章 147: Chapter 138 - Inside Job Final

This will be the final chapter.

For this arc.

Anyway, I've been busy with my finals and lack ideas for this fic but I will try my best to make more chapters.

Reagan moved on to a series of tests, starting with her newfound telekinetic abilities. Concentrating, she focused on a row of small metal spheres set up across the room, lifting them in unison with an effortless flick of her fingers.

Each sphere hovered, moved, and rotated in response to her subtle mental commands. Morty watched with a smirk, jotting down more notes as he observed her progress.

"Alright," she said with a grin.

"Let's try something else." She turned to him, narrowing her eyes in concentration, and attempted to reach into his mind, probing gently to test her telepathic abilities.

Morty felt her mental touch but chuckled, shaking his head.

"Nice try, but it's not that easy with me," he said, his voice amused.

"I've got a few safeguards—psychic dampeners, a neural firebreak matrix, and something I call a 'mental marrion.' It's an advanced mental defense, like a firewall around my thoughts. Keeps my mind pretty secure."

Reagan sighed in playful frustration.

"Of course, you'd have a whole suite of psychic defenses." She gave him a wry smile.

"Can't say I'm surprised." Morty shrugged, smirking.

"Comes with the territory. But still, your psionic output is impressive, especially for someone who just started tapping into this level of ability. You've already gained solid control."

After a few more tests, with Reagan lifting, manipulating, and propelling objects with impressive precision, Morty finally closed his tablet, giving her an approving nod.

"You're in full control now," he said with satisfaction.

"Your psionic energy channels, synaptic integrity, and even the neural conduits have stabilized perfectly. You've got complete mastery over your new abilities." Reagan beamed, clearly thrilled.

"Great! Now that jellyfish son of bitch won't read my mind anymore!" She laughed while Morty smiled.

Time passed, and within Cognito Inc., Reagan's coworkers had gathered in the conference room, buzzing with energy. Brett Hand, currently in the body of Glenn Dolphman, leaned back in his chair, exchanging smirks with Andre Lee, Gigi Thompson, the real Glenn Dolphman, and the telepathic mushroom Myc Cellium.

"Alright, folks, let's face it—this is the easiest money we'll ever make," Gigi chuckled, resting her elbows on the table.

"I mean, Reagan landing a boyfriend? Doubt it."

Andre snorted.

"Yeah, it's not like she doesn't try… but let's be real, she's never brought anyone home."

Brett, though slightly uncomfortable, tried to defend her.

"Are we sure we're not being too harsh on Reagan?"

"We're not harsh, hun, we're just stating facts," Gigi replied with a shrug. The others murmured in agreement, each quietly confident in their bets.

Suddenly, there was a muffled commotion outside the conference room doors, growing louder as if a crowd was gathering in the hallway. Myc, ever the curious one, reached out with his telepathic abilities. His "mind" reeled back as if burned.

"WHAT THE—?!"

The others turned, alarmed.

"What's going on, Myc?" Andre asked, his brows furrowed.

Before Myc could respond, the doors flew open with a dramatic bang. The entire room went silent, their jaws dropping as Reagan entered, emanating an unmistakable aura of confidence and power. Her appearance had transformed, her figure sleek and toned, with an elegance and strength that left her coworkers speechless. She carried herself with newfound grace, her psionically enhanced senses allowing her to notice every subtle reaction.

Reagan looked around the room, noting her coworkers' stunned expressions with a small, knowing smirk. The group sat in stunned silence, still processing Reagan's transformation. Brett, eyes wide, managed to stammer,

"Uh… Reagan? Is… that really you?"

Reagan nodded with a confident smirk.

"Surprised?"

Glenn, never one to mince words, blurted out

"What the hell happened to you?!"

Gigi blinked, unable to muster her usual quick retorts.

"Damn, girl… what, did you take some kind of super-serum?"

"Something like that," Reagan replied casually, enjoying their reactions.

Andre raised his hands, clearly still skeptical.

"Okay, okay, but does this mean… you really have a boyfriend?"

