Title - Short Timeskip and Fate Manipulation

BANG!*

The door leading to Leucadius' office was suddenly and noisily pushed open as a Golden haired beautiful woman strutted in like she owned the place before rudely sitting in the chair opposite to him.

Leucadius, who had his attention fully focused on a book, didn't even bat an eye to her rude behavior as he continued reading the book in his hands.

"Behaving so crassly won't make me pay any more attention to you than necessary." He said softly as he flipped the page to the book without still acknowledging the girl.

"Humph. Like I need to be paid attention to by a perverted old man like you." The woman snorted mockingly with a mix of disdain in her tone. "What's with that book? You've always had your attention on it if you're not doing something Godly."

"An important book." Was all Leucadius said while still reading. "How has the preparation been coming along? The banquet should be in a few months, right?"

"Right, and everything has been arranged to suit the taste of every Pantheon that will be in attendance." The woman rolled her eyes and replied.

"Hmm." Was all Leucadius said before the room fell into a comfortable silence. Comfortable for Leucadius, very...very uncomfortable for the lady.

"Gah!" She screamed and rushed to pick the book out of Leucadius' hand to which she succeeded before jumping back from Leucadius. With a victorious smirk she looked at Leucadius only to see him smiling back at her. "What's with that smile? You're not all that Godly afterall."

"I am not, am I?" Leucadius asked, his smile not leaving his face as he reclined on his chair. "Go ahead then."

"What?"

"You took my book away from me, have a look at the book you hold in your hand." Leucadius gestured to the black and white book that was held comfortably in her hand.

"Then I'll have a look." She said and flipped the book open and began reading, not even three seconds passed before she immediately dropped the book and held her head while groaning in pain.

"Hmm? You didn't have a brain death…impressive." Leucadius said as he raised his right hand, pulling the book back into his hand. "Do you see how important what I am doing is?"

The lady didn't reply but continued moaning in pain as she fell on her knees. Seconds later, she began spasming as thick red blood began dripping from her eyes, nose and ears.

Leucadius sighed as a soothing golden energy immediately washed over her, healing her up instantly.

"Huh..?" She murmured as she came to. "What…was that? I thought I was…about to die…" she said in-between deep and labored breath.

"Your lack of faith in me is…astonishing." Leucadius intoned casually. "Little Hala."

"You..! What was that!? How could you do that to me?" Halaliel's eye turned bloodshot as she questioned Leucadius who only smiled and shook his head.

"Your habit of asking too many questions at once hasn't changed I see."

"Don't change the subject you old man! What was that?"

"That…is your brain going into overdrive at the sudden input of information it isn't capable of computing…" Leucadius said and looked her in the eye. "In short…you were about to turn into a vegetable."

"How..? Why? What is That book?" she asked again only to receive a look from Leucadius causing her to sigh. "Please…explain."

Leucadius smiled and raised the book to her. "This is the Book of Fate…My book of Fate. It is still in its beginning stages but soon…I'll be able to tell the Fate of this Universe just from this book."

"The Book Of Fate? Isn't that supposed to be some super powerful artifact or something?" She asked incredulously as she made her way back to her seat. "And how can you read it without…you know?"

"I am God, and Fate is nothing but a bunch of mathematically arranged equations playing out according to a given formula…In essence God Level Probability Manipulation."

"I don't think I follow."

"I don't blame you. Mathematics, science and technology are not your field of expertise. Keep your focus where it should be." Leucadius said and placed the book down. "So? What brings you here?"

Halaleil's face immediately fell upon hearing Leucadius' question, she had initially come back from observing and completing her task on Earth and was filled with immense anger.

No matter how angelic she may be, Leucadius' task had left an indelible mark on her considering the results of her action.

"Did you know it would end up like that?" She asked back.

"End up like what?" Leucadius asked back, a confused light flashed past his eyes despite the permanent smile on his face.

"Thousands died. Confusion…It led to so much Chaos that so many humans died. I watched as children were trampled, women, both those with children and those without, weak men…a lot of people…I watched them all die simply because of a lack of understanding." Halaliel said with unfocused eyes.

From her expression, it was obvious that the memory of what had happened was being replayed in her mind.

"Why did that happen?" She finally asked as she looked up to Leucadius.

"If you were any Normal Angel, I would be sure you wouldn't be asking this question." Leucadius began and turned on his chair to look at what looked like the skies outside, however, upon closer observation, it was just a huge screen of Earth and everything happening within.

"They'd have chucked it up to; - The Will of God -" he said with a hollow laugh before snapping his finger causing the skies outside to Zoom in on the area of Babel, a towering city in the soon to be Mesopotamia.

The area around the humongous skyscraper was littered with the corpse of Humans, old and young alike creating a scene that would make anyone retch in disgust.

"What did you think of their actions?" Leucadius asked as the screen rewinded to show the humans still happily building the towering city. "Sincerely, as you watched them, what did you think?"

