Imperial Outpost. Trading World
This world had no had no name that the Imperials knew to call it by, and Miranda hadn't bothered to memorise the Tau'ri designation for it. What did matter to them was that long ago the Goa'uld System Lord called Apophis used this world for training his warriors.
As his armies of Jaffa dwindled away Apophis began to train human underlings for an infiltration of Earth as well as to serve him in place of his Jaffa warriors. Half would be armed with Tau'ri weapons, while another group would wear Jaffa armour and carry staff weapons.
The settlement had been made to appear like some Earth military installation, with crew quarters, an armoury and an equipment tent, which were required to sustain the operation. The trainees battled with Intar weapons, before switching to real weapons, which were stored away in a cave, not to be used until the final test.
When the trainees learned of Apophis's sort of death back in 1999, their leader encouraged them to abandon the camp and return to their home worlds, since then the planet had been abandoned as it had no natives or naquadah mines.
Now Miranda and her younger clone/sister had been working to create an outpost near the gate that would act as a trading post for anyone who came to visit.
Off-world teams who encountered anyone who looked as if they had anything worth trading would be shown how to reach this world via the Stargate and encouraged to come here to trade. Mostly it was a way of acquiring some rare bits of technology and more naquadah rather than mere money.
Unlike Thrax III or the Alpha Site the trading post had far less in the way of defences, because people needed to feel as they could travel here freely, but it was hardly defenceless as the outpost would be protected by a small garrison and more defences would be added once the outpost started to make Lord Thrax some profit.
"This is a chance for you to show Max what you can really do" Miranda said to her sister/clone as they toured the outpost that was still being put together "If you can make this place a success he'll trust you with even greater responsibilities in the future".
Oriana looked around and rather than see the crude start of a hopefully successful trading outpost she envisioned the finished product. Such as where she'd have a large bar set up for visitors, and the location of the casino.
She also imagined how she'd be able to look down on all of this from her office that would be on the top floor of the outpost main building. From there the outpost would be administered and any valuable pieces of technology would be stored until it was shipped off-world.
There would also need to be a bank for the storage of the Naquadah that the people running the outpost would use to trade for technology and perhaps some useful bits of information. Who knew what Oriana might learn from wandering traders.
"I can get this place running" she promised Miranda "It's a lot like setting up a new colony only I'll be finding ways to make a profit rather than providing people with new homes".
While the Thrax Dynasty was supposed to be a united effort in reality the dynasty was much like the Imperial expedition as a whole in that the wives of the Rogue Trader had their own agenda for the future just like the different Imperials factions did.
These plans involved making sure that their children were the ones who inherited the best part of Max's holdings. They wouldn't even have to wait until he died since the Rogue Trader planned his adult children in charge of some of his holdings as soon as they were ready for the role.
An outpost like this wouldn't need an Imperial governor and it wouldn't be paying any tithes to the Imperium. Yet one day it could become an important centre of trade in the galaxy, one that the sisters and their children controlled for many generations. To ensure that this happened Oriana had to make it profitable enough that Thrax felt no need to place someone more experienced in charge.
Let his purple eyed children with his princess-wife command starships, it would be those two perfect women and their offspring who would actually keep the coffers of House Thrax filled to overflowing as they took charge of the running out of the noble house.
"I know you can do it" said Miranda as she placed an arm around her younger sister/clone "But let's have a drink and make sure that you have it all planned out".
