章 8: I Had An Argument With An Incubus
MSG – Volume 1 – Chapter 8
"Irrespective of whatever really happened, it still stands that I am not ready for (or to even consider) entering a romantic relationship with anyone, would you rather I put up a farce and act like I see you that way? When I know for a fact that I do not?"
Cyanea's expression turned glum for a second but was swiftly replaced by a determined expression on her face.
As she spoke, her eyes conveyed her convictions.
"Your heart may be wrapped in layers like an onion right now but who's to say that they will not be peeled over time?"
Moving her arms up from his abdomen and wrapping them around his neck, she declared:
"I will work hard, doing my very best. And even if I never do succeed… I do not mind. Even if you push me away, I will continue to live for you."
How could her words not affect Solon in any way?
He was not a statue!
Alas, his before the words she uttered could fully take find a foothold within him to elicit negative or positive reactions from him, the atmosphere was doused.
"Hoh? What a heart melting declaration!"
Suddenly, a portal much like the one that the vampire had come through earlier appeared, and a male voice escaped through it.
As the figure of a purple skinned man stepped out of it, he continued speaking with a disdainful tone; "However, aren't those words similar to the ones you fed to Solon all those years ago?"
This newcomer was not referring to our dear protagonist but the original friend of the twins whose body he had taken over shortly before he was surrounded by his comrades and suppressed before being moved to the torture chamber.
The youthful-looking fellow stood at an enviable height of 7 feet and 2 inches, a ripped body that boasted perfect musculature and beauty, and an eye-catching set of black-colored horns, bat-like wings, and a spade-end tail.
The man whose appearance was reminiscent of 24-year-old's fit the description of a certain section of demon population with the need to satiate their lust in order to avoid going mad: an Incubus.
His race was not what caused the shift, and neither was it his words but rather it was his identity.
This man was none other than…
"Brother." Cyanea's expression wasn't pleasant from the moment she sensed her twin's magic and presence, which was even before the portal had fully formed and his words came through to destroy the moment.
On the other hand, Solon's expressions seemed to have disappeared once more.
He had a deadpan look as he stared at the new arrival.
"Why are you here?" Cyanea asked Nikolaos with a rocky tone. "If you're bored, why don't you go spend time with all those whores you have grown to love so much."
"Heh." The incubus chuckled, seemingly amused. "At least I am clear about the fact that my loyalty lies with those women. I do not feed them with false flowery words. Unlike you."
As he added the last two words, the incubus' gaze finally left his sister and landed on the figure of the man that had stolen his best friend from him as well as ceasing said friend's immense future prospects.
With Solon's apparent power level as a manaless existence, he did not have to physically move to kill him but he knew that that would be a foolish action, yielding him no gains but trouble.
The boy's soul was apparently strange enough for him to affect the 'Wheel of Life and Death' itself, as proven by the incident when the three of them were to undergo their reincarnation with the help of Lilith.
Internally gritting his teeth in frustration, he stayed his hands.
He did not bother wasting his breathe on this individual.
Leaving Protagonist-Kun with only a sharp glare, he turned his attention back to his sister who was yelling something at him.
"Little brother! Do not just say whatever you want whenever, wherever, however, and to whoever you want!" she exclaimed.
"If you heard it from someone then at least verify their claims first! And if you are the one who is imagining such things…" (Cyanea) "Stop slandering me!"
"I'm lying?! S-slandering you?!" His eyelids trembled slightly as he got riled up by her words. "Now. You are the one who is slandering him!"
A look of confusion flashed across both the vampire and the human's faces but the latter hid his own much more.
Before either of them could open their mouths to inquire what he meant by those words, he gave them the answer himself.
"Do you know how happy Solon was that day that we came back from the Spineless Pass?" he roared. "The day that he saved you from nearly dying to the attack of that Gale Horned Rhino?!"
The more he spoke, the deeper the frown that appeared on the duo's faces.
Though the reasons behind their facial expressions were different.
Cyanea's was out of genuine confusion as she rummaged through the memories she had of that day and there was nothing related to romance that happened that day except for her saying that she would be forever grateful to him, and did not know how to repay him.
She had asked Solon (the original one) what he wanted as repayment and he had asked for a kiss.
She had blushed and felt a bit embarrassed but also found him to be a bit of a scoundrel to want something like that in return.
She had wanted to ask him to ask for something else but when she looked down at her arm that would have remained completely destroyed had he not sacrificed an expensive magical artifact for her, she relented and gave him a kiss on his cheek even though he had already said 'I was joking!'
As for Solon the transmigrator, his discomfort was from what he found after sifting through the person in question's memories of that day.
With unbridled anger, he spoke his mind; "Do not just believe whatever what people say without proof or context. Or else, you will just end up causing pain for people."
