The chaos at the main gate of Konoha immediately attracted the attention of the ANBU. However, when they arrived, they were shocked by the scene in front of them.
The street, which stretched nearly a hundred meters, looked as though it had been swept by a violent storm.
Broken bricks and debris were scattered everywhere, and in the center, a trench had been plowed, several meters wide and nearly half a meter deep, resembling a canyon.
The ANBU followed the trench with their gaze.
They saw that the massive gates of Konoha were covered in dense cracks, as though they had endured some terrifying attack.
Amid the spreading fractures, a person was embedded in the middle, their body crushed and bloodied, making it impossible to tell who they were.
"What... what happened here?!"
The ANBU were stunned. They quickly noticed someone lying among the rubble and rushed over. "Hey, can you still talk? Tell me what happened here!"
The person lying in the debris was Maruboshi Kosuke. He spat blood and weakly lifted his hand to point at the mangled figure stuck in the Konoha gates. "Quick... he is... Orochimaru..."
With that, he tilted his head, unconscious.
What?!
Orochimaru?!
The ANBU's pupils dilated in shock, and they turned back to look at the Konoha gates, astonished. "Who... who could have done this to Orochimaru, one of the Legendary Sannin?!"
They failed to notice another charred body nearby.
The greatest contributor, Might Duy, was now on the brink of death, his body emitting white steam as his chest rose and fell slowly, gradually coming to a stop. His hollow eyes remained fixed on Orochimaru, even in death.
*Cough... cough...*
Orochimaru, who had been slammed into the gates with such force, suddenly coughed up blood and lifted his bloodied face. His eyes, bloodshot and filled with malice, stared relentlessly at the charred body.
His voice was hoarse. "Very well... you taught me a lesson with your life, Might Duy, was it? I will remember your name!"
Curiosity can kill!
This was the painful lesson Orochimaru learned and would never forget, imprinted deeply into his heart.
How could he forget?
Half his body had been crushed! Any normal ninja would have died instantly, no matter how many lives they had. But unfortunately for Duy, he was up against an abnormal ninja.
The Legendary Sannin each had their special fields.
Tsunade was skilled in healing and superhuman strength, Jiraiya in sage techniques and fire jutsu, and Orochimaru... he was best at biological modifications and life-saving techniques.
"Fortunately... I modified my body in advance."
Orochimaru was incredibly thankful. If he hadn't preemptively altered his body, that kick would have sent him straight to the Pure Land.
"How... is he still alive?!"
Upon seeing this, the Anbu immediately felt a surge of fear. Their eyes hardened with resolve, and they saw the opportunity. They rushed forward without hesitation.
"Hmph... You think you can kill me just because I'm weakened?" Orochimaru's pupils constricted slightly, and a chilling killing intent flowed in his eyes.
"Die, traitor!"
The Anbu moved swiftly, leaping into the air with gathered strength. They threw a kunai at Orochimaru while forming hand signs: "Fire Style..."
However, before the hand signs could be completed, a poisonous snake shot out in front of him at blinding speed. It was like a flash of black light, and the Anbu suddenly felt a sharp pain in their neck.
"Ah!"
The Anbu screamed in agony, their face quickly turning from red to green. The poison spread throughout their body, and they fell lifeless to the ground in an instant.
"Foolish," Orochimaru scoffed coldly. Though he was severely injured, it didn't mean that a mere Anbu could take his life.
He struggled to get off the door, panting slightly. His lower half transformed into a snake's body, slithering out toward the street.
Sssss… Sssss…
An unusual breeze swept across the street.
Orochimaru's face darkened as frustration surged inside him. Why was it that every time, just when he was about to escape, someone always showed up to cause trouble?
Whoosh, whoosh, whoosh…
Several figures appeared, their animal masks unmistakable. Reinforcements from the Anbu had arrived.
"Such a hassle…" Orochimaru deeply felt what it was like to be targeted by the Anbu. It was like being stuck with chewing gum, impossible to shake off!
"Attack!"
The leading Anbu shouted, and the rest charged forward.
"Tsk… Looks like things are about to escalate," Orochimaru said, licking his lips. His gaze turned cruel and fierce. "Seems like if I want to leave today, I'll have to carve a bloody path."
Before he could finish his sentence, several poisonous snakes shot from his mouth.
The Anbu in the front hurriedly slashed at the snakes, but their gaze remained locked on Orochimaru. As they saw his snake body writhing, they quickly threw shuriken.
