章 19: Adolf Hitler of diary

"The Creator of the Miracle of the Somme River!"

Now this name is known not only to Germans but also to the British.

The loss of the G position and the entire process of losing it was a heavy blow to the proud British. You can't imagine the feeling when a fully armed platoon, in a heavily guarded position, is lost with just one casualty.

The British retaliation came quickly. And for Wang Weiya, a major challenge was also at hand.

It was somewhat difficult for twenty-eight men to hold this position, but Wang Weiya didn't seem too worried.

The British artillery began to cover the G position, and the German artillery also responded immediately, which to some extent provided support to Wang Weiya.

Artillery fire on the battlefield was too common.

The German soldiers calmly stayed in the trenches, allowing the artillery to roar nearby. It was rare for shells to land directly on the position, and of course, scenes of carnage from the artillery barrage were unlikely to occur.

Unless someone was foolish enough to run around in the artillery fire.

Adolf Hitler had also grown accustomed to all this. It was evident that his greatest hobby was writing in his diary. Even in the midst of such intense artillery fire, he didn't forget to take out his diary to jot something down.

"Hey, Adolf, let me see." A soldier named Stevin snatched Hitler's diary when he wasn't paying attention and then loudly read, "'... If one day I could be awarded the Iron Cross like Lieutenant Ernst, it would be a great honor for me...'"

"Give it back to me, Stevin!" Hitler's face flushed red as he shouted.

"Adolf, I didn't know you had such noble ideals." Stevin's words carried a hint of mockery. "It's pathetic; I can still remember Lieutenant Erwin's evaluation of you, cowardly Adolf."

The German soldiers smiled and shook their heads, unsure if they were agreeing with the phrase "cowardly Adolf" or sympathizing with Hitler.

"Give it back!" After hearing the words "cowardly Adolf," Hitler felt deeply insulted.

"Give it back to him, Stevin." It was Wang Weiya who spoke.

Seeing the captain speak, Stevin tossed the diary back to Hitler and then chuckled, "Hey, Adolf, don't mind me, I'm just teasing you."

"Back to your position." Wang Weiya commanded sternly.

Stevin quickly returned to his combat position, and Hitler carefully put away his diary, then muttered angrily, "Damn Jews!"

His words were drowned out by the artillery fire, but Wang Weiya was by his side and vaguely heard half of it: "What did you say?"

"Ah, Lieutenant." There was nothing Hitler could hide in front of the lieutenant. "I said damn Jews, he had teased me before."

"Is he a Jew?" Wang Weiya was curious.

Hitler nodded. "Yes, just like Sergeant Hall, they're both Jews. They always like to scheme against others. Anyway, I have no fondness for them."

Wang Weiya fell silent.

Jews. Stevin and Hall were Jews, too. Did Hitler's dissatisfaction with Jews begin from now?

He couldn't get into Hitler's mind, of course, nor could he guess what Hitler was thinking...

"The British are coming, the British are coming!"

The cry interrupted the conversation, and Wang Weiya quickly shouted, "Prepare for battle!"

The heavy machine gun and Mauser rifles were ready.

The enemy was dense, and in order to wash away the shame of losing the G position, the British seemed to have spared no expense.

Seeing so many enemies, Wang Weiya was also a little nervous. After all, there were too few Germans here, although there was a new heavy machine gun as the backbone.

Fortunately, the British did not use tanks this time, which also eased the pressure of defending the position.

As the British approached the firing range, the heavy machine gun opened fire!

Sean poured bullets into the advancing British, claiming enemy lives with every shot, reaping souls like a storm.

The British fell one after another, but they continued to advance towards the position. They evidently received some order that they must retake the G position at all costs.

Proud British believed that their honor could not be stripped away!

But German honor could not be stripped away either.

Mauser rifles roared alongside the heavy machine gun. Bullets flew from the barrels, either aimlessly or accurately finding their mark in the bodies of the enemy.

Trench warfare was always the most painful thing, especially for the attacking side. They often had to pay ten times or a hundred times the price compared to the defending side to achieve their desired victory.

But victory seemed so distant now.

The submachine gun in Wang Weiya's hand also spat fire. Now this submachine gun had become a reliable firepower point on the battlefield.

Ruger bullets spread out, killing the advancing enemies. Often, an enemy would charge forward and then fall to the ground with a "thud," never to rise again.

Adolf Hitler also showed great courage, his Mauser rifle never ceasing fire, perhaps to wash away the shame of the nickname "cowardly Adolf."

The Chinese laborer Guo Yunfeng, on the other hand, seemed much calmer. He was just a laborer who theoretically didn't have to participate in the battle, but since he arrived in France, he had experienced too many such scenes.

It didn't matter whether it was waiting for British orders before or German orders now; there was no difference to him.

At this moment, a German soldier groaned and died next to him, and his Mauser rifle fell to Guo Yunfeng's feet.

Guo Yunfeng made a move, picking up the Mauser rifle, and then skillfully pulled the bolt, "click," a bullet flew out, accurately knocking down an enemy.

All of this fell into Wang Weiya's eyes, and he was very curious. "You can use a gun?"

Guo Yunfeng was also very curious about why a German officer was speaking Chinese so well. He nodded and killed another enemy, "Yeah, I saw the British use it, so I learned."

Now Wang Weiya understood. It seemed that this man had some talent for using guns.

Perhaps there was some subtle connection between using a knife and using a gun that outsiders couldn't understand.