"That's right," Reagan replied, her eyes glinting with satisfaction.

The group exchanged looks, still processing the revelation. Then, Myc crossed his arms, his voice laced with doubt.

"Hold up, you expect us to believe you suddenly have some perfect, out-of-this-world boyfriend? We're gonna need some evidence." Gigi nodded, leaning forward.

"Yeah, we're not saying you're lying, but… well, okay, we're totally saying you're lying. Prove it!" Reagan's blink several times hearing them then facepalm.

"... Seriously? Isn't my transformation enough?" She stated while they still didn't believe her.

"You could have just used some of my experimental serum we don't know about! So tell me where you get it!" Gigi is envious of Reagan's new body.

"Yeah, we need proof!" Myc demanded and Reagan sighed, taking out her phone.

"Fine," Reagan said, rolling her eyes. "Let me just call him." She pulled out her phone, but before she could dial, a swirling golden portal materialized right in the room. Everyone froze, their jaws dropping as a figure stepped through.

Out came a young man with sleek brown hair, flawless skin, and a lean yet broad-shouldered physique. His calm gaze swept the room, immediately capturing their attention.

"Morty! Perfect timing!" Reagan exclaimed, walking over to him with a smile. Without hesitation, she leaned in and gave him a quick kiss, leaving her coworkers utterly stunned.

Gigi let out an exaggerated gasp. "Oh my god! The world really must be ending—she actually snagged a HUNK!"

Brett's jaw dropped. "Wait, this guy is real?!"

Morty chuckled, glancing around at Reagan's gaping coworkers. "So, these are your friends?" he asked, his tone amused as the golden portal vanished behind him.

"Good day, everyone," Morty greeted, his voice calm but carrying a confident edge. "I'm Morty Sanchez. And no, I'm not a robot, so stop thinking that." He paused, then shrugged. "Although, technically, maybe I am. Does having nanites make me a robot, a cyborg, or an android?"

Across the room, Myc squinted, attempting to read Morty's mind. He frowned, frustrated. "I can't read his thoughts—there's some kind of barrier. You're clearly not… fully human, are you?"

Morty smirked, unfazed. "Human, sure. Just a bit more… advanced. I've got nanotech enhancements, and yeah, I travel the multiverse exploring, seeing what's out there."

Brett, still adjusting to this strange revelation, practically jumped out of his seat. "Wait—are you saying the multiverse is real?!"

Morty nodded, enjoying their wide-eyed reactions.

"Absolutely. Endless dimensions, each more different than the last.".

"But it's complicated," Morty continued, turning to Reagan. "Trying to explain it is like teaching algebra to a toddler before they've even learned to talk."

He then handed her a sleek, glowing device. "Oh, and I finished setting up your resume. You're all set to start working tomorrow."

Everyone stared, baffled.

"What… what does he mean by that, Reagan?" Andre asked, a mix of confusion and disbelief on his face.

Reagan took a deep breath, exuding a newfound confidence. "Well, I've decided to leave Cognito Inc. permanently. I'll be joining Morty's company as Head Tech Developer… in his dimension, actually. I'm here to hand in my resignation."

A stunned silence filled the room.

"That can't be! You're leaving us… for a guy you just met yesterday?!" Andre stammered.

Reagan gave a small, knowing smile. "Maybe it feels like a day for you, but for me, it's been months. I've spent time growing, and I see things more clearly now. " Reagan said acting more confident in herself and she also learned how truly horrible her father was to her.

Everyone stared, dumbfounded. *Months!?* How was that even possible? Then again, this was Cognito Inc.—they dealt with the impossible daily.

"So, what… you're just leaving? What about us?" Brett asked, clearly hurt.

Reagan's expression was as cool as steel. "What about it? You're just my coworkers. That's all."

Her bluntness stung, and Brett's face fell. Unbothered, she strode over to the table, lifting the stack of cash with a flick of her psionic abilities—the winnings she'd earned.