Puchi! Puchi! Puchi!
Several blood flowers bloomed. Orochimaru ignored the attacks, charging forward despite the shuriken embedded in him. Suddenly, his neck elongated several times its normal length, and with a snap, he bit into the neck of one Anbu.
The Anbu's pupils widened as they instantly lost all breath.
But the other Anbu took the opportunity and swung their knives toward Orochimaru's elongated neck.
Just as it seemed he was about to die, they saw his mouth grow wider and wider, and then a shadowy figure, drenched in moisture, crawled out from inside.
"One..."
Orochimaru licked his lips. Though badly injured, he knew killing these Anbu would come at a cost, but it was a price he was willing to pay.
His eyes, dark and cold, swept across the Anbu like blades. He smiled, raised a finger, and motioned them over. "Come on, I'd like to see if you can kill me, Orochimaru."
*Clang!*
A sharp flash of a blade appeared seemingly out of nowhere from his left side, striking at an unusually vicious angle.
The timing was perfect! It happened just as Orochimaru was speaking, letting down his guard for a brief moment. Plus, with the ambush technique, the strike came before he could react.
In a panic, Orochimaru rolled away on the ground, barely avoiding a fatal blow. However, the blade still grazed his face, cutting off half of his ear.
With half an ear gone, Orochimaru's veins bulged on his forehead. His cold, murderous gaze locked onto the attacker, but the next moment, his expression changed to something odd.
It turned out... the attacker had short, silvery-white hair.
Kakashi, meeting Orochimaru's cold gaze, immediately felt a chill run through him. He quickly retreated several steps, holding his short sword in front of him, staying alert.
Orochimaru stared at the silver-haired youth, the corner of his mouth twitching. If it were anyone else, he would have killed them already, but this little brat... he couldn't harm him.
An eerie silence lasted only half a second.
In the next moment, the Anbu charged forward again, attacking in an orderly fashion. They clearly weren't in a hurry—they were just stalling for time!
"There's no need to keep playing around..."
Orochimaru calculated the time. If this dragged on any longer, he might really be unable to escape.
He stopped holding back his chakra, pushed back the Anbu in front of him, and then dropped to the ground, opening his mouth wide. "Serpent Formation: Myriad Snakes!"
This time, the number of snakes far exceeded before.
A dark, massive wave of snakes surged forward like a tsunami, piling up like multiple layers of buildings, pushing against each other with a chilling sound of slithering. Like a black flood breaking through a dam, they charged toward the Anbu.
The Anbu were immediately entangled by the overwhelming sea of snakes, unable to defend themselves or delay Orochimaru any longer.
"Heh... Goodbye, Konoha."
Orochimaru sneered coldly, no longer paying attention to the Anbu. He turned and stepped out of the gates of Konoha, feeling as if his mood had improved greatly. A gleam returned to his eyes.
"Amaterasu!"
Suddenly, a figure rushed towards him at lightning speed.
Without a moment's hesitation, the figure's crimson Sharingan spun, releasing a large mass of black flames.
Boom!!!
The massive wave of serpents was completely incinerated by the black flames.
"Who is it?!"
Orochimaru's expression changed drastically, but before he could react, a gust of wind hit him.
A black figure appeared, with blood-red pupils and a terrifying killing intent. The figure spun mid-air and rushed toward him at incredible speed.
So fast...
Orochimaru barely had time to curl up before being kicked in the abdomen. The force, mixed with spiraling power, sent him flying.
Crash! Crash! Crash...
Orochimaru smashed through trees along the way, finally slamming into a rock wall before coming to a stop.
"Cough, cough…"
Orochimaru spat out blood, his heart filled with both rage and frustration.
Is this bad luck? One after another, when will it end? Who is it this time?
He lifted his head, and a figure slowly came into view.
It was a woman, her black hair tied up, wearing the Uchiha clan's distinctive black cloak. The two unique Sharingan in her eyes radiated intense killing intent and madness.
"You are... Uchiha… Mikoto?!"
Orochimaru recognized the newcomer and was immediately shocked. When did the Uchiha clan have another Mangekyō Sharingan user?
However, Mikoto's beautiful face was now twisted and grotesque, as if she carried some unhealable grudge. She exuded a horrifying killing aura, almost palpable, like a demon from hell.
"You dare... dare to tamper with his soul, Orochimaru... I will make you die!!!"
Orochimaru: "???"
