Zak put his hand over his heart in a wounded gesture.
The old man flipped his glasses up and gave Zak a look that would've buried anyone else six feet under. "It's too late for you to try to soften me. I already know you're a snake." He squinted at Zak.
"You didn't let any of the Fae courts know that I'm here, did you?"
"I have not," Zak said. "Yet."
"What do you want now?" The prime minister asked, groaning as if in pain.
Zak folded his arms. "I need to consult you on a matter that requires the utmost privacy."
The old man scrunched his face.
"Fine. Hold on to the snake, young one," he said, peering at me. My hands went to hold Zak, and before I knew it, my hand was tightly nestled in his.