"And I'll be taking this, thanks. It's been fun, but I've got a new adventure ahead."

Without another word, Morty opened a shimmering portal. As the others scrambled to stop them, it was too late. Reagan stepped through with Morty, disappearing into the unknown.

Silence filled the room as the portal closed, leaving everyone staring at the empty space where she'd stood.

"…So, what now?" someone muttered.

Cognito would soon be plunged into chaos without her. But Reagan didn't care. If humanity crumbled, that was their problem. There were infinite universes out there—one world didn't matter. Her parents? They'd never deserved her. She had found her own place now, and it was with Morty.

"Alright, let's go tell my dad to finally fuck off," Reagan said with a smirk as she climbed into Morty's Koenigsegg Gemera. Morty grinned, revving the engine as they sped toward her old home.

They arrived swiftly, stepping into the house to find Rand lounging on the couch, drink in hand, glued to the TV. He glanced over, squinting at the sight of Reagan.

"Am I seeing things, or is this some slutty version of my daughter?" he sneered.

"It's me, you piece of garbage," Reagan replied coldly, her eyes flashing as she used her psionic powers to lift him from the couch and slam him against the wall.

Rand yelped, struggling against the invisible force. "What the hell, Reagan!? What happened to you?! Better yet, why the hell are you doing this—"

He gasped, his words cut off as his head pulsed with a searing pain, courtesy of her psionic abilities.

"I learned what you did!" Reagan's voice trembled with fury.

"How could you erase my memories, manipulate my entire life? You treated me like some tool instead of a daughter! You never loved me, and you definitely never cared. You're just an egotistical asshole who only ever thought of himself!"

With a surge of her psionic abilities, she channeled her pain into his mind, making him feel every ounce of anguish he had caused her.

"That's why I'm leaving and forgetting you ever existed. And I'll make sure you can't hurt anyone else," she declared, gripping the part of his mind that held his intelligence. In one swift motion, she tore it away, leaving him gasping and dazed.

"W-What the hell, Reagan? I'm your father! Didn't I take care of you, feed you?" Rand stammered, trying to defend himself, but his words only fueled her anger.

"You're not my father," she spat.

"You're just a sperm donor. You never tried to be a real father to me." Reagan finished and let Rand go leaving in agony as he tried to stop Reagan from leaving but it was too late.

"Let's go, there's nothing left here."

Leaving Rand behind without a backward glance, Reagan and Morty made their way to her mother's home. Tamiko greeted them at the door, her eyes widening at the sight of Reagan's transformed appearance—stronger, more confident, almost a different person entirely.

"Reagan?" Tamiko gasped, looking her daughter over in disbelief.

"You… you look incredible. And who's this?"

Reagan smiled, her anger replaced with warmth as she took Morty's hand.

"Mom, this is Morty. He's my boyfriend."

Tamiko raised her eyebrows, clearly impressed.

"Well, Reagan, I can see you've really grown—inside and out." Her eyes sparkled as she looked Morty up and down.

"And you've even captured yourself a handsome one."

She invited them both inside, preparing tea as they settled into the cozy living room. Over steaming cups, they caught up, with Tamiko listening attentively as Reagan explained the changes she'd been through, what she had discovered about her father, and how Morty had been there to support her. For the first time in a long while, Reagan felt a true sense of comfort and understanding with her mother by her side.

Eventually, they finished their visit, parting from Tamiko with a warm hug and a promise to stay in touch. Stepping outside, Reagan and Morty made their way back to the car. Morty slid into the driver's seat and started the engine, the car humming to life.

He looked over at Reagan, raising an eyebrow.

"So, you ready?"

She smiled, eyes glinting with newfound confidence.

"I was born ready."

With a smirk, Morty accelerated, driving toward the portal he had opened to his dimension. The world around them shifted, colors swirling until they crossed into Morty's world—a place of endless possibilities, where Reagan could start anew.

As the portal closed behind them, she felt a rush of excitement. This was the beginning of a whole new life, one where she could finally be free, strong, and, most importantly, truly herself.