"..." Halaliel looked at the scene for a good while without replying. What was she supposed to say? She thought they were impressive to be able to build a construct that strong despite their barbaric intelligence, but was that really what Leucadius wanted to hear?

"Feel free. Speak your mind." Leucadius' voice snapped her out of her thoughts causing her to look at him in annoyance. "You ask as though you can't just read it out of my mind."

"I could, but I want your answer."

"They were impressive." She replied, causing Leucadius to nod.

"Indeed they were."

"Then-"

She was about to ask why he caused this level of chaos but he interrupted by picking up the book and flicking open a page causing a golden light to shoot towards the screen.

"This is a timeline where I didn't interfere." Leucadius said, causing Hala to keep quiet and watch the humans go about building their towering City.

It happened that if she hadn't activated that seal to scramble their minds, they'd have continued to build a city that will reach the heavens, and once that was done, problems would arise.

Of course as Humans, problems were merely tasks that facilitate evolution, Mental and physical alike. And so, with the problem of food, a pulley system would be created to distribute food and water through the many districts of the tower.

With that done, there would be a problem of leadership. Each district would select their own leaders to facilitate rules, laws and order. And with the creation of a ruling system, a hierarchy would be formed.

With that hierarchy formed, Classes would then be created. The majority, the minority, the privileged, the underprivileged.

With the classes formed there would be cases of hoarding of products and many more resources that should've been shared in the beginning. Humanity didn't have the luxury of living for hundreds of years any more.

Leucadius found that part of the reasons Divine beings thought them suitable for partnership was due to their longevity, so he caused them never to age past 150.

In that case scenario, what was the point of hoarding all those resources when they would still end up dying one day to leave it to the future generation? Why not help out each other to create a sustainable environment that will last centuries?

But alas, humans were selfish creatures. A good characteristic but bad when used wrongly.

And continuing that, Humans would also lose their instinct of survival. The land that should initially belong to them would be left unattended simply because they have chosen to coup themselves up in a tower.

And exactly 1200 years from now, said tower would be destroyed, not from the outside, but from the inside. The reason being rather simple.

In any setting of persecution either due to marginalization of resources or just cruelty, there will always be a tipping point. It might be an event, an individual, a sudden shift…anything…and that will lead to a revolution.

Nothing Mortal was meant to be Eternal. And the universe was an Entropic Universe. Nothing is meant to remain stagnant.

"So? Is that outcome the one you'd prefer?" Leucadius asked a scrunched face Halaliel with a smile.

"..."

"I guess I will leave you to your thoughts then." Leucadius said before turning his attention back to the book.

"How can you be so sure?" She asked suddenly.

"Hmm?"

"How can you be so sure that is what will happen?"

"It's simple." Leucadius said. "This book."

"The Book of Fate?"

"Yup. Fate is a concept that stands above space and time. To be able to access it, one has to pay a suitable price. However once accessed, nothing is ever truly wrong." Leucadius replied.

"And what price do you have to pay?"

"Loss of memory." Leucadius said with a sad smile. "I know of future events, but the more I read this book, the more blurry they become. I've only managed to read 0.9 percent of it, but I can already feel myself forgetting a few things about the future."

"Only that much?"

"Yup. What? Did you think I was all powerful?" Leucadius snorted jokingly as he turned back to the book. The fact that he was able to read the book was only because of his absolute intelligence.

Shockingly, even Aspect couldn't scan and store the contents of the book. Perhaps it felt it was cheating so it refused it Access. Leucadius on the other hand was able to decipher its content due to his organic brain and Unique Skill; Absolute Intelligence.

However as he had mentioned, there was a price to pay for knowledge not meant for Mortal Existences.

As for where he had gotten the book, even he had no Idea. One moment it wasn't there, the next moment it was. He has thought of many scenarios and could only decide on two. it was either TOAA's doing or his Main Body's.

Of course he didn't care much and just picked it up and began reading. It was only then that he felt a little information skip his brain. In haste, he immediately had Aspect scan his brain only to discover that there was a permanent gray area embedded in it.

He was able to immediately understand that it was a result of reading the book and asked Aspect to be the scapegoat. However Fate wasn't just a concept to be trifled with.

He then tried asking a few angels to read it only for them to end up in a similar situation as Halaliel.

So, with no other option, he decided to continue reading it, and as he read, like a drug, he couldn't stop himself from reading, and after nine decades he was only able to understand 0.9 percent of the book's content.

His thoughts were - With access to Fate Manipulation, was there a need to care about future events? Wouldn't just calculating a few people's fate give him the same results? -

And so he had no intention of stopping. Whoever gave him that book must have had an ulterior intention in doing that, but he wasn't going to shy away from it due to fear of the unknown.

If worse comes to worst, he'd just die and return to his main body. No harm in that.

"My Lord, Preparations are done and the Heaven's Gate is ready to be activated." Aspect's voice immediately rang out in the room causing Leucadius to close the book and place it on the table.

"Well then, shall we?" He asked Hala, but before she could reply, they were already in a whole new area in Heaven.
