This item was originally left behind by me, Salinger. As you began to resurrect, my consciousness also gradually awakened."

Gregory sighed, and the phoenix transformed back into a golden ornament, embedding itself in Azik's flesh and disappearing.

"Your wish has been fulfilled."

At this moment, her small body radiated an undeniable majesty. Starting from this room, everyone in the palace felt an urge to kneel.

This was Gregory restraining her aura as much as possible. Otherwise, the entire southern continent's inhabitants would be affected, kneeling to welcome their new deity.

Members of the cult devoutly worshiping the God of Death felt an emptiness in their hearts, as if their god was drifting away. But soon, a different fullness quickly filled their hearts.

Their god had returned!

And stronger and more awe-inspiring than ever.

They knelt in unison, eyes filled with fervor, no longer worshiping the feathered serpent as their totem.

The phoenix, reborn from the ashes, was now their true faith!

As things were about to settle, the light of the crimson moon was shrouded by layers of dark clouds.

A cold and silent night descended!

Tonight, the entire southern continent's sky was devoid of light, a heavy darkness sweeping in, sending chills down people's spines.

Accompanied by an aura of tranquility and sleep, people struggled to keep their eyes open, succumbing to deep slumber.

In the bustling streets of the East Byron Empire, the bars remained brightly lit, but the patrons, who had been drinking and reveling, now slumped over tables or curled up in corners, fast asleep.

Some patrons, heading to the restroom to relieve themselves, fell asleep on the toilet as soon as they unbuttoned their pants.

The aura of sleep spread, and only a few powerful extraordinaries sensed something amiss. Everyone else was swept into sweet dreams.

Sharon, waiting for Gregory's return, had not slept tonight. But now, she felt a rare urge to relax and lie down for a good sleep.

Since becoming a puppet, she rarely slept, sometimes going half a month without rest, let alone feeling this drowsy.

"Did something happen tonight?"

Sharon went to the window, gazing at the starless sky, only to see the eternal night blocking all light.

The crimson moon, the stars, none of their light reached the earth. Everything around was silent.

Quiet, a world of absolute silence.

She wanted to investigate further, but her eyelids drooped, and she leaned against the window, falling into a deep sleep.

In Berenice Port, a young and handsome man watched the sleeping crowd at the port, a smile on his lips. He walked over to the port official who had just extorted 50 gold pounds from him, squatted down, and took a stack of gold pounds from the man's pocket, counting out 50 before tossing the rest back onto the man's face.

After doing this, he looked up at the starless sky.

"The night is so thick with secrecy. This is the power of the Hidden Authority, truly a grand occasion."

The High-Dimensional Overseer admired the night sky for a while longer before heading towards the area with the densest night aura.

Tonight, he had just happened to come to the southern continent and stumbled upon such an interesting event.

Simple coincidence couldn't explain it; it had to be the pull of the stars.

Tonight's events must have something to do with the stars, which influenced him to come to this southern continent unknowingly.

As he walked through the streets of the East Byron Empire's capital, his eyes narrowed slightly, staring at an unremarkable priest who suddenly appeared before him.

"Long time no see."

"Interesting, did you come here specifically to wait for me?" The High-Dimensional Overseer chuckled. "This makes me even more curious about what you're planning tonight."

Adam looked up at the night-shrouded sky, his expression unreadable. "Aren't you curious about the true state of the stars?"

"I'm quite curious, but I won't go out of my way to spy on them."

"Then stay here and be a spectator."

"What's in it for me?" The High-Dimensional Overseer sneered. "To quote a human saying, if you want me to stand by, you need to pay. Can you offer enough?"

Adam's face remained calm. "I can help you hunt the Storm Lord."

"That's quite a tempting offer. I admit I'm interested." The High-Dimensional Overseer glanced around, found a seat at a bar's outdoor table, and sat down with a bright smile. "I accept your offer because the stars haven't called for my help tonight. I just happened to be passing by."

Adam also sat down across from the High Observer.

The High-Dimensional Overseer played with an empty glass on the table with his right hand, while his left hand reached into the space beside him, pulling out two bottles of fine wine from who knows where. He poured himself a glass before speaking. "Want to try?"

"I don't drink," Adam shook his head.

"You're missing out on a lot of fun in life."

The two seemed to have reversed roles, with the High-Dimensional Overseer being the local familiar with human society, and Adam the outsider.

After savoring a glass of wine, the High-Dimensional Overseer glanced at the sky, a smile in his eyes. "If you want to probe the stars, be prepared for the board to be flipped. Even I haven't fully understood their authority."

He pointed to the sky. "They might be watching right now. Everything is under the stars' gaze."

Adam's expression grew more serious as he looked at the sky, observing something unknown.

Inside the palace, in the study, Gregory suddenly disappeared. Azik, now back to normal, looked at the figure that had suddenly appeared.

It was a beautiful lady, dressed in classical robes, wearing a black hood, her face expressionless, her eyes dark and lacking vitality.
